Mamoru came to a screeching halt, his paws aching and on the brink of bleeding. He yipped and staggered back with a pounding heart, barely avoiding the collapsing street lamp. I have to get out of this concrete jungle…. but this man….. “What do you want from me?” He called wearily, swiveling back around.
He was confused as to what his fate had in store for him. He crouched down and curled his lip back in a low snarl.
“But more importantly, why do you want me to stay?”
A small part in the back of Rigel’s mind was at least thinking somewhat logically, because he called wearily, “Help… Please…” He took a staggering step forward, and gosh his head pounded harder with every breath. He didn’t know why he as asking for help this time -he got intoxicated like this every night- but something in his gut just told him to.
As much as Mamoru wanted to pull away, the situation tugged on his heartstrings just enough to have him stay. “Are you alright…?” I have no idea why I’m compelled to help a human!
He trotted on over to the slumped man, and caught a terrible stinging odor emit from his body. “Awful!” He yelped, scraping his paws at his twinging nose. “What on earth happened to you!?…. Not even a being like you deserves to be like this.”
(I’ll create a new character soon, expanding on that.)
Rigel leaned against the wall, groaning slightly as another headache panged in his head, “I’m intoxicated, what do you think I’ve been doing all night?” He pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling his power flaring up again. Another light post across the street started to curve, “I need- I need somewhere safe.” Somewhere my powers won’t send me to prison…
Mamoru wanted to help him, but his own powers were useless when it came to reviving. I don’t know what to do… He knew very little about their structure or their health, and the feeling of stress began to press on his tiny shoulders. What can I do??? “I…. I might know somewhere where you can stay… but I’m unsure if my friends would…. welcome you in the warmest way.”
His bushy tail tingled, and a breeze fluffed his fur. Not now, please….
“Anywhere…” Rigel winced at another pang of pain in his head. I’m talking to a hallucination… He leaned over, choking up bile onto the sidewalk with a groan. My head… His powers flared up, the closest lightpost groaning.
Well, I’m not too helpful in the first place if I’m like this…. Mamoru let his fur disappear as his bones and muscles changed to take on the body of a male human being. Fully dressed and ready to go, he leaned down to help Rigel to steady his feet. “…I hope you don’t mind…”
He kept a close eye on the one downed street lamp, and the other one that was barely moving, yet creaked eerily. I don’t understand…
Rigel blinked at the changing hallucination, but he readily leaned on the male. His head slumped a little, and his eyes seemed to droop lower, yet he still mumbled, “What was -hic- your name again?” His head screamed again, and his visibly cringed in pain. Geez, what had I even taken?
He was afraid to tell him, but he figured Rigel wouldn’t do much harm, regarding the state he was in. “The name’s Mamoru….” Kaze no Ichirou echoed in his mind, yet was not said. “I don’t remember catching your name either.”
He hoisted him up, feeling his energy drain as well. I’m not sure if I can take this guy all the way back to the riverside…. I only came here expecting to get some food…
(Kaze no Ichirou is basically First child of wind)
“Rigel…” He gave him a lopsided grin, which fell with another sharp pain in his head. He tried to take a few steps and support himself, but really Mamoru was the only source of balance for him. Rigel directed his attention to a park bench (made of metal) that seemed to creak as they passed. I got to control my powers…
(New character :D)
Name: Daichi (means “Big land”)
Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Occupation: Food gatherer
Appearance:
Personality: Understanding and sympathetic
Flaws: Tends to act before he thinks but never lets people take advantage of his kindness
Powers: Can control the growth/aging of smaller plants (aka not bushes or trees of any kind)
Other: Known as “Tsuchi no Ichirou,” First son of Earth
Has the same disliking of humans for the same reason Mamoru does, but he’s less stern about it.
Also because of his personality, he’s seen as the “father figure” for the small group he looks after along with Mamoru.
(Thanks :3)
Mamoru started to struggle under Rigel’s weight and his steadily decreasing amount of energy. “I don’t know if I can make it like this,” He growled, grinding his teeth in mere agony. “This’ll be tough for the both of us, but I’m sure that once we’re out of this city, everything’ll be easier….”
As the bench creaked, his humanoid ears tingled. I have to get of here, and at the perfect pace…
(By the way, can we think of a name for the city?)
Rigel limped along, muttering, “Alright… the edge of the city isn’t far…” He focused on his breathing, praying his powers wouldn’t spiral too out of control before they got out of the city. There are too many metals in the city… I don’t even know why I don’t move to the country… The thought seemed nice, but he knew it was too far fetched on his income of scraps.
(Maybe… oof, i’m bad at names…
Rassa?
Dertoit? (lol)
Helio?
Idk)
(Helio sounds cool to me if ur fine with that)
“That’s a relief,” Mamoru responded with periodic pants. This is driving me crazy… “Our place is over by a remote riverside in an abandoned castle….. if that’s okay with you of course.”
They shuffled along at a steady pace, his feet beginning to sting with achiness. His shoulders were incredibly sore from practically carrying Rigel’s entire weight. I’m not sure if I can hold this anymore….
His head ached and his bare skin crawled as fur slowly grew back to reveal his true self.
(lol, I got really confused for a second when you said ‘periodic pants’)
(Chemistry is wrecking my life)
“I’m okay with anything…” Rigel trailed off, the world spinning a bit with every step they took. His head still pounded, but it seemed to hurt less as they moved away from the city. “Just as long as there isn’t any metals…”
(Delete that picture before it haunts me in my sleep, lol!!!)
“I can’t guarantee there won’t be any metal, but there’s definitely less than what there is here in this city…” He gave up the fight against his body’s appearance, his short snout returning to his face. Oh well…. he has to see it eventually anyway.
As the atmosphere got darker and darker, he felt sleep creep up on him. I knew I should’ve done this earlier.
They went down the road a long ways before Mamoru turned off it and into a wooded area.
How the heck is my hallucination carrying me…? Rigel squinted at Mamoru’s fur and snout, then brushed it off as him just being way too high to know left from right. He wearily stumbled along with Mamoru, just going with it. I’ll sort through what happens in the morning…
I hope he’s doing alright… Mamoru continued along the faded wet-leaf-covered path down the river. In no time, they encountered the faded ivy wall that surrounded the place. He opened it up, ushering Rigel on through.
“Mamoru!” A deep voice caught his attention up at the balcony above the front door. “Is that you? We’ve been waiting hours for you to return!”
He glanced up to see none other than Daichi.
(Might spam some new side characters soon, lol because they’re all liviing in there!!— if that’s okay)
(Yeah totally :D )
Rigel groaned at the voice, headache panging again. He felt his powers flare up, but nothing nearby was metallic so there was no effect other than Rigel clutching his head in pain. “Who is- Who is that?” Rigel asked as he started to feel nauseated again.
(I edited an actual picture into Daichi’s entry, if u wanna have a look :))
“If you don’t mind, that’s Daichi,” Mamoru said, scuffling themselves up to the door. “He practically runs the place when I’m absent.” While still holding Rigel upright, he pulled one of the two doors open and into the foyer.
The ceiling was high above their heads, a massive elegant tassled chandelier hanging down. The walls were covered in a gorgeous gold lacing, and on the floor was a giant, circular moasic of the dragon himself, Ryuu.
Daichi came rushing down the left staircase. “Mamoru! I—“ He immediately cut off the instant he saw Rigel.
(Ooo! Cool!)
Rigel squinted at Daichi, “Uh, hey…” He trailed off, looking around trying to absorb all this. I’ll figure it out in the morning, Rigel told himself again. “Too many hallucinations for one night…” He jested a little bit, laughing before another pang of a headache made him wince.
(New character! :D)
Name: Kohaku (Amber)
Age: 15 years
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Red fox with long red-orange hair
Personality: Sweet and kind
Flaws: Puts herself first too often
Powers: Can conjure fire and create heat with her hands/body
Other: Known as Hi no Jirou (Second child of fire)
(Thanks, there’s more pics coming, too :3)
Daichi finished coming down the stairs with a look that seemed more than just confusion. “What on earth are you doing bringing a human in a place where they aren’t even supposed to be in the first place!?” He hissed.
Mamoru folded his ears back with aggression. “He needed some help, and he also didn’t seem like the type that’d try to take our powers anyway!”
The panda sighed, calming himself down. “I suppose he can stay, but just be careful— everyone else is sleeping, and I’ve been up waiting for you to bring back food…”
