Jackson smiled at Phillips and quickly hugged him. "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" Jackson must've thought that Phillips would figure out that he would have something to do with the man going overboard. He smirked and looked at Phillips. "You're absolutely right, Master."
Phillips hugged Jackson back, mask shifting a bit as they did to reveal his grin.
"I thought as much," he said with a soft chuckle. Amelia looked scared. Would he punish Jackson? Phillips patted Jackson's shoulder.
"Best we not tell anyone about that part."
“That’ll be a piece of cake! As long as no one here is the world bests detective, I’ll be fine.” Jackson said, while smiling.
Phillips chuckled, ruffling Jackson's hair lightly. When he saw how scared Amelia looked, so he motioned for her to come over. She stepped forward hesitantly, and Phillips gave her a hug.
"We'll be fine," he said with a smile.
"How sweet. Look at us, we're bonding." Jackson said while pertending to wipe a tear away.
Phillips laughed lightly. Amelia had relaxed now, staying close to her new owner.
"That's one way to put it." He smiled, giggling.
"You done with your job? We should probably go tell my sister of the man's passing."
"I'm half done, I'll get back to it. Now, if you excuse me, I have a date with some cleaning supplies."
"M, okay then," Phillips said. He slid his mask back on, calling over one of the others to take his place at the helm before he led Amelia down after Jackson before turning to go find his sister.
Jackson immediately grabbed the cleaning supplies when he arrived at his destination and started to finish his job. He couldn’t leave the deck half cleaned, it would just look. . disgusting. He looked over the edge and narrowed his eyes at the water.
There was nothing much about the water. Occasionally something could be seen moving, but it was too far below the surface to make out. Phillips spoke quietly to his sister of the man's passing, Amelia speaking when addressed. Captain looked suspicious, but agreed to letting Phillips watch over the other. They both walked back, heading over to Jackson.
"Want some help?" Amelia asked.
(I love your new profile picture. It’s so cute!)
Jackson turned his to where the voice was and smiled when he saw Amelia. “Fancy seeing you here.” He chuckled and continued. “That would be lovely, I actually don’t know if I’ll be able to finish this before night comes.”
(Thank you!)
Amelia smiled, grabbing a scrubber and getting to work.
"Well, with me helping we should be able to get it done before dinner!" Amelia grinned, but it faltered a bit.
"Will there be enough food for all three of us?" She wondered out loud. She was used to not much if anything to eat for days.
“Yes, I’m sure with the both of us we can get this done before dinner!”
Jackson stopped working for a bit and then continued. He sighed and for a couple of moments he said absolutely nothing. “I’m sure there will be enough food for the three of us.”
"Okay, " Amelia said, not looking at Jackson.
"How much does Master eat?" She asked. She didn't want to take a lot of food from Jackson.
Jackson sighed and contemplated on telling her that their master didn’t eat the food. He sighed again and thought that it would be better to tell her half the truth. “. . Nothing. He eats something else than what they give us, and I don’t eat much, so, there will be plenty of food for you.”
"Oh." Amelia smiled a little at the thought of having enough to eat.
"I… Thank you." She smiled brightly as they finished up.
Jackson wiped sweat away from his forehead and smiled at Amelia. “There’s no need to thank me.” He sighed, picked up the supplies and quickly put them away and then walked back to Amelia. “So, what did Captain said? Was she suspicious? Who am I kidding, she probably was suspicious.”
"Oh, very." Amelia giggled.
"But no one really liked my old Master, so she didn't say anything." Amelia had just finished speaking when the dinner bell rang, and Phillips walked over.
"You did good," he noted, glancing at the deck before looking back up.
Jackson chuckled. “Yeah, it sure seems that no one really liked him. He deserved what I did to him. It was just Karma coming to get him.” Jackson looked up and frowned. “You both. Not you, dear master.”
"Ah, I see." Phillips smiled, putting his hand on Jackson's back and Amelia's arm. He led them down to the lower deck to eat.
"Well, it looks really nice," Phillips said again. "Both of you."
“Well, thank you Master. It’s better something looks well done, than well, not well done. It just doesn’t look good and it doesn’t impress people, and when things are done well, they’ll now that person who did it, tried their absolute best.”
Phillips nodded, understanding.
"Wich you obviously did, " he said with soft eyes. They reached the table, Phillips sitting down. He made sure there was room for both Jackson and Amelia, Amelia sitting down happily out of the way.
Jackson happily tapped his fingers on the table as he waited for the food. He decided to make some conversation with Amelia. “So, Amelia . . . do you have places you dream to visit?”
"Mm… Well, I've never actually been farther inland then the port City I was bred in, so I kinda just want to see more of the world." She smiled, not bothered by the fact she just referred to herself like an animal. Phillips said nothing, but he was listening in. Maybe it would be a nice to surprise the two w with a trip inland some day soon. H he knew the boat would be staying at the next docks they were coming to for a while.
