he was still holding ari's wrist, during the process of walking over here his hand had slipped into Ari's hand so now they were holding hands and he didn't even notice. he gave ari a thumbs up as he saw his lips move. He may not have heard the question but speaking was a great first step. He didn't tell Sana about him being partially deaf because he wanted to see how long ti would take for her to notice.
'Nice to meet you, Evan, and Arsenio, and yes, I am in Yuin's buisness law class," Sana said, leaning back in her seat and closing her laptop, "You looked familiar." She smiled gently, then nodded to the two ot them, "I was just watching you two use ASL to talk..at least I think it was ASL. I used to know some of it when I was younger, but I haven't met anyone that I have to use it with, so I forgot most of it."
"Yeah? I grew up learning it and i always had people to practice with, sometimes i use to communicate with Ari." He smiled at sana. "I could try and help you get back into it if you want, i was just testing Ari on some because he was testing me on Spanish since we both have it together." he smiled back at her. "Its cool you guys have class together."
Arsenio smiled shyly and forwent the signing for the moment, as one of his hands was occupied and he didn’t want to let go. Instead he over exaggerated his lip movements just a tad to make sure Evan understood what he was saying as he spoke in his soft Hispanic accent, “Yes, I’m taking a class on it and Evan has been helping me master it. I still learning…” then he became self conscious again and pressed against Evan, ducking his head before continuing to speak even softer out of anxiety. “We’re swapping help as he knows ASL, which I’m learning, and my first language is Spanish, so, we decided to swap help… I’m taking Spanish for an easy A…”
He smiled at Ariseno giving him some headpats with his free hand. "Hes actually pretty good at it." he chuckled a little bit. "Im still learning Spanish myself, he's almost a better teacher then our actual teacher sometimes." he then turned and smiled brightly at Sana.
Sana nodded, her smile growing as she tipped her head to the side, "That's a perfect trade off, and I'd love to learn ASL again if there's an offer for it, and if you'd really like, I can teach the both of you some Arabic. That's my actual second language." She chuckled lightly and tipped her head to the side, nodding to Ariseno, "How long have you been learning English? You're excellent at it." With only a second's hesitation, she pulled her things to a corner of the booth she was in, patting the free area and motioning to the two of them, "You can sit down if you'd like."
Ari slowly sat down, tugging Evan with him. “Well, we moved here from Mexico when I was in 6th grade… I started learning then, because it was hard for me to do much schoolwork when I couldn’t understand the teachers. One teacher really hated me because the school made him translate all his papers he was supposed to give me into Spanish for me.” He wilted a bit after saying that, bad memories flooding back.
"Teachers are idiots," She replied, shaking her head and frowning before smiling softly again, "If you're curious, you're as fluent in English as anyone, I thought it was your first language when you first came over." Sana looked over at Evan next, an intrigued look on her face, "How long have you been learning ASL?"
Arsenio smiled and nodded, “I’ve worked hard on it. Though I can’t quite master the accent…” When Sana directed her next question at Evan, his grin grew wider and he looked up at the other boy from under the hair that fell into his face to see how he would respond.
He smiled at sana, "I have been learning it since I was 12 so I have pretty much mastered it although I do forget some signs from time to time. I could definitely try and teach you some if you wanted." He put a Hand to his neck, and looking around still smiling.
Arsenio smiled and bumped his forehead against Evan’s shoulder, his signature sign of affection. “He’s a very good teacher. I’m almost fluent and he starting teaching me…. How long ago was that, Evan….? It feels like I've known you all my life, even though I know it’s not true.” He smiled up at the other, his brightest smile plastered across his face.
He turned towards Ari as soon as he felt the shoulder bump and smiled at him giving him some hair ruffles. "honestly I don't know long, I'm not good at keeping tract of time, but I wouldn't mind if I have known you forever."
She shrugged, smiling and chuckling lightly as she saw the two of them interact. It was clear they were close, and she wondered if they were just good friends or possibly more than that. "I don't think it would hurt to learn some, and in return I can teach you two some sentences in Arabic, if you'd like." Sana watched the two of them, leaning back in the booth and stacking up all her books that she no longer had any desire to use to study.
Ari’s eyes lit up at the reinstated offer, and nodded vigorously. “That would nice, if you want. I love learning new languages!!” He looked over at Evan for his response though, unsure if he’d be able to learn, due to his hearing issues. His face went a little sad as he realized it would probably be difficult for him…
he noticed the little bits of sadness present on Ari and just gave him some hair ruffles with a soft smile. "I will be fine Ari. How do you think i learned Spanish? I'm going for a language degree i will be fine." he turned back to Sana. "We'd love to do that, are you free after school? we could get to know each other better before we start the lessons." Evan smiled at her.
Arsenio smiled at this, and nodded. He leaned against Evan as he waited to hear if Sana was free later. “We can go get coffee or something… My treat.” He smiled widely at her.
"No its my Treat." he poked Ari.
Ari stuck his tongue out at him. “No way, you already treat me enough. It’s my turn now.”
"well what if i wanted to treat her?" he huffed, gesturing to her.
Sana listened to the two of them argue with an amused smile, barely holding in the soft laughter. "You two are a cute couple," She eventually said with a laugh, assuming that they were together from just how close they seemed. "I'm free in about four hours, so we can meet anytime after then, though if coffee is on the agenda, maybe we should postpone until tomorrow morning. I'll be up all night otherwise."
