“Why would we tell anyone?” Kohaku’s ears twitched. He’s surely a bit crazy… “We keep ourselves as reserved as possible, if anything… especially now…” She curved her tail around her body and began to stroke it consciously. “But we feel like you should go, considering Junichi’s insane behavior.” He could’ve killed him, if not for his…. knife…
“Oh… right…” Rigel said dejectedly, chewing his lip. He took the cig out of his mouth and pocketed it, sighing, “It was nice… to be in a place that somewhat accepted my powers, I guess…” He forced himself to turn away.
“It’s for the best of both of us, I guess,” Kohaku grinned. “I hope you stay safe out there in that vast world…..” She wasn’t really sure what else to say. I guess it’s easy to say we won’t see each other again…
She returned to the castle and gave a final goodbye from the stoop.
Rigel forced himself to walk away. He found his way through the tangled wood, and not too long after he found his way back to the city. Rigel saw where the light posts came down the previous night. There were a few police, and one man talking to them. Rigel made out snippets of the conversation.
“Yeah, yeah, I saw two men… One was clearly intoxicated… Yes, I was watching from my window… The light posts were dropping and bending out of nowhere… No, there wasn’t any wind at all…”
Rigel tried to look casual, tried to seem like an innocent bystander. That man couldn’t have possibly identified me… gosh…
Kohaku got back inside. People come, people go….. Mamoru greeted her at the door, holding a potion-like bottle full of Daichi’s soup. “I assume he left?”
A bit surprised, she nodded. “He said he needed to go….”
He handed her the bottle. “Go find him and give it to him— he forgot to eat. And although it’s cold, I’m sure it’d warm up in your possession…”
She took it and went out without another word, finding her way out of the woods. I can smell that sent of smoke he had on him…
Rigel decided the best way to avoid the scene entirely was to go through the alleys, turning down one. It didn’t have much lighting, despite the clear skies. Rigel walked down it on quiet feet, wishing he could’ve gotten to know Mamoru and the others better. He sighed, and didn’t realize someone was right behind him until a hand covered his mouth before he could shout.
Kohaku came up on the edge of the city, nearly blinded by all of the flashing police lights. I wonder what that’s about… She fought the urge to just call out, for the sake of herself and the other man. I…I don’t even know his name…..
She caught another heavy whiff of the smoke she managed to pick up beforehand. Where did he go….?
Avoiding the comotion, she ducked behind in an alleyway.
Rigel was slammed against a wall, someone’s hot breath over his neck whispered, “Why hello there Rigel…” The man purred, an Rigel was chilled to the bone. “It seems you forgot our agreement.” Cool metal was shove against his temple, and it only took Rigel a few second to find out it was a pistol. Sh-t, sh-t, sh-t. Who the f-ck is this guy?
(Is this a new character or someone too insignificant to have a template for…..?)
Kohaku witnessed something she never wanted to see. A cold chill that countered her constant heat slithered down her back, and she opened her hand, dropping the bottle that broke open with a freakish shatter, the soup running everywhere.
Is that him….?
(Yeah, I could make a template for him, just a minute)

Rigel tensed, and he know the mysterious man turned his head -and his focus- away from him. Rigel took the moment, shoving hard back and driving his elbow into the stranger’s gut. The man stumbled back, and Rigel spun around to see. It was that fox girl and- Rigel was petrified to see him. Peter. The man gave him a crooked, maniac smile. Then Rigel ran, grabbing the fox girl’s wrist and pulling her with him, “We need to leave.” Peter shot a warning shot into the sky, and Rigel knew- he just knew, that he wouldn’t be able to hide from him any longer.
Kohaku screamed wildly, flushing. “Where are you taking me!??” She winced as they passed over the broken glass, for her feet weren’t protected like his.
She didn’t look back, and she never wanted to. Whoever that man was…. I need to stay away from him!!!
Her hand began to heat up drastically from the harsh surprise she got. Oh-no!!! His hand’ll burn!!!!
Rigel felt a burning pain shoot through his hand but he didn’t let go. If Peter got her… No, I can’t let that happen. He ignored the intense pain in his hand as he tugged the fox girl into the woods. Rigel looked over his shoulder, seeing Peter chasing after them, and sent his dagger flying with his mind. It launched itself into Peter’s shoulder and the sadist finally slowed. Rigel got a glimpse of Peter grinning at him still, but then he couldn’t see through the thickening trees
With the immediate panic and adrenaline gone, he ripped his hand away from the fox girl, stumbling back and yelping in pain. Gosh, that f-cken hurts.
Kohaku folded her hands together delecately, anxious engulfing her mind. “I-I hope I didn’t hurt you!….” She got a mere chance to look back. “….I always do that when I get overreactive….” Whoever they were, they don’t seem very friendly….
Rigel crouched down, clutching his reddened skin. His entire hand was burnt. He tried to shake it off, and continued to walk, “We need to get away- farther.” His hands shook slightly, and he looked over his shoulder again. Gosh… he’s back…
She asked, “Do you know that man?” She saw his hand, and it was redder than her fur. I’ve really done it now, haven’t I?…..
Kohaku just did what he did and followed along, afraid she wasn’t going to be able to return back to Katsumi. Where are we going, anyway…..? Her mind swam relentlessly, but she ignored it and focused.
“That’s-“ No, no, no, no, no, no- Rigel did not want to go back there, to resurface those memories. He picked up his pace, not walking in any particular direction. I just need to get away. And I can’t lead him anywhere important… “He’s going to track us…” He muttered, biting his lip nervously.
“Track us?” Kohaku’s body was warming too quickly, and her ears burned. “Wh… I’m not following….” Her mind jumbled every possible question into a massive wad, and she couldn’t just ask them all at once— it would drive him crazy.
She was even unsure of where they were going. “Where exactly… are we going, anyway?”
“Anywhere that’s not important. Unless we can get him off our tail.” Rigel shuddered, looking over his shoulder again as he clutched his hand. If he ends up cornering us anywhere… Rigel paled, shutting the memories away.
“…Do you happen to know this guy?” Questions questions questions…… It was all that was on her mind. She understood exactly why they needed to get away, yet so many things went on unanswered.
Despite constant confusion, she went along with him. How long are we gonna be like this?
“Y-Yes,” Rigel replied with a shaky breath. He took the cig out of hit pocket and stare at it for a moment before asking, “Can you light this?” I can throw him off our trail, maybe we could go back to the palace to hide or at least warn the others…
“Um— oh, sure….” Kohaku flicked her thumb, the friction creating a small, neat open flame. “Here you go…”
What is going on anyway???? She glanced back, still keeping a watchful eye on her lit finger. “But who is he?” He’s bad, clearly, but what does he want?
Rigel took cig, then ran a few paces away and threw it as far at he could. He walked back to the fox girl, still fairly pale. “He’s… He’s Peter.” That name. It brought a shudder through Rigel’s body, and he starting to shake more. “Do you know the way back to the place? We need… We need to warn the others.”
