She huffed and scowled at him as she followed him up the stairs. When she saw the men cleaning and shook her head, nodding slightly in respect at Jerome. He knew how to keep his crew in order. She walked over to Jerome, careful not to step on any of the crewmates, though she was tempted to when she saw Lemony. "What's this 'hangover specialty?" She asked, "Since Alro had chosen not to answer my question." She shot a glare at him before looking back up at the captain, crossing her arms as she waited for his answer.
The crew all looked at her shocked like she did something terrible when she asked. Jerome noticed while smirking and shook his head. "Remember lads, if you are to win the Hangover specialty, you have to work hard, so in terms of speaking, back to it!" The crew immediately started back to their work as he shouted that. "Ah it seems Alro kept up with the Hangover specialty, good lad he is. If you want to know, I suggest you start working m'lady to find out."
"Call me Reva, or don't call me anything at all. I hate being called lass or m'lady or any other stupid name from the land. that's associated with ladies who walk around in dresses and can't handle the sea," Reva said with a scowl, "I'll work, but I refuse to clean the ship, I'll do something else." She turned on her heel and walked to the edge of the ship, leaning against it and enjoying the fresh air. Her stomach growled softly and for the first time since she had come onto the ship she was hungry.
Jerome shook his head smiling softly. "M'lady suits you! Maybe its because you both are so entitled." He had called out towards her. He felt like telling her what was the Hangover specialty, but figured if she was going to be stubborn someone else could inform her. John had walked towards Reva, looking out to the sea. "You might wanna get to work if you want the Hangover specialty, most of of the men here are almost done with their work."
She shrugged, "Maybe, or I could just not work and figure out what the Hangover specialty is before I decide if I'll work the next time. What else could I be doing instead of cleaning the ship? What else has to be cleaned or fixed?" Reva looked out over the sea and shook her head, glancing at John, "May I ask a question? Why does Lemony not like me? Beside the fact that I'm not a very likeable person in the first place and I can be quite mean."
"Hah, your choice. Just to answer what you wanna know about the Hangover specialty, whoever works the most gets the captains quarters for three days and dont have to work for a week. As for Lemony…" John sighed and shook his head. "Lemony has been with the boy Jerome, longer than anyone here, with me second. Lemony has never liked new crewmates, especially woman. With Jerome being so welcome of crewmates in all, he has no liking to whoever peaks the interest of the captain to say the least, which is you."
"I'm interesting to the captain?" She said with a short laugh, "I doubt that." Reva stood up straight and crossed her arms again, looking around for something to do, "I don't really need to win the Hangover specialty, but it would be nice, as long as I'm getting that cabin to myself. What work is there to do around here? Any sails need mending? Anything like that?" The thought of getting to sleep in a room again, without having to deal with anyone else was quite nice, though she wouldn't care if someone else won.
"You can doubt it as much as you want, i've been with the captain long enough to know when someone interests the boy. He is a young lad after all, not hard to tell when he's interested by something, and you could always help the men fixing the mast's broken parts or help with the ships sea barnacles." John stood up straight ward and turned around, "I'll be getting back work though, I hear word that the captain has decided to put something extra into the Hangover special, and that boy is good with surprises." Letting out a deep chuckle he walked off.
Reva rolled her eyes and headed towards Jerome again, weaving around crewmates and stopping in front of him, "I heard that I could help fix the mast, is that true?" She asked, looking up at it with a faint smile before focusing back at him, her smile almost gone. Repairing the mast actually sounded almost like fun, and it could help her win this treasured Hangover special and Jerome's added prize.
Jerome tilted his head and smiled. "Ah so she has heard eh? Well yes it is true, you see getting hit by cannons does some damage doesn't it?" The sudden interest in fixing the mast made him question her actions, she didn't seem like one to partake in these helping with the ship. "So why the sudden interest in fixing the mast? It wouldn't have something to do with the Hangover specialty now would it?"
"No, I just want to have an excuse to climb the mast and jump into the sea," She said very sarcastically, scowling at him, "What do you think. Even if I don't want to win the Hangover specialty I could trade it among the crew." Climbing the mast was something she did often on the Blind Doom, it helped her think and most of the other crew wasn't too fond of climbing up after her to tell her to come down. She noticed that he hadn't called her m'lady or lass, which made her quite happy. He actually seemed to have listened to her for once.
"Oh so you just want to climb the mast, I see" Jerome chuckled, shaking his head he leaned on the side of the ship. "Someone who wants to trade the Hangover specialty, my my what news to my ears. I wouldn't think any of my crewmates would even accept a trade, it would hurt a man's pride." He clicked his tongue and turned to face her directly. "Well have fun with fixing the mast, the men here are working hard and I don't think there will be much left for you to do, tick tock Reva." Winking at her he walked off to go talk with some other crewmates.
(I'm going to let you know now, I'm not going to be on much, if at all these next two or three days (Besides when I'm at school) , I'm staying at my grandparents and they don't have wifi)
With his response in her mind she scowled again and turned on her heel, looking around for some supplies and quickly finding them before walking over to the mast. She stood in front of it and looked up for a minute before searching for a slightly easier way to get up. Reva rolled her neck and shrugged when she didn't see anything that was challenging and fun and she started scaling the mast like she had done it a hundred times.
(Noted)
Jerome strolled around the ship talking with crewmates every once in a while. Looking around, he was impressed. It was no surprise with how hard the crewmates were working though, they always loved it when he did the Hangover Specialty. This time got everyone even more excited when they found out he had a new surprise with it, he couldn't wait to see the winners reaction. Looking around and deciding to help he went to work and took his shirt off to work like most of the young men of the crew. He was hoping one of the new crewmates would win.
Reva climbed with relative ease, soon getting to the top of the mast. She sat on the beam that held up the sail and looked down at the crew, a small smile on her face as she let herself rest for a moment and regain her strength from climbing. The mast looked to be in fairly good condition to her besides a few spots that desperately needed repairs. The sail seemed to be mostly unharmed as well, there was one spot that caught her eye though since it seemed quite damaged.
Alro finished with getting the barnacles threatening the ships sides and raised himself up to the deck. The ship was coming along admirably except for some repairs that were needed, but besides that it was looking good. Wanting to be able to finish the ship to see who would win this oh so special Hangover specialty, he climbed up into the crows nest. Since part of it had been broken he decided to fix it, pondering on whether he would help fix the mast.
The mast was already looking better, with Reva hard at work. She was currently hanging almost upside down with her legs hooked around one of the beams as she repaired part of it. Her hair was braided back still but it fell in her face anyway, dancing in the wind as she concentrated on the mast and winning this Hangover special. The sail wasn't fixed yet and she planned to do that next, glancing at the hole and figuring what she would need to fix it.
After fixing the part of the crows nest Alro could, he went around to see what he could do. Jumping on the beams like he had no sense of safety he earned a few "Be careful up there twinkle toes." from some crewmates working on deck. Still jumping from beam to beam he went around as if he hadn't heard the other mens warnings. Smiling broadly he spotted Reva and plopped down on a beam next to her. "How's it going there?"
(I'm back earlier than I expected and should be on all of tonight)
"Pretty good," She said, hanging on a hair tighter when he came over, just enough to make sure she wouldn't fall, "I have this to finish up and then I'm working on the sail." A small gust of wind blew by and she huffed, looking at the sail before jabbing her chin towards the decent sized hole obviously from a cannon ball. After finishing her repairs on the beam Reva swung herself upright on the beam, brushing her hair out of her face, "What about you? Do you think you'll win this Hangover specialty?"
(Okie dokie)
Alro merely shrugged with a smile still planted on his face. "I'm not too worried about winning the Hangover specialty. It would be real nice to win, but i'm not to keen on it. After all, those men are the ones who really love the Hangover specialty, which is why captain made it in the first place. He looked about the ship, watching the men who were working, "How about ya? Think you'll win?
She matched his shrug, "Possibly. It would be nice and I would like it, but I'm not going to make a huge commotion about not winning," She said with a grin, looking over at him over at him, "Key word there is huge." Reva rolled her shoulder and looked down at the deck, giving herself a break and watching the crewmates work for this treasured prize. The whole thing seemed almost pointless to her. There was no real way for Jerome to choose which crewmate had worked the most, though the whole idea of getting the captains quarters to yourself for three days and not having to work did make her want to win.
"That's what every crewmate says, until they win that is." He continued smiling and looking at the workers on the deck. Jerome had finished with working with the crew mates on the side of the ship and stopped to observe the working crew. Grinning he strolled about the ship and watched the crew. Finally stopping in the middle of the ship, he put his fingers to his mouth and blew a loud whistle, one that made the crew start working ten times harder. Alro shook his head while smiling. "It seems the time is almost up."
"Then I better get to work on that sail." She said, standing up carefully on the beam and nodding to him with a grin, "I suppose I could wish you good luck, but I won't." She chuckled and headed towards the hole without a second glance at Alro, looking down at Jerome for a moment before getting to work. The hole wasn't as bad as some that she had seen, where the whole sail had many holes and it was almost falling apart which mad wit quite easy to fix. A small patch of cloth and some handiwork and it was done, giving her time to look around at the sea for a moment.
Alro shook his head and jumped down to the deck with no caution, causing some complaints from the crewmates who had warned him earlier. It was at this point Jerome was by now just observing the crewmates. He remained grinning and strolled around like before. Looking up he saw Reva working. She was peculiar to him. "Alrighty crewmates, your time is almost up! Hurry up with your work now!" He shouted the orders throughout the ship.
Reva scanned the deck of the ship and found that Jerome was looking up at her before he shouted orders. She huffed and shook her head, she refused to admit that she was curious about the captain and wanted to see how he felt about her. She decided that she would most likely have to go down there to see who won after she pushed the thoughts of Jerome out of her mind. Again she started down the mast, shimmying down carefully and stopping for a moment right above the crew. They were finishing up their work and she was carefull to stay out of their way as she landed on the deck and leaned against the mast casually.
