A smile tugged on Daisy’s lips. He wanted to see her before their wedding… And he wanted to make sure she was okay… That was really sweet of him, something that she— that she really liked about him.
“Well… Your bride is currently trying to eat her breakfast, but maybe if you hurry she might have time to make you breakfast, too,” Daisy mused softly. “Because I have a feeling that you haven’t eaten yet.”
Arvil immediately picked himself up from the chair, a chuckle leaving his lips the same second he snatched his keys up. He had been tinkering with them for quite a while, wondering if he should go see her.
“You know me so well,” he said cheekily, no hint of embarrassment in his voice. He made his way to the door. “I’m coming over right now. Will be there in ten max.”
“Ten? Really? Arvil, please don’t be reckless. Drive carefully,” Daisy sighed, shaking her head as she picked up her fork. “Now, get off the phone so I can eat. Goodbye… fiancé.”
“I’ll be careful,” Arvil promised as he locked the door behind himself. He quickly made his way to his car, which he unlocked without delay. “I’ll see you soon, fiancée.”
Daisy was still smiling when they hung up. And while she ate her breakfast. And even a little bit while she quickly cleaned her dishes and started on Arvil’s food.
The man was just too kind, honestly. It was almost as if he’d do anything for her. Making him food was the least she could do.
Arvil tried to avoid speeding, but it hard. Unfortunately, he took about fifteen minutes to get to Daisy. Gosh, he really wanted to see her, didn’t he? Of course he did. He always did.
And the elevators were annoyingly slow. He should’ve taken the stairs… finally, after a few torturous minutes, he was outside her door. He knocked and then waited.
Daisy looked up at the sound of a knock and turned the stove off. She grabbed a plate, put the food on it, then set it and a fork on the table.
“Come in, Arvil! It’s unlocked,” she called, running her fingers though her hair a couple of times to make sure it was at least somewhat presentable.
Arvil opened the door and stepped inside, breathing in heavily. He took off his shoes, set them neatly against the wall, and then closed the door behind himself.
He slowly walked into the kitchen, eyes finding Daisy immediately.
“Hello, beautiful,” he grinned at her, almost reaching to her to kiss her before he realized what he was doing, and stopped. “What did you make? It smells heavenly.”
“It’s just eggs, nothing fancy. You really did get here quickly,” Daisy mused softly, smiling up at him. She noticed him lean in a little closer than normal but decided to not say anything of it. Why would she when she didn’t even know what to say?
“I wanted to see you,” Arvil shrugged, smiling back at her. “And eat your food. Anything you make is fancy enough, anyway.”
Daisy rolled her eyes and playfully poked him in the arm. “Go eat, Arvil. I don’t want you passing out from hunger during the wedding.”
“All right, no need to be so aggressive,” Arvil teased as he walked over to the table. “Are you at least sitting with me?”
Daisy pulled her phone from her back pocket and glanced down at it. She shrugged, moving to sit across from him.
“I could do that,” she mused as she took her seat.
“Perfect,” Arvil smiled and took a bite out of his food. “So… probably a really bad question, but have you decided when you’re going to move in your stuff?”
“Why would that be a bad question?” Daisy asked, tilting her head to the side a bit. “I was thinking as soon as I move in… So probably as soon as possible.”
“So in a week, then,” Arvil hummed, swallowing the bite he was chewing. “I’ve already prepared a room for you, but you can decorate it yourself, obviously.”
Daisy nodded slowly. “Right, yeah. Thank you,” she said softly.
“No problem,” he said just as softly. “When do you have to leave to start preparing?”
Daisy glanced down at her phone to check the time. “Um. As soon as you finish eating, actually. As long as you don’t take more than ten minutes.”
“Well, fortunately for you, I won’t take more than ten minutes,” Arvil chuckled, already done with half the food.
“Well, good,” Daisy said with a small smile and a chuckle.
[TIME SKIP: Wedding Ceremony]
It was time. A few hours ago, it hadn't settled in Arvil's head that he was about to marry Daisy Riley. But now… hours later, standing at the altar, Arvil finally began to feel the nervousness flow in his system. Outside, he was calm and nonchalant. On the inside, he was a mess. He was about to marry Daisy. In just a few minutes, she'd be walking to him, and they'd be saying their vows, and she'd be his wife.
He honestly didn't think they'd be coming this far in their fake relationship. It had just been about getting Gavril (or just Garbage, if you asked Arvil) off of Daisy's back, but… in the end, they proceeded with the marriage itself. It wasn't like the man didn't have his own dreams of a perfect marriage, like Daisy. He did, but he never paid it much attention. Work was what kept him so occupied. Even at the age of twenty-seven, he hadn't thought of getting married.
And then Daisy Riley rolled in, and they sprouted the biggest lie to the world. And then his amusement became infatuation, and… he fell for the woman. He hadn't confessed. He didn't think he ever would. They'd be married for a few months, pretend to have a fall-out and then… go on their separate ways. Arvil would once again be caught up in his work. She'd work on her career.
Noah, his best man and his secretary, gave him a look. Whether he was worried or not, Arvil didn't know. It was a look that told him it was nearly time. So Arvil took a deep breath and waited for his bride to come to him.

Five minutes…
Four minutes…
Three minutes…
Two minutes…
One minute…
One minute left.
Thirty seconds until Daisy would be walking down the aisle toward Arvil. Twenty seconds until she would step through that door and be on her way to—
No. No, this wasn’t the rest of her life. This was her next few months.
And somehow that made it even harder. Maybe if she just pretended that it was the rest of her life instead of the next few months, it would be easier. Maybe she wouldn’t feel so sick with anticipation. Maybe she wouldn’t wonder what the crowd would be thinking about her, about her dress, about her hair, about Arvil, even… Maybe she would make it through the ceremony without shedding a tear. Just maybe…
Ten seconds…
Five…
Four…
Three…
Two…
One.
She took a deep breath as the doors, those magnificent, beautiful doors, opened to reveal a room full of people she hardly knew. A smile grew on her face, though, as she saw Arvil standing at the other end of the room. He looked… so dang handsome in that suit. How could she not be smiling at him, and at the look on his face when he saw her.
Oh, gosh, she was going to cry. She couldn’t cry. No, no she couldn’t. It would— It’d ruin her makeup. Yeah. That’s why.

When Daisy walked through the door, and when Arvil’s eyes caught her figure, his entire world froze. His breath caught in his throat, and his eyes were slightly wide.
She looked… God, beautiful wasn’t even the right word to describe how she looked. Arvil could go on and on, but there wouldn’t be enough words to express his feelings. He couldn’t look away. He didn’t want to look away.
That woman… she was going to be his wife. Even if it was a fake marriage… even if they weren’t really together, he had never felt so lucky. He just couldn’t wait to spend the little time he had with her. He wished he had more than a few months.
Then she was right next to him and Arvil released a breath he didn’t know he was hold. Suddenly, everyone else just seemed to disappear. He reached for her hand and gave it a light squeeze. Then he was leaning close to her ear to whisper some words.
“You look beautiful, Daisy,” he whispered, having to force the words out. “So goddamn beautiful.”
Daisy didn’t want to look at the officiate when he spoke, her eyes glued to Arvil. That suit on him just… She could hardly believe her eyes. He looked amazing. Really, truly amazing.
And he would be all hers. At least for the next few months, but that should be enough. Right? She could get over her giant little crush in a few months, couldn’t she?
And then his mouth was moving and words were coming out, and she had to mentally shake herself from her stupor. When she finally caught onto what he said, she blushed and smiled up at him even wider than before.
“Thank you,” she whispered back, her shaking hand squeezing his back. “You look just… wow… Silver looks amazing on you.”
