"Mom, do you think I'm hearing ghosts again?" she asked her mom. She had heard the voices again but she didn't see anything. Burying her head in her hands, she sighed. "I-I'm sorry for wasting your time… I guess you can go back home…"
"Oh honey, it's not your fault you hear them. There will come a time when you'll be glad you hear them, I just know it." her mom tried tried to reassure her. But Amber had heard this so many times. This is why she couldn't tell anyone about the voices. They always said it was fate, but what if she ended up in a mental hospital before? She was afraid she'd go crazy before long, anyways.
"I AM HERE!" Kiger practically screamed. "Good golly, lady! Please you have to believe me. Look, I can prove I'm real, okay? Just give me a chance."
He went over and poked Amber's arm, hoping against hope she would feel him.
"I just poked you, did you feel that?"
(It's up to you I guess if you wanna have her feel it or not ^^ I gotta go to bed here, so talk tomorrow! ^^)
(Gasp I just got a great idea!!! And okay, I'll see you tomorrow! ^w^)
Amber saw the faint shape of a boy flickering in front of her and she jumped back. "What the hell was that?" she almost yelled. "I swear, I think I saw a ghost!" she cowered close to her mom. "Shhh," her mom tried to reassure her. "I'm here."
(Yay!! I love it, that's so cool :D)
Kiger shook his head in confusion. But something was working, he supposed, so he tried it again, this time grabbing her hand.
"I'm real," he said, staring her dead in the eyes. "I can see you, and hear you. Please, believe me."
(Yeah! I mean, I don't want to torture the poor lil beans too much lel)
When he grabbed her hand and didn't let go, she instinctively flinched and tried to move away. "Please, just tell me who you are," she said in a small voice, looking away with her other hand held up as if that would protect her.
(xDD fair! xD)
"My name's Kiger," he said, feeling bad for making her uncomfortable, but determined to get her to realize he was real. "I don't bite, don't worry," he said with an offered smile. "I just…I need to know if I'm going crazy or what." He tried a short laugh, but the statement was too close to the truth for him to really pull it off.
Her eyes were filled with panic, but she slowly lowered her hand. "I'm not an angel," she whispered again. Amber gave a tiny smile, but it wasn't genuine. "Mom? Dad? Are you seeing this? I'm not going crazy, right?"
Her dad tried to give her a smile but it didn't work. "I'm sorry honey, but I don't see anything."
Amber looked down. "I'm sorry for wasting your time…"
"Oh…sorry?" Kiger offered, utterly baffled. "Listen, I know this is probably a bad time for you, but will you meet me here tonight? I want to know what's going on. I've seen your kind my whole life, I want to get to the bottom of this."
He knew it was a bit of a desperate plea, but he tried to put as much sincerity as he could into the words, hoping against hope that she'd agree. "Don't you want to know what's happening?"
"I just…" Amber sighed. "Everyone thinks I'm crazy for hearing things that aren't even real." Maybe, just maybe, even if this 'Kiger' was real, she could finally have someone to confide in. Someone who would understand. She wasn't crazy, that much she was sure of. But it was driving her nuts, she was constantly stressed.
"Yeah, tell me about it," Kiger muttered. "So will you? We can maybe set all this to rest."
He blinked hopefully at her, crossing his fingers behind his back. Please, please, please, please… he thought over and over.
Amber sucked in her breath. "What time," she finally said in a tense voice. She crossed her arms across her chest and slowly let her breath out.
"Nine?" Kiger asked, hope blooming. "I don't usually go to bed for a long time, so I'm free for as long as we want."
"Fine…" Amber sighed, slowly relaxing, but still wary.
"Great!" Kiger said with a grin. "I'll uh…see you then, then?"
As if on cue, he heard a shout from the forest and heard his friends looking for him.
"I have to go, but be here!"
"Oh, uh, okay then…" when she got back home, the first thing Amber did was look up "Kiger". Over five million hits.Well, that was just great. Was this person even real, or just a figment of her imagination?
(Timeskip to later?)
(Yeah, sure! ^^)
Kiger paced the forest anxiously, staring regularly up at the moon as he waited for Amber to arrive.
What if she's not coming? he wondered. Sighing in frustration, he threw himself down into the grass, closing his eyes and trying to calm down. She'd either be there, or not. He'd wait ten more minutes, then leave.
(Oki!)
Amber sighed, holding her cat close, tucking in her wings with her hand. Maybe… whatever, it was just a meet-up. Nothing more. Or, perhaps a meet-up with her mind. She scoffed. Ugh, whatever this was, it better not be a setup. As she walked into the clearing, she glanced around nervously.
Kiger didn't notice her arrival, he was too caught up in his meditation, trying to keep his mind calm. He focused on slowing his heart, keeping his breathing even, eyes rested closed. He'd never been this close to finding out why he could see an entire set of people that no one else could see, and he was thrilled by the thought, but was determined to keep his cool.
"H-hello?" she called out, nervous. Of course, she could only hear the voices, and couldn't see the people behind them. What if there was more than one person? Crap, she'd forgotten to take precautions…
Kiger shot up like he'd been launched from a rocket. A grin split his face.
"Hi! You came! Oh, my gosh. I can't actually believe you did."
He paused, tilting his head. "Soooo….you can hear me, right?"
"Y-yes, I can hear but not see…" Amber stumbled on her words, looking around. She bit her lip, taking a deep breath in an effort to calm herself.
"You can't see me?" Kiger stopped smiling in confusion. "Okay…well, I'm over here, to your left. Do you think there's any way you can see me?"
"Well, yes of course I can't see you. I've been hearing voices all my life, and diagnosed with schizophrenia. It's not easy living with a mental condition you know you don't have." Amber scowled, remembering old memories. "And probably not, unless you touch me again."
"Oh, wow, that's awful," Kiger sympathized, blinking. "One of my friends hears voices too. They tried to diagnose him with schizophrenia, but he faked it on some of the tests and they sort of gave up. But you said you can see me when I touch you? I guess that makes sense."
"Well, he's lucky then. My mom practically forced the doctors to give me a diagnosis," Amber looked down, hugging herself.
