"Hey, it's not stupid," Melissa whispered, looking up at him. "I'm gonna be honest, I kinda freaked out for a while every time I saw it too- and I wasn't even the one who… y'know."
"Hey, it's not stupid," Melissa whispered, looking up at him. "I'm gonna be honest, I kinda freaked out for a while every time I saw it too- and I wasn't even the one who… y'know."
Lucas looked up at Melissa meekly, fidgeting with his hands. "Really? I mean… I-I guess it makes sense that it affected you as well… I'm sorry…" He said softly.
"Hey, don't be sorry," Melissa insisted, reaching for his hands. "I'm okay, you don't need to worry about it. You're here, and you're safe. That's what matters now."
"Yeah…" Lucas sighed and closed his eyes. "We gotta go back to school tomorrow, right? Hopefully I'm ready to be out in normal social situations and stuff again."
"If you're not, then I can call dad and he can bring you home. Traumatic experience trumps education," With a soft hum, Melissa leaned over to kiss his cheek. "You're gonna be okay, and I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but it takes time to heal. You can't force things to change out of the blue. So even if you're not ready tomorrow, that's okay. It's all a part of healing."
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I dunno, maybe it'll be good for me to get back into the swing of things. Normalizing my life could help me." He sighed softly. "I just wish I wasn't like this… just want to be able to do things normally without getting freaked out about stupid things."
"It could…" Melissa hummed, resting her chin on her palm as she gave him a weak smile. "And hey, don't beat yourself up over it, love. You can't help it… and honestly, they're not stupid. These are kind of all big things that keep happening, and it really sucks."
"I know, I know… I'm just hoping for the best, y'know? It'll be better, I know it. We can see our friends again and I can at least oversee the baseball practice, even if they don't let me play." Lucas sighed and closed his eyes.
"Yeah, I get that…" Melissa mumbled, fiddling with her hands as she looked up at him. "You're not gonna be tempted to play, are you?" She mumbled, tracing circles into the table.
"Oh, I will be for sure. But I know coach knows better than to let me play." Lucas leaned his head back and ran his fingers through his hair. "He knows everything, right?"
"I think so, yeah…" Melissa nodded, letting out a soft sigh. "You might need to ask him and see. I really don't know what all I told him, because of your privacy and stuff."
"Right… I think it's alright if he knows everything. Better, even, since then he'd know what all I'm capable of doing at the moment." Lucas opened his eyes. "Which, unfortunately, isn't much."
"I guess that makes sense," Melissa mumbled, gently pushing her plate aside. "I would probably talk to him once we get back. Just so he knows for sure." She shrugged, folding her arms and resting her chin on the table.
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." Lucas looked away, lowering his hands. "What should we do until then?" He asked. "I don't really want to do makeup work…"
"Yeah, we don't have to." Melissa hummed, glancing around the kitchen. "We could do some kind of fun project… I dunno what. I really have no idea what we can do, besides roam the house for things to do. Like, we can read or something. Do you have something you want to do?"
"Nothing in particular, I guess. It might be a good idea to just try and rest today so we're ready and rested up for school tomorrow, yeah?" Lucas sighed again.
"You're probably right," She agreed as she stood, making her way over to the sink. "But going to bed now- it seems kinda early don't you think? I mean if you're tired you can go sleep now, but I think I'll be up for a bit."
"Not necessarily sleeping, but just… resting. Giving ourselves a nice easy day to relax before we have to go out and do things tomorrow."
Nodding, Melissa rinsed off her plate before turning to look at him. "So what do we do? Just relax, and watch a movie or something?"
"Yeah, sure. If you want to." Lucas shrugged. "Do you have anything in mind you want to watch? I'll watch pretty much anything."
(I know it's been a while but we could always reboot this if you want aha)
(heyy, I'm so sorry I've vanished for so long- school started and so much happened at once. but if you'd be up for it, I would be up for it. I just won't be as active until Christmas vacation and stuff because papers suck loll)
(Np aha, and that's fine! We might want to reboot it a bit or timeskip so we have something to do ^^;)
(honestly, I'd say reboot, so I can adjust the character as needed aha- if you're cool with that.)
(Yeah, that's fine with me ^^)
