Sorry bout the long template guys ^^’
It’s alright lol, I’m deciding between my guy with a passion for botany, or my girl who’s a potter. Both of them could work well in a fantasy setting, I think
Ooh okay, well it seems that both Ice and I’s characters are quite dark, so maybe whoever of your two is more cheerful or light?
Oke dokey, I’ll probably go with my gal then
Alright! I'll go with the pirate, then. Quick warning, though: they're mute (tongue got cut out), so they communicate either through writing or through sign language
Ooh! This could be interesting to work with, my girl is blind
Well idk how the fuck they're gonna communicate, then, lmao
Lmao, someone would probably have to tell her what he writes/signs? At least until they come up with a system
Hmm. Maybe I'll just use the auto mechanic instead, since now that i'm thinking about it, I'm not sure that my pirate is really ready for a roleplay, still far too rough around the edges
Full name: Anais (“Ahn-ay-ees”) Loughty
Age: 20
Species: Half Kurseatid(a species of blind elves that live underground)/Half human
Gender: Female
Sexuality: She’s always thought of herself as straight, but now questioning
Appearance:
Faceclaim: Anais Loughty
Eye colour/shape: Light hazel/Almond shape; appearing absent and unfocused, sensitive to bright daylight
Skin tone: medium golden
Body type: Pear— slender shoulders and bust, wider hips
Hair style/colour: Wavy-curly light brown hair, hardly any longer than shoulder length/ usually up in a bun or let completely down
Facial hair: None
Identifying marks: Discolored and stained hands from working with clay, a birthmark right under her right ear
Usual outfit: Baggy long sleeve shirts, ankle-length pants made of soft fabrics, a belt, leather shoes with soft soles, and sometimes a cardigan or shawl. She mostly wears earthy tones, black, dark green, and beige fabrics. The colors don’t always match well, and she just looks like a mess sometimes. When on her own, she normally relies on pure luck.
Personality: Neutral good, tempered-charismatic demeanor, enjoys her time talking with others yet drains quickly. Anais doesn’t speak much, especially when in a group. She makes her decisions cautiously and chooses her words carefully, knowing that acting impulsively could lead to injury.
Prejudices:
Mannerisms: When talking to someone she won’t look directly at them, but in the general direction of their voice. When speaking she uses a lot of filler words and long sentences with breaks in between. She wears two textured rings on her hand that she can click together in order to be aware of her surroundings.
Motivation: Struggling with her own identity and not knowing much about her mother’s race, she longs find her family
Flaws: A bit naïve and too trusting of people; her vision is genetically impaired, but she can still see the difference between dark and light; a bit spacey and absent-minded at times
Strengths: Empathetic; generally positive attitude; creative thinker; slightly enhanced hearing
Hobbies: Pottery (also her occupation); collecting stones
(Arche)type: The Dreamer
Occupation: Potter
Beliefs: she inherited her father’s belief in deities
Fears: Deep water, causing her loved ones pain
Background: Anais lived above ground with her father, a human, since she was a young girl. He invented her various gadgets to help her adapt to the outside world with her blindness, one of them being the two rings that she still wears. Anais left her father’s house when she turned 18 to connect with her family underground. She doesn’t remember the first few years of her life spent underground, and she doesn’t know much about her mother.
Notes: A year or so after she left home, her father was murdered by a gang that had taken control of the town he lived in. Anais doesn’t know yet, and continues to contact him without any response.
What would completely break them Hearing that her father has passed away. She would blame herself for leaving in the first place.
Best thing in their life?
Worst thing in their life?
Knowing nothing about her mother or even her own ancestry.
Insignificant memory that stuck with them?
What would they make a scene about?
What would they give their life for?
Anyone she is close to, especially her father
What do they pretend/try to care about?
How does the image they project differ from the image they try to project?
How is their relationship with their family?
Very close relationship with her father, she barely remembers her mom. She has siblings that she knows of
Plans for their future?
How do they feel about themselves and how it affects their behaviour?
How do they feel about things they can't control?
I'm going to use my auto mechanic. Pirate is too rough, mechanic will be up asap
Full name: Kyan James Booker
Age: 23
Species: Shapeshifter
Gender: Male, h/h
Sexuality: Pan
Appearance:
Faceclaim: None, sorry :/ I just couldn't find one that fight him
Note: He is a shapeshifter, so I am merely describing his typical looks, which are approximately the ones he was born with
Eye colour/shape: hazel golden
Skin tone: chart approximately between numbers 29 and 30 in tone, so kind of a rich, warm brown color
Body type: inverted triangle, a decent amount of muscle
Hair style/colour: another chart the dark brown one. Long, hangs past his shoulders in length. In a lot of braids, which he usually keeps tied back in a messy-looking bun
Facial hair: none, usually, sometimes a bit of scruff around his jawline
Identifying marks: this tattoo on his left arm/shoulder. Scars on his hands and forearms from working with tools.
Usual outfit: Jeans and a t-shirt, and a belt. Sometimes with a handkerchief or something tied to a belt-loop, so when he's working he has something to wipe sweat on.
Personality: Usually a pretty calm, easy-going guy. Once he really gets started talking on something, he could go for hours if it's something he's really passionate about. Can get tongue-tied, though, and will stammer for a few seconds as he tries to get the words out in the order he means. He does have a fierce temper when he gets riled, but does his best to stay calm and patient at all times.
Prejudices:
Mannerisms**: (posture, walk, speech, arms, when in a crowd, greetings, unconscious tics, behaviour when talking to someone, angry, hurt or sad, excited, emotional, most expressive part of their face)
**Motivation:
Flaws: Can sometimes be blind to other people's needs, though never on purpose; it's mainly because he's so wrapped up in his own little bubble sometimes. Can get so wrapped up in his own world that he forgets about things he said he would do, and is often late because of that. Stubborn as a mule, too. Not much of a reader.
Strengths: Really good with cars. Like, really really fucking good with cars. Has a really great memory, especially for faces. Quick-witted and intelligent, and good at solving puzzles.
Hobbies:
(Arche)type: i can't choose help
Occupation: Auto mechanic
Beliefs: (religion, politics) Doesn't believe in any god(s). BLM movement, though he wouldn't support the rioting going on right now. Supports the LGBTQ+ movement as well. Would also call himself sort of a feminist, I suppose; like in terms of women's rights and the right to choose and all.
Fears: small spaces. Being cold. Not knowing what to do.
Background: Came from a family of shapeshifters, and was raised being told only to shapeshift if/when he has to, and not to forget the looks he was born with. Because if a shapeshifter forgets, then they can't ever return to that face again, and will never look that way again. His father was extraordinarily strict and emotionally abusive, sometimes physically as well. His parents divorced when he was 7; his mother took his sister and his father took him. He worked hard through high school, saving up money and hiding it from his father, who kicked him out as soon as he turned 18, leaving Kyan homeless. As you can imagine, being a young black guy on the streets was not easy. He had to face racism from both cops and homeless shelters, who worried that he would be violent towards other homeless people in the shelters. So he started using his abilities to look white instead, since that tended to get him better treatment from others. When he was 19, he was accepted for a job at a friend's parent's auto place, where he has worked ever since, and the family let him live in an apartment that they owned, for a low rent. When he was 21, he had saved up enough money to buy a classic car: an old, beat-up 1949 Ford Custom. He has been fixing it up, and it now works like a dream, and has been painted a gorgeous eggshell blue. It's definitely his baby, and he calls it the Hudson, since it looks, y'know, kinda like the Hudson Hornet.
Notes: (I searched for twenty minutes to find the perfect classic car for him, you guys)
What would completely break them?: Oof. Uhm. Probably the car being destroyed, honestly, since he's put so much work and sweat and tears into it. That or losing the ability to shapeshift, or being out on the streets again after working so hard to get out.
Best thing in their life? the fucking car, and his job
Worst thing in their life? the fucking car, because it breaks down so easy. And the fact that he hasn't been able to track down his mother and sister
Insignificant memory that stuck with them?
What would they make a scene about?
What would they give their life for? the. fucking. car. Oh my god. But seriously…I don't know. Maybe BLM?
What do they pretend/try to care about?
How does the image they project differ from the image they try to project? He's actually a lot more insecure and self-conscious than he pretends to be, and has used his abilities to make himself look better.
How is their relationship with their family? bad
Plans for their future?
How do they feel about themselves and how it affects their behaviour? Depends on the day, really, so idk how to answer
How do they feel about things they can't control?
(I hope he's alright!)
I like Kyan a lot!
Damn okay we've got an awesome cast here. They're all fantasy so let's do fantasy, any ideas for plot or setting?
Hmm I still can’t really think of anything for the plot, but would this work in a town setting? Maybe not a big city, but one where the characters could meet?
Honestly as long as there's an auto shop for Kyan to work at, IDC where we start
Urban fantasy it is. I guess we should just start before this dies, and I’ll find us a plot and run it by you?
Sounds good to me
Alright!
(Fuck guys I'm really sorry, the starter will be up today I think but I can't promise anything, sorry I'm trying lmao)
(it's alright!)
(yep, totally fine! :)
Okay here’s my plot suggestion, lmk what you think:
Lysia arrives in Kyan and Anais’s city (a normal, non-fantasy setting) as part of a secret service research thing who are tracking down objects that people are finding in their homes. These objects give off strange signals that Lysia’s operation is trying to understand.
On the day she arrives, Anais finds an object in her supplies. It looks mechanical, and she decides to take it to Kyan’s shop to see if they know what it is. Lysia’s tracks down the object as Anais is showing it to Khan and tells them both she needs to take it with her. Somehow the object « detonates » and they all walk out of the auto shop to find themselves in a city extremely similar to theirs but— magic! They suddenly all have powers (whatever powers you’ve given them) and they need to try and figure out where they are, why, and how to get back and/or warn their own city of what the objects do.
(I'm not sure that would work for Kyan, as being a shapeshifter is an integral part of who he is. Maybe he's already in the mirror city and he helps Anais and Lysia??)
