Arvil chewed on his bottom lip, pulling away his hand to clasp his fingers around his coffee mug. He took a sip.
“Toasted, but no butter,” he told her after swallowing the slightly bitter drink. “And I like sunny-side-up.”
Arvil chewed on his bottom lip, pulling away his hand to clasp his fingers around his coffee mug. He took a sip.
“Toasted, but no butter,” he told her after swallowing the slightly bitter drink. “And I like sunny-side-up.”
Daisy hummed, nodding slowly as she made a mental note of that in her head.
“All right. You’ll have to show me where everything is,” she reminded him, taking a small sip of her own coffee.
“I do remember that,” Arvil hummed. “And of course, I’ll be your helper, so… you wouldn’t have any problems.”
Daisy chuckled softly, nodding. “Of course. Want to start when we finish out coffee?”
"Sure, why not?" Arvil smiled, his eyes falling on the ring on her finger before he turned his attention to his coffee. "Mine is almost finished."
Daisy watched Arvil’s eyes drop, and she followed his line of sight. When she looked down, she realized that he had been looking at her hand… and the ring on her finger. A small breath loosed from her lips when she caught it sparkling slightly in the light.
“I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet,” she admitted in a breathy whisper, holding out her hand and wriggling her fingers to make the jewels glitter. “I am married…”
“You’re not alone,” Arvil said quietly, his attention on his coffee mug. “We’ll get used to it soon. It takes time, I suppose.”
More so when it’s a fake relationship.
Daisy blinked and looked up. Alone? She wasn’t thinking that she was alone… It just was still a surprise to her.
“Oh. Yeah, I know… Thank you, Arvil,” she murmured, looking up at him over the rim of her mug. “And, yeah, I guess it will take some time.”
Possibly more than I had thought…
Arvil hummed, taking a sip of his coffee. He didn’t know what else to say, so he just remained quiet, opting to drink instead.
After the couple made breakfast and finished the last bit of packing they had to do, they made their way outside. Arvil already had a car waiting for them, ready to take them to the airport.
“You had a car waiting for us already?” Daisy mused as they sat down in the back seats.
“Of course,” Arvil chuckled, shutting the door after they were both settled. Since they were married in the public eye, he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close. “Who do you think I am?”
“Well, I wasn’t expecting to have a driver take us to the airport. I thought we’d take a car and drive ourselves,” Daisy said with a shrug. “I guess I should expect this more often, huh?”
Arvil smirked at her, a little cockiness present in his features. “And much more,” he assured her smugly. “You’re married to Arvil Davis, Darling.”
Daisy rolled her eyes and poked him in the leg. “Of course. I wouldn’t doubt it,” she teased with a small smile.
“You’d better not” Arvil chuckled, though he didn’t snatch her hand like he usually did.
After a few minutes, they reached the airport.
“Here we are,” Arvil murmured as he grabbed two suitcases. “How much time do we have before we need to be seated, Daisy?”
Daisy glanced at a clock on the wall before turning back to Arvil. “About half an hour. We got here a little early, which is good,” she said as she leaned against him. The action was both for comfort and for show, but she was definitely glad of the need for the show of affection.
Arvil nuzzled the side of her head, breathing her in. It would have made him feel better had this been real.
“It does take a while to get through security,” he agreed. “Come on, then. Let’s go.”
Daisy hummed, wishing she could just be in his arms but knowing they didn’t have that luxury. Plus, they weren’t really married. They were faking it for the media.
“All right, I’m coming,” she said, trying to take her bag from him. “Let me pull that. It’s not that heavy.”
“Hey, I’ve got this,” Arvil said, not letting her take the suitcase from him. “It’s fine.”
With a smile in her direction, he turned to walk inside the airport. It was a miracle there was no paparazzi here… and a huge relief.
“Arvil, really. I can take it. It’ll be fine,” Daisy insisted, placing her hand over his to get him to let go.
Plus, then we can walk arm-in-arm…
Arvil sighed. “You know I don’t mind carrying your bag. It’s really no problem.”
Daisy huffed a soft sigh, nodding once. “All right… Let’s hurry, then. Don’t want to be late to the flight,” she murmured.
Arvil frowned down at her, taking note of her disappointment, but he didn’t do anything about it.
Soon, they had cleared through the security and were now finding their spots on the plane. He had gotten them first class tickets, because if they were flying, they needed to fly in comfort.
“You want the window seat?” he asked her as they tried to find their seats.
Daisy glanced around wide-eyed. She had never flown first class, nor in her life. The best she had flown in was business class, but that wasn’t as good as first was. First class was…
“Woah…” she breathed before finally drawing her gaze back up to Arvil. “You bought us first class tickets? Arvil… C’mon, you know you didn’t have to.”
Arvil gave her a teasing wink. “Hey, gotta make my wife comfortable, no?”
He hated being uncomfortable during plane rides. It was bothersome and annoying, and he liked being comfortable. Besides, Daisy’s comfort mattered the most to him. First class was expensive, but he didn’t mind doing that for her.
