"Yeah, well, there are people who call themselves 'Truthers,' that theorize that our government is hiding something from the rest of the general population, and that our whole society is just a big cover-up operation," Amber sighed as well. "Besides, my mom forced me to take AP courses, and I've been totally weighed down in college with loads and loads of homework. It totally sucks."
"Oof," Kiger sympathized. "I hate school workloads. My friends and I usually just don't go, to be honest. Boss, he says it's all just useless propaganda. I don't know if he's right or not, but to be fair, it does seem really biased towards our side of the war."
(Just a quick plot check in, I'm having a ton of fun just with this, but if you wanted, we could have something happen to further the actual plot? I'm totally cool with either, so it's up to you! :D)
(Ack I meant high school not college XD
and sure, I don't mind!)
"…boss? You work?" Amber crinkled up her face and looked at Kiger strangely.
(No worries! xDD And okay! Any ideas? ^^ I've been trying to think of some, but I'll admit I'm a lil stumped xD)
"Oh, no, he's just a friend. His name's Cameron, but he hates that name, so we just shorten his last name to Boss." Kiger thought for a second, before laughing slightly. "He's sort of the leader among us, though. That's ironic. I never thought about that before."
(Hmm, admitedly I don't really have much either, but something random just popped into my head. So if they can only see each other and their own dimension, what if there's a glowing flower that somehow relates to thing?)
(That's a good start! :D Maybe they see it glowing further into the woods, and it takes them to an inetween world when they both touch it, so they have to escape?)
(Ooo yeah! Oof I didn't elaborate further, but Ig you got what I meant (when both characters see the flower for some reason) so that's a good sign)
(Okay, let's do that then! ^^ Haha no worries xDD Yep, i got you! ^^ We're on-lock here xD Who should start it? ^^)
(Cool! I'm just gonna say they are unaware of the whole they can only see each other and there own dimension and whatnot and do)
Out of the corner of her eye, Amber spotted a relatively bright light for a forest, but though it was bright, the light was warm and strangely pleasing. The light was bright enough that she couldn't quite make out what it was, but somehow she knew that she'd be able to see what it was once she got closer. "…I'm going to go investigate something over there," Amber said as she broke away from Kiger, wandering closer to the source of the light. It seemed to be a… flower? How strange.
(Okay, perfect! ^^)
Kiger watched her go, before following her curiously. His eyes widened when he saw the flower, a soft oohh slipping through his lips.
"Wow," he breathed. "How pretty! I've ever seen one of these before, have you?"
(Cool!)
Amber jumped a tiny bit at the sound of his voice, but remembered they could see each other when they were touching. "I don't think so, in my world, it's practically impossible for things to glow. Sure, we have lightbulbs, and we have monitors and whatnot, but natural things like flowers and moss and trees? Glowing flowers or moss is almost unheard of, except in myths," she replied, shaking her head a little bit. "I'm almost tempted to pluck it, but at the same time something tells me not to." She was a bit worried that the flower would stop glowing if she even touched it. It was such a beautiful sight, and she didn't want to disturb it.
"We have some plants that bioluminesce,"Kiger said, creeping forward. "But yeah, not flowers that I know of. He reached out to touch it, then hesitated.
"I'm taking your hand," he warned, before grabbing for her. "I'm gonna touch it, I just, I don't know, wanted to hold on to something in case it yanks me off into some netherworld."
He laughed at his own joke before slowly reaching forward again.
Amber hesitated for a second, and then nodded slowly. A bit startled at the hand that seemingly materialised out of nowhere, she turned to look at the body that came with the hand, and remembered that she'd definitely have to get used to that happening. "Y-yeah, okay. D-don't die, okay?"
Kiger flashed her a grin. "Okay, I'll try my best!"
He hesitated for just a second more, then darted his hand forward and lightly touched on of the petals.
Nothing happened.
He blinked, looking slightly let down. "Oh. Well, that was-"
Then something happened. THe world warped around them, and suddenly a black hole opened behind them, sucking them through, the flower still touching Kiger's fingers. Kiger's scream was whipped away in the wind.
(I hope it's okay that I did that, if you want I can re-write it and we can plan it together, I just thought it would be funny :) But, if you'd rather we can re-do it :D)
(It's totally fine! That is kind of funny.)
"W-wait! What did you do?" Amber yelled, panicking. She looked around frantically, looking for something, anything to grab on to. She wasn't ready to die yet. Not quite yet. Even though her life sucked, she still had so much she wanted to do.
(Yay xD)
Kiger was too caught up in his own scream to answer, but before anything more could be said, there was an almighty crash and they landed.
It took Kiger a few moments to open his eyes, tentatively cracking them open and realizing he was still clinging to Amber.
"Are you okay?" he whispered.
(If you want, you can decide what the world in between looks like :3)
(Okii)
Amber blinked, taking in a shaky breath. “Um… I don’t know? Where are we?” she asked, looking around. It seemed like a normal world, perhaps there might be aspects of Kiger’s world nearby. But the only problem was they weren’t where they were earlier, and the glowy flower thing was nowhere to be seen. “But you’re not dead, right? So that’s good… I guess.”
Kiger looked around, confused. "It…looks about the same. That was freaky. Did something actually happen, or was that just my imagination?" He faltered, unsure.
"But yeah, we're alive, I think, so…that's good, right?" He tried for his usual bright smile, but it was lacking a few of its normal sparkles.
"…I don't know, if we didn't really go anywhere, than we for sure teleported somewhere else, 'cause I don't see that flower anywhere in sight, and this definitely isn't where we were earlier," Amber answered, looking around as well, anxious for anything familiar that wasn't strange. She didn't know why, but she had a bad feeling about this place.
"Uh…That's not good, how do we get back?" Kiger was starting to get genuinely worried. He too, wasn't feeling great about this place, edging closer to Amber nervously.
"I'm not sure… let's just stick close to each other, safety in number, right?" she laughed nervously, but not knowing why she laughed in the first place. There was nothing about their situation that was even remotely funny. "Sorry… I don't know why I laughed."
"No, it's fine," Kiger said, letting out a nervous laugh of his own. "But yeah let's stick together! Hey, can you still not see me if I let go?" he asked, releasing his grip on her hand for a moment.
"…I don't know," she replied, glancing at Kiger nervously. To her surprise, in this new locatioin, somewhere, somehow she could see him. …or at least more than before. It wasn't a clear outline anymore, but more of a ghost-like appearance. The natural backdrop, behind Kiger looked weird now, since she could see straight through him. "Kinda? Like, you look more like a ghost now, but yeah, I can still see you."
"Ooh, spooky," he said with an attempted grin. "Well, that's something, right? Now I don't have to sneak up on you all the time. Now we just have to…get out of here? I guess?" he sounded almost disappointed by the idea, and in part he was. He didn't want to lose his chance at a real adventure, finally, something to add meaning to his life.
You're not out yet, buddy, he reminded himself sternly. You may not even be able to get out.
"…yeah, we do, don't we?" Amber looked around, hoping for an easy way out of here. "You wouldn't happen to notice any easy way out that I haven't seen, would you?"
