"No, he needs a hospital. The bullet hit a main artery. If I stitch it now it could cause more damage. I need better tools. I can't work with this. He needs a hospital," Mellissa looked over to Jas.
"No, he needs a hospital. The bullet hit a main artery. If I stitch it now it could cause more damage. I need better tools. I can't work with this. He needs a hospital," Mellissa looked over to Jas.
He nodded, "there's one a few miles from here." he said, slightly worried what would happen if anyone figured out who they were but not caring at the moment. He only wanted to save Nick.
"Call you call them? I can't get him off the bed without something to stabilize him. His heart rate is off the charts," she looked back to Nick.
Kritanta sat on the other side of the bed. "Hey, Nick. You're going to be just fine alright?"
Nick took a deep breath to try to calm himself "I-yeah..i can." he ran to the living room and grabbed his phone "yes1 I need an ambulance, please! Yes, my fiance, he has an open wound and needs a doctor! yes-yes 490 east garalle street, 5 minutes? make it faster please!"
"Go wet another towel. This one has filled with blood already. "He's loosing too much!" she bit her lip nervously.
"Hey, baby, you can do this alright. Just stay as calm as you can, okay?" Kritanta said softly. Mellissa nodded taking a deep breath.
Melissa's panicking only put Jas into a deeper frenzy. He was was only able to nod and rush out of the room to get a fresh towel.
The sirens could be heard and Mellissa has never felt so relieved in her life. "We made it. I need help carrying him out Jas and Kritanta," she said starting to pick him up.
Jas nodded and went over to Nick's head, supporting him by the shoulders "you're gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay," he repeated as he helped thesgirls bring Nick to the ambulance waiting outside
They moved him onto the medical bed. Everyone got in the back of the ambulance as they stabled Nick.
Jas couldn't look at any of them, you should've stayed with him when he went to the casino, shoule've taken the bullet yourself. He took Nick's hand in his and pressed his head against the back of it
(My poor baby don't blame yourself~)
They drove him to the hospital and moved him into the surgery room. Kritanta stopped in front of the doors knowing she couldn't go in.
Jas stood behind Kritanata, also wanting to go in "He'll be okay," He whispered, not sure if he was reassuring her or he was trying to convince himself "He'll be just fine…"
She nodded and sat on the bench, leaning her head on Mellissa's shoulder. "He'll be okay. Right?" he mumbled squeezing Mellissa's hand.
Jas slid to the floor near the doors, not having the energy to go to one of the chairs. He pulled his knees to his chest and rested his head on top of them, crying silently in the corner. Should have stayed, rang in his head until he fell asleep, tears staining his cheek
Kritanta looked over and walked over to Jas. “Hey, it’s not your fault…I promise.” She tapped his shoulder lightly.
Jas picked his head up to look at her, eyes red and tired, "But isn't it? If I had only gone with him into the casino, I could've taken the bullet instead of him."
"No, Jas. Even if you were there. Your guard would be down. All of our guards were down. So, if you should blame anyone, then you should blame everyone. Now, I wanted you to stand up and sit with us. You know Nick wouldn't want you to blame yourself like this," She stroked Jas's hair.
"But at least we could've had a better chance if I were there with him." He sighed softly and tried to smile at her in thanks. He nodded and stood, following her to the waiting room area. "So how are you and Melissa?" he asked, glancing at the girl
She flushed slightly. "W-We're doing good. I think she really likes me. I hope she really likes me. What if she leaves me. SHe's going to leave me. Wait maybe she won't. I don't know!" he wined.
Jas managed a laugh through the sadness "She won't leave you, she wouldn't have come if she didn't care for you and Nick." He patted her back gently and sat down, curling up in the chair.
"Thank you Jas," she smiled. The belled rang signaling that the surgery was done. "The doctors coming!"
"Kritana correct? He's just fine. All he needs is rest and he will be ready to go. When you guys take him next week. Make sure he eats and gets lots of water. Make sure you have an eye on him at all times. Make sure he's not getting up on his own and doing anything that could cause damage. He's awake now if you would like to go see him."
Jas jerked awake when a bell rang, he walked up with Kritanata, making a mental note of everything he instructed, relief coursing through him as the doctor said he'd be able to leave in a week.
"Do you want to talk to him alone, I can wait out here if you do," He said to Kritanta
She shook her head. "You go first. We'll wait out here. We want you to be the first person he sees okay?" she smiled moving her hand toward the door.
He smiled gratefully at her and followed the doctor to Nick's room. The doctor nodded and left him alone. Jas nervously walked into the room , seeing Nick in the bed, hooked up to machines. He pulled up a chair next to the bed and gently took his hand in his own. "Nick?" he whispered softly, voice breaking slightly
“Jas…?” He said in a weak voice. “Hey…”
