Connor let out a breath. "What are yeh readin'?" he asked curiously.
Connor let out a breath. "What are yeh readin'?" he asked curiously.
“I’m supposed to be reading Twelfth Night for class. It’s not too bad.” Wilhelm held up the book, showing off its simple hardcover.
"Ah. Ah've go' Hamlet." he replied, showing Wilhelm. "No' fer class, though."
“Mhm.. is it good?” He tipped his head, shutting his book for a moment.
He nodded. "Yeah. Ah've read 't before, bu'…" he srhugged his shoulders slightly. "Why not read it again?"
“I guess so. I’ve never found myself able to reread books.” Wilhelm shrugged, rolling his neck. “They just aren’t as interesting the second time.”
He stared at Wilhelm. "What? Bu' tha's…" he trailed off, shaking his head. "Tha's terrible! There're always new things in books the second time through!"
“I beg to differ. I take notes. I have impeccable attention to detail.” Wilhelm failed to mention that he almost exclusively read memoirs, nonfiction, and theory.
Connor stuck his tongue out and made a farting noise with it. "Gross. Books are meant ta be enjoyed."
“Right. That’s me enjoying it. I find that I comprehend much better when I can mark text and make notes in the margins, you should try it sometime.”
Connor roles his eyes. "Gross." He repeated. "Ah cannae enjoy a book if ah'm foocking markin' it oop tha whole time."
“Then we simply have different reading styles, I suppose. Some of us like to mark the important bits for later reference, some.. remember them..?” Wilhelm was assuming that part, though he also knew that Connor probably read much more fiction than he did. Thus, wouldn’t exactly need to take notes.
"Yes, ah foocking remember 'em, or ah reread them!" he said dramatically.
“Relax, they’re just books. I won’t crucify you for reading your own weird way.” Wilhelm teased Connor, a tiny little grin on his face.
"Yer the weird one!" Connor fired back, wrinkling his nose and crossing his arms.
“Oh, come off it. Care to explain why my method is weird?” Wilhelm narrowed his eyes in faux-challenge.
"Yeh take nootes!" Connor threw out an arm. "Yer suppoosed ter jus' enjoy th' book, no' take foocking notes the whole go'damned time!"
“Oh, relax! It’s a book, not a goddamn speech, for god’s sake!” Wilhelm huffed, rolling his eyes.
"Exactly! Yeh take notes on speeches, bu' no' on books, yeh uncultured heathen!" Connor replied, grimacing.
“What kind of books are you reading where you don’t need to take any notes, huh?” Wilhelm pressed, leaning forward on his bed.
(Gtg soon)
"Hamlet!" He held it up. "Or…like…all of them! What books are you readin' tha' yer takin' notes?"
“Fiction. That explains it.” Wilhelm sighed. “I read nonfiction. Textbooks. Theory. Plant studies and things like that.”
"Gross." he said again. "Nonfiction. No wonder yer so backwards wi' how yeh read yer books."
“Oh, hush it.” Wilhelm snorted. “They’re interesting, Connor. Some of us like to learn.”
"Yeh can learn more aboot people when yeh read real books." Connor replied, wrinkling his nose.
