She nodded, smiling at kalon. "Yes it is starting to get dark, let's head back. You can return in the morning." She moved to start walking with him until she saw the bullet. When he started running with her, she grabbed him and pulled him close. Sue sprouted wings from her back, and took off into the air and fly fast towards where they were they would be safe.
Kalon watched behind the two of them to make sure they wouldn't be followed, but it seemed that their pursuers were unable to fly. He used his own wings to assist Phoebe so she wouldn't have to expend as much energy. They swore softly, keeping a tight hold on their bags with one hand as he used to other to hold onto Phoebe.
She made sure to keep both arms secure around kalon, she wasn't letting go any time soon. She held him close to her, flying as fast she could, which was indeed pretty speedy. She saw some with a cross bow up ahead and turned so that kalon wouldn't get anything. She covered kalon with her wings and a cross bow bolt went through one of them. She landed on top of the cross bow guy, knocking him out with a kick to the face. She quickly pushed off and into the air, forcing herself to fly the rest of the way, until it was safe to Land.
Kalon, unfortunately, didn't really have much in the way of offensive power. They were more or less helpless as Phoebe carried them through the air, and he hated it. There had to be more he could do, but trying anything might put Phoebe in more danger. They yelped when Phoebe was shot, clearly startled and worried. He was minorly grazed on one arm where the arrow went through Phoebe's wing, but he didn't notice it. "Phoebe!" They held tighter to her as the flight grew more rough, and seemed relieved once they were out of range of their pursuers. "Are you alright?" He asked nervously, now starting to feel the sting of his minor injuries.
She was breathing heavily as her wing bled down her feathers, turning the white feathers into a shade of crimson. She looked at her wing and winced at the missing piece of wing. A couple feathers fell when she landed, littering the ground around them.
She managed to smile at kalon. "I'm okay, it's nothing I can't handle. I'm just glad your not badly hurt. I'm sorry I allowed you to get hurt in the first place..i should have left earlier with you."
She moved to.inspect his wounds.
Kalon only seemed more worried when he was able to see Phoebe's wound more clearly. Their own wounds were very minor— only a nick in one ear and a scrape across his arm— but they were still bleeding a bit. His blood had a very curious appearance. It was a darker, cooler color than ordinary blood, and it seemed to sparkle whenever it hit the light. "I'm fine, Phoebe, I swear… it's you I'm worried about. We need to get you to the infirmary." He insisted.
"Only if you come with me. Your hurt too. I don't care how small you say it is. You are bleeding."
She was getting slightly light headedbas more feathers were being soaked in a bloody crimson. It's likely she left feathers at the scene of where she kicked the guy in the face and touched off again. Kalon could also see the missing places where feathers were supposed to be.
She shook her head slightly.
"Together?'
"Fine, yes, I'll go with you. Just… quickly, please." Kalon was growing more anxious as they watched Phoebe's condition decline. He took her by the hand and started to lead her inside, keeping a close eye on her in case he needed to carry her in. It was starting to get darker, as well, which meant he didn't have much time before he urgently needed to perform his duties. The goddess of the moon was surely waiting on them.
She exhaled, thankfully he was going with her and she could bandage the parts where he got hurt.
Unfortunately she was making a little bit of a blood trail as they walked through the hallway, she fought against the light headed as they walked. Forcing herself to move she wouldn't be a burden to kalon instead of a help.
However once they entered the medical area, she felt herself weakening from all the blood. She found it harder to make it over to one of the cots then it should have been.
When Kalon noticed how much Phoebe was struggling to walk, he picked her up and gently lay her on a cot. They urged the medics to attend to her, and impatiently allowed them to bandage his wounds before he hurried off to meet with the goddess of the moon. They apologized for making her wait and hastily assumed their task, but he was stressed, and his abilities were more erratic and inconsistent than usual. They couldn't stop thinking about Phoebe, and in the morning, he was more exhausted than usual, but they refused to rest. He hurried to the infirmary to check on her, looking pale and disoriented.
She felt kalon pick her up and set her down on the cot, they bandaged up her wing, giving her some anesthesia while stitching up the whole in her wings.
She quickly fell asleep and slept for a long while, that was until kalon was soon to return. She sat up with a groan as kalon entered the room, she didn't Remember what happened before she passed out.
She rubbed her eyes, "kalon..?"
"Phoebe! Are you alright?" Kalon asked worriedly when he noticed that Phoebe was awake. "I-I wish I could have stayed with you… you lost a lot of blood." They looked unsteady on their feet, and very concerned. He knew that the moon goddess must be annoyed with him for not being at his best, but they couldn't help that.
"Kalon? I should be asking you..you don't look like you have gotten any rest." She frowned softly at him, she patted the bed next to her.
"Come sit with me, let's talk okay? I assure you I'm fine now, you got me help and I'm fine. So let me worry about you."
She spoke softly.
Kalon whined softly, but complied, sitting beside Phoebe on the bed. He still didn't look convinced that Phoebe was okay, but seeing her did make them feel a little bit better. He was exhausted; although he required significantly less sleep than humans, that only made that small amount all the more crucial for them to be at their best. "I'm sorry… you got hurt because of me…" He said softly.
She watched as he made his way onto the bed, pouting slightly. She moved to pull him into a soft hug, rubbing his back gently.
"I'm okay Kalon, alright? Trust me." She spoke softly, almost at a whisper as she hugged him and set her head on his shoulder.
She hoped this would help assure him.
"This isn't your fault, I would do anything for you."
Kalon hugged Phoebe tightly in return, resting his head against hers with his eyes closed. Despite her assurances, they couldn't help but feel guilty. After all, if he had been more careful, Phoebe wouldn't be hurt. He knew he had to be more wary since, although he was pretty resilient, Phoebe was a mortal. They hated to see anything happen to her. "I-I know, I just… I shouldn't be so careless…"
She hummed softly, holding him close and stroking his head gently. Like that of a caring mother would do with her child.
"It's okay..Kalon all that matters to me is that you are alright. I'm completely fine."
She spoke softly.
"I'm… I'm okay…" Kalon replied weakly. He relaxed into Phoebe's touch, his grip on her slowly loosening. They were quiet for a while as they kept close to Phoebe, and eventually it was evident that he had fallen asleep. He was likely to be out of commission for a while, as was typical for him.
She just rested with him in her grip, continuing the soft melody. She laid him down softly, letting his head rest in her lap as she stroked his hair gently. She knew he needed rest, so she was glad he finally was getting it.
Kalon was deeply asleep for an hour or two, and then suddenly began to stir. They shifted where they lay for a minute before he sat up sharply and looked around, blinking with confusion. "Oh, Phoebe… you're alright. Why am I in the hospital wing?" He asked.
She yawned herself, but didn't allow herself to sleep until she was sure that kalon wouldn't fall wake up again, and he did. She smiled at him,
"You came here Kalon, you fell asleep.'
"Oh… right. My apologies." Kalon sighed and stretched, rubbing at his eyes. They seemed to recover from the grasps of sleep remarkably quickly, and he definitely appeared to be more well-rested now. "You should get some rest too."
"There's no need to apologize, I figured you needed rest and I'm glad you were able to get some.' She smiled again him, seeing be appeared more rested.
"Hm, oh me? I'm fine kalon. I'm not tired much anyway.'
She spoke softly, before letting out a yawn.
Kalon narrowed his eyes at Phoebe, clearly not convinced. "Phoebe… I don't believe that. You really should get some rest so you can heal up more quickly. I'll stay with you, alright? I don't need to do anything until tonight."
