(How come?)
(How come?)
(What if Rigel, thinking Mamoru/someone else was Peter, threw a dagger at them in defense to protect Kohaku. Then they thought it was becuase Rigel was turning on them, so they banished him and then it can lead onto the forbidden love thing
Just a thought, if you don’t like it we don’t have to do it)
(Oh… Um…. I don't know…. Maybe? Well, lets see what happens….)
Daichi heard Kohaku screaming from downstairs, and he redressed as he finished up his own shower. Oh no– she's having hallucinations again… He went down the staircase and came into the dining hall where Kohaku was, along with Rigel. "Kohaku–!"
Rigel reflexes were fast, and he sent a metal dagger straight at the figure who came out of the stairwell, without looking. He held Kohaku tightly against him protectively, holding his breath.
Daichi caught the flying dagger with his thick hand, crushing it. "….What the hell?" He growled.
Kohaku wad afraid to look up, but she saw Daichi holding one of Rigel's knives in his hand. But she saw the demon as well, and all she could do was cry. "D-Daichi?" She didn't want to see him die.
Rigel suddenly tensed, realizing who he had almost stabbed. His mouth parted in surprise, shock, and slightly in fear. But he didn’t dare let go of Kohaku, daggers still wavering in the air around them.
Hot breaths huffed out of Daichi’s nose, but he struggled to contain his anger. “I guess we were all wrong about you.”
Kohaku cried. “He didn’t mean to,” She choked terribly, hiding herself from the monster behind the panda. “He didn’t mean to, it was my fault….”
Rigel had his attention focused on Kohaku instead, “Hey, shh, shh, it’s okay, I’ll keep you safe, it’s okay,” The daggers around them turned to shields, but he glared at Daichi -Rigel assumed the panda had been scaring Kohaku- “She’s afraid.”
"Well, we all know– that's Osore. Everytime it storms, she has awful hallucinations of this canine demon." Daichi was still a bit angry from being substituted for such an abhorred creature that didn't even exsist. "…But why you had to throw a dagger… That's just placid betrayal."
The words hit Kohaku hard. "No… He… He didn't betray us," She stammered, afraid to make eye contact, as Osore was right behind him. "…That'd never be a thing that Rigel would do…"
“I didn’t betray you,” Rigel glared even more —d-mning himself even more— and pulled his dagger back to him with his mind. He didn’t realize how bad he looked like that.
"…Then how come you threw the dagger?" Daichi didn't want to be like this, but it was all for everyone's precaution. "There's no other answer– and you're even getting more and more aggressive."
"No–" Kohaku regretfully glanced up to stare at Daichi in the face, but she shied away from Osore's evil grin. "…It wasn't betrayal, Daichi." She sobbed. "It wasn't…"
"But that doesn't explain the dagger!!!" Daichi barked.
“I was protecting her,” Rigel’s voice got slightly louder -gosh he didn’t even realize the mistakes he was making- and he said again, “I’ve told you that I wouldn’t betray you like that.” Thunder sounded accompanied by a flash of lightning from the sky.
Kohaku screamed at the terrible crack of thunder.
“Protecting her from what!? Me!?” Daichi roared. “I’ve kept her out of trouble since practically the day she was born!! You brought this upon yourself, Rigel,” He said his name with a sour pang. “Mamoru made a mistake when he brought you back— he knew all humans were the same….”
She cried out, “Just let him stay, Daichi…. the only reason he threw that dagger was because he— he thought you were Osore.” She shuttered as she said that horrid name.
Rigel didn’t hear Kohaku, standing up. How come he isn’t understanding? Why would I ever betray them? “Well then, f-fine!” He voice wavered slightly, but he pushed on as he walked for the door, “I’m just an untrustworthy human anyways, I best get out of your way then!” He pulled his dagger and shields back to him, all except one small one which he left for Kohaku, just before he walked out the door into the rain, forcing himself not to look back. It’s- It’s better this way, I was unwanted anyways. A pang of hurt struck a chord in his heart, because to be honest… Those people were his family. And now he’s out on his own.
Kohaku reached out to grab him, but it was already too late— he was already gone, lost in the storm, never to be found again. “R-Rigel…” She whimpered, then closed her eyes tight to avoid Osore at all costs. “….He would never do that.”
Daichi growled. “It’s for our own safety. No matter what, humans will always have a killer instinct against us.” He glanced around, then said, “I think it’s time for you to go to bed— and you’re lucky this commotion didn’t wake up the others, or I’d be more angry at you….”
As he returned up the stairs, Kohaku felt around for the dagger Rigel left her and clutched it, holding it close to her. Rigel… She frowned in disappointment, following Daichi upstairs. Come back…
(Maybe timeskip to next day, when the storm clears up?)
(Sure. But I needa go to bed.)
(Ah, goodnight!)
Rigel slowly peeked his eyes open, shivering under an oak tree, when the rain finally seemed to stop. His clothes were soaked entirely, and he was chilled to the bone. He cautiously took a step away from the tree, looking at the sky. He had been walking for a while, he had been walking overnight. But the pain of sadness didn’t leave him no matter how far away he got.
Kokahu awoke to the sound of chirping birds, and she cracked her eyes open to daylight through her one window. She sat up, finding herself still clutching Rigel's dagger to her chest. She got out of bed and went to the window, opening it up. Rigel…. Where'd you go…?
Daichi opened up her door and gave a light knock. "Good morning, Kohaku. Naoki's making breakfast, so make sure you come down in time."
She nodded but said nothing.
Rigel sat down against the oak tree against, wrapping his arms around himself and trying to stop his shivering. He tried not to wonder if Kohaku and the others were okay, it was for the better that he was gone. Peter wouldn’t hunt them anymore, too.
Kohaku waited until Daichi left before she let out a howling cry, hanging on tight the last bit of him she had. His presence was like that of the sweetest of candy– once she got a taste of his comforting side, his caring side, she couldn't let it go, and all she wanted was more of him.
I need you back, Rigel, She cried. I want you back…
Rigel found hot tears dripping down his own face after a few moments. He wanted to go back, but he wasn’t welcomed there anymore. He wasn’t part of that family. His shoulders shook with silent sobs, and he reached into his pockets. He grabbed a cigarette, one of the only things he had left. He summoned his metal, shaping it to two pieces that had tiny ridges. Then he stuck to two pieces against each other, shooting of a spark which he held the cigarette up to just in time. He smoked it, something he hadn’t done in a long time since he met Kohaku and everyone else. But this time he didn’t care who smelt the scent of smoke, he didn’t care if Peter came to find him.
Daichi returned to Kohaku after a while of waiting for her downstairs. "Kohaku, come on…."
"He thought you were Osore, Daichi," She said, struggling to keep the tears from falling. "…Osore…. Osore!!"
The panda growled at the mentioning of that human. "Betrayal's inevitable when it comes to humans. It's best to get rid of him now than when someone is killed."
He'd never kill anyone, Kohaku was on the brim of exploding in depressing anger, but she did something else– she tried a little masquerading act. "I know…"
Rigel sucked on his cigarette with cold fingers, trying to forget about everything for now. To distract himself from the hole in his heart. To ignore the cold that sunk into his bones.
