Lucas jumped a bit when Melissa suddenly held onto him, looking down at her with a bemused expression. "I… love you too." He replied softly after a few seconds of processing, sounding a little out of it. "I'm sorry… for… um… doing this again. It's not your fault… it's not your fault…"
Melissa continued to quietly rub his back, gently nuzzling against his shoulder. "You don't have to apologize. And you don't have to reassure me. I'm being stupid," She mumbled, reaching up to play with his hair. "You don't have to say anything. If you're not up for it."
"You're not… stupid…" Lucas mumbled softly, burying his face in Melissa's shoulder with a couple of wavering breaths. He was still trying to calm himself down, stuck somewhere between panic and calm, which made him very dazed and out of it. He wasn't entirely sure where he was or what was happening. It felt like a dream, or an out of body experience of some sort.
"Hey, it's okay," Melissa whispered, kissing the top of his head and pulling him closer to her. Rubbing his shoulders a bit, she nuzzled against him in hopes of trying to help relax him. "Is there something I can do to help you, honey?" She asked softly, lacing her fingers with his.
"Mmm… jus' gonna stay here for a while…" He mumbled tiredly, keeping close to Melissa. He was pretty limp, although trembling lightly. "We should probably… go inside soon… yeah? Sorry…"
"Yeah, we can go inside," Melissa whispered, kissing his cheek and starting to get up. "Unless you want to still sit here. And then we can wait." She hummed a bit, playing with his hair as she waited for him to respond.
Lucas hesitated for several seconds before standing as well, looking a little bit unsteady. "We should probably go in… don't wanna worry your dad." He replied softly.

Melissa nodded a bit, wrapping an arm around his waist as she led him into the house. Bringing him to the living room, she let him sit on the couch, standing up next to him. "Can I get you anything, love?" She asked softly, playing with his hair a bit.

"No, no, I'm alright… just gonna sit down for a little while." Lucas sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, trying to relax. "Sorry. When do you think we'll eat dinner? Or… did we already?"
"Alright, love." Melissa hummed a bit, sitting besides him on the couch. Resting her head on his shoulder, she looked up at him when he spoke. "Why are you sorry, honey? And we'll probably have dinner in an hour or so."
"I-I dunno…" Lucas closed his eyes and rested his head against Melissa's. "I can't remember things very well, and… and I'm kinda being a problem. What time is it, even? I don't really know what's happening…"
"Hey, shhh, relax honey." Melissa insisted, pulling him close and rubbing his back. "Just try to relax right now, you're gonna be okay… and it's almost five. If you're hungry, I can get you food, but if you're not, why not try to lay down, huh?"
"Sorry, sorry… okay…" Lucas hesitated before he carefully laid down on the couch as instructed, fidgeting with his hands nervously. "I'm sorry… I love you… you're great."
"You don't need to apologize, Lu," Melissa whispered, kissing his forehead she played with his hair still. "I love you, too. You're also great." She hummed, gently running her thumb over his lips.
"Noooo…" Lucas mumbled softly, burying his face in Melissa's shoulder. "M'not… you're too nice to me, Mel… why are you so nice to me…?" He asked weakly, his voice a bit muffled.
Melissa frowned a bit, resting her head on his shoulder. "Because I love you. And because it's true." She insisted, curling up even closer to him. "I'd hope you would know I love you."
"I know, I know… I'm not great, though… I-I mean, look at me." He sighed softly. "I freak out over nothing and cause problems and I just… can't handle anything ever."
"Hey, don't talk like that," Melissa whispered, rubbing his shoulders just a bit. "I think you're great. I love you, and I love being with you. You're a good guy, even with your flaws. You can't expect yourself to be perfect, especially if you don't expect anyone else to be."
Lucas looked up at Melissa meekly, sighing a bit. "You really are too good to me… I'm not even close to perfect. I'm glad you think I'm so great, though. I'm just not sure what makes you think I'm so special."
"I don't know either if I'm being honest, all I know is you mean everything to me. You make me so happy, and I love you so much." Melissa whispered, kissing the top of his head as she curled up even closer to him.
Lucas closed his eyes and nuzzled against Melissa affectionately, seeming to relax at the attention. "I love you too… is there anything that you wanna do?" He asked, his voice soft and gentle.
"I'm happy to lie here with you for now," Melissa hummed, nuzzling against him as well. She loosely wrapped her legs around his, tipping his chin up so she could kiss him. "Anything you wanna do, I'll do."
Lucas returned the kiss as he huddled close, clinging to Melissa. "We can watch TV or something, I dunno… not sure how much attention I'll be paying to it, though."
"Mm… that's understandable." Melissa hummed, still snuggling up closer. "I might go upstairs and get a book or something. But later, if you fall asleep, or we don't feel like watching anything."
Lucas nodded a bit and hesitated before grabbing the remote and turning on whatever was on cable at the moment. "I love you, Mel…" He said softly. "I'm really lucky to have you."
