Arvil smiled at her, and then turned his attention to the officiant, even when he couldn’t think of anything other than his beautiful bride next to him.

“Groom, you may now speak your vows to your bride,” the officiate’s voice broke through his thoughts, and for a second, Arvil paused. Then he turned towards Daisy again, and gave her a soft smile.

“I didn’t really write anything to say, because I didn’t want to read off of it, but… I’ll keep it short and simple,” Arvil paused, searching her face, her left hand still in his. “We got off on a terrible start. You were honestly just someone I found amusing. You didn’t fall at my feet like any other woman, and I was attracted to that. But then I got to know you, and… here we are, at our wedding. As long as you are married to me, I promise you that there won’t ever be quite in your life. I’ll bother you. I’ll annoy you, and I’ll make you want to rip your hair out. I won’t lie. I already do that, anyway. But I can also promise you that I will care for you, I will do everything in my power to make sure you are satisfied, happy and healthy. Your burdens are mine, and your worries are mine, and I’ll try my hardest in making sure you are never alone in facing them,” his eyes fell on to her hand, which he lifted up, a ring in his other hand. “I love you, Daisy Riley.” then he slid the ring in her finger.

Daisy couldn’t help but watch Arvil as he spoke. He looked so genuine, so sincere… And his voice sounded even more so.

She had to blink a couple of times to keep her tears at bay, her eyes stinging as he finished. Her breath caught when she heard his last words, and she had to take a shuddering breath in to steady herself.

”I love you, Daisy Riley…”

And then there was a ring on her finger, a perfect circle uninterrupted by any stone like the engagement ring was. She cast a quick glance down at it, only to be surprised that she couldn’t see it for the tears that were in the way. A couple of blinks had them dropping to the ground, and she looked back up at Arvil with a wobbly smile to mouth to him, “Thank you.

“When I first met you,” she started quietly, looking up into her husband-to-be’s eyes, “I didn’t know what to think of you. You are arrogant and thought you were so amazing. Actually… You are still like that.” She chuckled softly as she gained a bit more confidence and raised her voice to be heard better. “I didn’t know what to think of you. There was a very attractive man paying me attention, and he was actually being kind? That wasn’t something I got every day before you came along. Now, I can’t go a day without you complimenting me, and I really like that. I love it.

“So, Arvil Davis, my promise to you is to be as kind and affectionate to you as you have been to me. I will be your shoulder to lean on when work is tough. I will be the person you can come to when you just want to talk. I will be there for you, no matter the time or place or need, and I will help you in whatever way I can… That is my vow to you.

“My almost-husband… I promise to be not only your wife, but also your friend. Always there, always listening, and always loving you. I love you, too, Arvil,” she ended with a whisper, sliding the band onto his finger.

At her first words, Arvil shot her a smirk as if to say, ‘you know it.’ But then she was continuing, and the more she talked, the harder it was getting to breathe. Those words she spoke, they sounded so sincere. If this was an act, she deserved an award for it, because she was amazing. It felt like she was speaking those words from her heart.

“I pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant declared, clasping his hands together. “You may now kiss the bride.”

Arvil took her face in his hands and pressed their foreheads together gently at first. He released a breath, letting his eyes close.

“I hope your makeup is waterproof,” he joked quietly, gently wiping the tears that had slipped from her eyes. “Though even if it isn't, it wouldn’t affect your beauty at all.”

And then he softly pressed their lips together.

”…You may now kiss the bride…”

Any other words that might have been spoken blew past Daisy. She was too lost in Arvil’s eyes, in what he was saying, in his hands on her face, that she didn’t even hear if anything else was said.

Her smile grew a bit, and she leaned into his touches. He was either trying to make her laugh or just wanted to see her smile more. Either way, she wasn’t complaining…

And then his lips were on hers, and she was kissing him back. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing closer to him. If only they were alone and didn’t have the audience… Maybe this kiss could be a bit more intimate then…

After a few seconds, Arvil pulled away, but he didn't let go of her. He rubbed her cheeks softly before letting out a soft sigh against her. Gosh, she looked absolutely stunning. She had no idea what kind of effect she had on him, not that he was complaining. He'd rather she didn't know. He didn't want their relationship to be damaged.

"So, Mrs. Davis," he murmured, slowly opening her eyes to look at her. "Are you feeling okay?

She was officially his wife now. Mrs. Davis. He was a married man. It was still surprising, even if it wasn't real. He wished it was, though. He wished this marriage would last forever, but… it wasn't like everyone got everything that they wanted.

Mrs. Davis…

That was going to take some getting used to, wasn’t it? She was now Mrs. Daisy Davis, wife of Arvil Davis. Now that was something to wrap her head around.

“Okay? Could I be anything but?” she asked, murmuring as she opened her eyes to look up at him.

Arvil smiled down at her, eyes locking with hers immediately.

“Just confirming,” he murmured back. “So, shall we get to our next activity?”

“I did not,” Arvil kissed the top of her nose affectionately. “Come on then, wife. Let’s go.”

Daisy huffed, playfully shoving him in the chest before turning to smile at the guests. As they walked up the aisle together, she kept a tight hold of Arvil’s hand, her own slightly shaking again.

Arvil laughed at her, almost grabbing her hand again, but then she was turning around. She started walking, so Arvil naturally followed. When he felt her hand shake, he gave it a light squeeze.

“Don’t close your eyes in the pictures,” he teased her. “That would be terrible.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Me? Close my eyes for pictures? I’d never. Not unless it was for a specific reason,” Daisy chuckled softly, giving his hand a light squeeze back. “Oh, and… Thank you. For what you said…”

Arvil furrowed his eyebrows at her, keeping his tight hold on her hand. “For what…?”

Arvil slipped his hand out of her hold, only to wrap his arm around her shoulders. He kissed the top of her head gently.

“I meant what I said,” he told her quietly. “Thank you for yours, too, Daisy. Just know that what I’m doing for you isn’t because I have to, or because it’s my responsibility. I want to do it.”

If Daisy’s cheeks weren’t already burning, she’d be as bright red as a tomato from that comment. She leaned into his side further as they made their way to where they would be taking pictures, smiling down at the ground while they walked.

“Well… I meant mine, too,” she said softly. “Even if we end up as just friends in the end, I’ll be there for you.”

What if I don’t want to be just friends?

“Thank you,” he said softly instead. “Come on, let’s get our pictures taken.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Of course. It’s not a wedding without the photography aspects of the occasion,” Daisy said with a slight chuckle as they walked over to the camera person to discuss pictures.

[TIME SKIP: AFTER THE WEDDING]

Though Arvil had greatly enjoyed the wedding, he was relieved when it was over. It was somewhat hard to pretend that their feelings of love were mutual. They did a good job but at the end of the day… it was only one-sided. Plus, there were many guests, and many guests meant so much conversation.

In fact, someone had even dared to joke about them having a baby during their honeymoon. It was ridiculous. He didn't bother telling them there would be no children–at least, not yet. They wouldn't understand.

But now it was time to go home. Daisy looked exhausted, too. And it was a given she'd be tired.

"Ready to go home?" he murmured to her from behind her, taking off his coat and resting it on her shoulders. It was chilly. He should've given it to her earlier… He didn't remove his hands from her shoulders. He only leaned down to continue. "You must be exhausted."

It had been a long day. There were way too many people there for Daisy’s comfort, but she managed to make it through the night. With Arvil at her side brushing away any questions that would be too hard for her to explain, it didn’t go as badly as it could have. She was very grateful to have him in those moments.

As they were finally walking back to their car, having snuck out while everyone was distracted by dancing, she ran through the day’s events in her mind. After the ceremony, they’d done pictures together, some of them requiring the newlyweds to kiss or look at each other lovingly. Those were the hardest. Not the kissing ones, but the ones where they had to look at each other that way. She had a hard time reigning in her emotions after those…

After pictures, everyone ate food, they danced, and then they cut the cake. She’d managed to smash a piece onto Arvil’s mouth after he’d fed her a piece, and he’d retaliated with another piece on her face. Overall, it hadn’t been too bad, aside from the questions.

Daisy felt a jacket being wrapped around her as her husband’s voice reached her ears. She looked up to meet his eyes, somewhat startled by how close he was to her.

“Is it that obvious?” she quietly asked with a chuckle. Her gaze flirted over his face, and she reached out to tap on a tired line on his forehead. “But you look tired, too. We should both go home to sleep, I suppose…”

Arvil closed his eyes and breathed in, furrowing his eyebrows at the tap on his forehead. There was still cake stuck to the corner of her cheek, but Arvil didn't remove it. He had found it funny.

"We should," he murmured in reply. He hadn't slept very well the other night, either. "I could sleep for an entire week."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy ran her thumb over the line before her hand drifted down to his cheek. She continued to look him over for a moment before patting his cheek gently and pulling her hand away.

“Let’s go home,” she whispered, meeting his eyes.

Arvil had just leaned against her hand when she ended up pulling away. He bit back a sigh.

“We should say goodbye first,” Arvil said, turning back to where he could still hear chatters, though not as loud. Some people had already left. “And then go home.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Nobody will notice we’re even gone, trust me. They’re all distracted by food and cake and dancing,” Daisy murmured, grabbing one of his hands from where it had been resting on her shoulder. “C’mon. We’re both exhausted. We need sleep.”

Arvil sighed and squeezed her hand, knowing she was right. They were both exhausted, and they needed rest.

“All right,” he nodded. “The sooner we get home, the sooner we can sleep.”

Arvil unlocked the doors to his house, stepping back to let Daisy enter first. Some of her stuff had been moved in already, but they still needed to bring in most of it.

“Your room’s in the same hallway as mine, but there’s another room between ours,” he said to her tiredly. “You can shower, too, if you’d like.”
