Right as Rose was about to turn and make her way to her next classroom, a foot shot out in front of her. She stumbled over it and dropped her books with a sigh. Ignoring the stares and giggles, she simply bent down to pick everything up.
“What the hell was that for?” Asked an angry voice from above her. It was the guy from yesterday, glaring at one of his friends.
“Whaaat? There’s nothing wrong with it.”
“Yes there is!”
Rose looked up and narrowed her eyes slightly at the two boys. “I’m fine, so your friend didn’t do me any harm,” she said, picking up her last few books.
The guy who helped her glanced at her. “Right. Sorry for him, anyway.” He turned to his friend and pushed him as Rose walked away.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m used to it,” Rose said with a shrug before she turned to walk away.
The guy’s friend kicked him back, and the guy growled, pushing him again. A couple teens whispered to each other as she passed, snickering.
Rose felt her cheeks heat up as she passed through the hall. Normally, she could handle it, but today… Today, there was just something about the way they looked at her, the way they laughed and spoke behind her back, that made her feel very self-conscious.
(Awwwwww ;u;)
The guy whipped around away from his friend and hurried down the hall to follow her. He fell into step eith her, panting.
“Look, um… where are you going?”
Rose’s back stiffened as she felt the new presence beside her, and she glanced over to him out of her corner of her eye when he spoke.
“AP Calculus. Why do you ask?” she wondered, facing forward again.
“I was just curious,” The boy mumbled, looking down. “You musg be really smart to get into AP Calc.”
(Would you like some name ideas? Lol. Cause I've got names if you want them.)
"Compared to some, I suppose I am," Rose said with a shrug. "But it's not something I exactly brag about."
(Nah. I’m just waiting for her to ask for his name xD)
“You suppose? You almost got valedictorian last year!” The boy glanced up at her.
(…she probably won't, tbh…)
Rose furrowed her eyebrows and turned to him, surprised. "You remember that?" she asked softly, curious about this boy who thought to help her and remembered things about her.
(Oh lol. Alright, he’ll just be boy for now, lmao.)
“Of course I do,” He said, glancing up at her. “I’m in your year. I kinda witnessed it. How Reggie Snyder got so mad when you beat him by one point on your GPA.”
Rose felt her slight blush deepen as she shrugged, pretending it wasn't a big deal. "I mean, 3.9 is hard to beat… And yet, Ava McKnight did… Of course…"
”Barely,” He whispered. “I only got a 2.6. And was proud of it. I shouldn’t have been, but… all well. You got Salutatorian.”
“Um… Well, anyway, this is me. Thanks for walking me here,” Rose said, clearing her throat.
“Oh,” The boy said, glancing up at the class. “Well… have fun, I guess.”
Rose snorted and gave him a tiny smile. “Thanks. You have fun in your class, too.”
He returned the tiny smile with one of his own. “You’re welcome. And thanks. I guess I’ll see you around.”
“Sure. See you,” Rose said before disappearing into the room.
