Wilhelm drummed his fingers on his lap for a moment, finally speaking up. “Your necklace.. tell me if it’s none of my business, but what’s the story behind it? You seem concentrated on it, if I’m not wrong.”
Wilhelm drummed his fingers on his lap for a moment, finally speaking up. “Your necklace.. tell me if it’s none of my business, but what’s the story behind it? You seem concentrated on it, if I’m not wrong.”
"Oh." Connor looked over at Wilhelm. "It was m' mother's." he said softly. "It's…th' only thing of hers left that ah've got."
“Oh, wow.” He said softly. “I’m not sure why I didn’t guess that, actually.”
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah. She wore it every day." he smiled a little bit at the memory.
(I’m probably gonna go to bed now, gn!)
Wilhelm nodded, remembering the jewelry his own mother wore daily as well. “It’s sentimental, then.” He sighed a tiny bit, stretching.
He nodded. "Yeah." he replied softly, tucking it back under his shirt and biting his lip.
“Yeah.” Wilhelm echoed. His fingers drummed on his knuckle, which was somewhat raw and red by now. His eyes flicked around the room, seemingly unable to find a resting point.
Connor noticed. "Wilhelm, you have got to stop hurtin' yet hands. Yer gonna get an infection." He said. "And infections suck ass."
Wilhelm held up his palms in defense, conveniently hiding his knuckles from Connor’s sight. “I get it, I get it. This time it isn’t my fault, though, they got scraped on the brick walls. l promise you, that’s the honest truth.” Wilhelm’s folded his hands in his lap, his voice going soft. “Don’t worry about me, Connor. I promise, I can take care of myself.”
Connor narrowed his eyes at Wilhelm, and sighed. "An' if ah dinnae believe yeh?" he challenged, arching an eyebrow at the German boy. A faint smile hovered around his lips.
Wilhelm matched Connor’s wisp of a smile. “Have I given you a reason not to?” He countered, raising his eyebrows. “I don’t believe I have. I can’t seem to remember any off of the top of my head, and something says that you can’t either.”
Connor rolled his eyes. "No, ah dinnae remember anythin' specific." he replied, looking at Wilhelm with that faint little smile still.
“I wonder why..” Wilhelm held back a smile, actually resorting to cover his mouth with a hand when he couldn’t keep a straight face any longer.
Connor let out a laugh, shaking his head a little bit. "Oh, shut up." he said goodnaturedly.
“Well, I’m just stating facts!” Wilhelm exclaimed, his tone a perfect picture of faux-offense. He placed a hand over his chest dramatically, shaking his head. “Honestly, Connor, what am I ever going to do with you?”
Connor smiled, laughing. Well, you could kiss me. He blinked at that sudden thought, and pushed it away. "Uhm. Ah dinnae know."
“Mm, me neither.” I could kiss you, for starters. Wilhelm’s face went more than just a little pink at that thought, his head suddenly turning away from Connor in a poor attempt to hide his face.
Connor bit his lip, watching Wilhelm. "Somethin' wrong?" he asked.
Wilhelm rubbed his face with a hand, shaking his head. “No, no, sorry. Just.. thought about something.”
He nodded a little bit. "Ah. Alright." he replied, glancing down at his closed sketchbook. He touched his ribs cautiously, still glad that there was no longer pain every time.
Wilhelm pressed his thumb against his lip, trying to clear his mind. He glanced at Connor’s sketchbook momentarily as well, still turning over the thought that Connor wanted to draw him in his mind.
Connor dropped his hands down to his lap, tipping his head from one side to the other and cracking his neck.
Wilhelm jolted a bit at the sudden noise. He gnawed on his knuckle absentmindedly, only stopping once he had realized what he was doing.
Connor spotted the knuckle chewing, and narrowed his eyes. "Wil." he said. "Stop chewing."
Wilhelm pressed his lips into a thin line, folding his hands once more. “Yeah, yeah. Sorry. Didn’t realize it.”
