"Heya!~" Chesh said from the ceiling, right above Jemi. She didn't want to bother Jemi once she fell asleep so she just decided she was going to lay up there. She had already done the night shift and just couldn't go to sleep.
"Heya!~" Chesh said from the ceiling, right above Jemi. She didn't want to bother Jemi once she fell asleep so she just decided she was going to lay up there. She had already done the night shift and just couldn't go to sleep.
Jemi groaned softly, "Wha…? Chesh?" she asked softly. She could make out the figure above her and saw Chesh. She looked at her. "Am I in the sleeping quarters?" she said. "Wait. Am I in your hammock?"
"Yeah. I was guessing that you didn't want to sleep in the cell and it easier to keep an eye on you like this. Plus, you needed to sleep off some of the alcohol." She explained. "How much do you remember?" She asked.
Jemi looked at her confused. "Whoa, whoa, whoa- how much alcohol did I have? I don't remember much at all." The last thing she remembered was talking with Chesh. But she couldn't remember what it was they had been talking about. She looked around and at herself. She was filthy. Her hands found her way trying to fiddle with her necklace, before realizing it wasn't there. "I- Wha-? Where is my necklace??"
Chesh thought about it. "I think you had 2 or 3 bottles of rum. And I have no idea where your necklace is. What's it look like?"
Jemi looked at Chesh blankly. "My- my necklace. It has a blue gem in the middle and I-" Jemi took a deep breath to clear her head. Her head still felt fuzzy. She needed that necklace back.
"Calm down! You probably left it in the cell or something. When did you last have it?" Chesh asked.
(Is it ok that Chesh took it or did you have somewhere to go with this?)
(Yes that works. I was thinking one of the pirates since, well, they're pirates and the necklace looks somewhat valuable lol)
"I- I don't know. I can't remember!" Jemi cried. Her memory of everything was too fuzzy for her to be sure of anything, "Someone must've taken it. You are pirates after all." she said, her voice only getting louder, A part of her told her to calm down, but the necklace was important. The most important thing she owned.
"Calm down! It's probably in your cell. It is not a good idea to wake the crew in the middle of the night unless you want to be thrown overboard." She said as she floated down to the ground. She fiddled with Jemi's necklace inside her pant pocket. "Why is it so important anyway?" She asked.
"It just is! I need to find it. I need to find it." Jemi repeated again and again. The necklace was her safe thing. Her grandmother had given it to her so so long ago, when she first showed signs of water abilities. Now that she was gone, the necklace was the last thing of hers. And it belonged to Jemi.
"Alright! Alright! I'll go look in the cell. Calm down." Chesh said as she walked out of the room. She walked down to the cells and into the cell Jemi had been in. "I wonder where it could be." She said taking the necklace out of her pocket and studying it.
(Bump?)
(Ack I'm sorry!)
"Fine!" Jemi hopped down and made her way loudly to the cell. She ambled down the stairs and looked around in the empty cell. There wasn't really anywhere it could be. "Help me find it!" she ordered Chesh.
Chesh let it dangle in front of her. "This one~?" She said with a smirk, letting it swing side to side. "I feel like I've seen this before. Where did you get it?" She asked, looking it over.
Jemi looked wide eyed at her necklace. "Yes. That one. Where did you find it?" she said fiercely. You're on a pirate ship. Chesh is a pirate. She reminded herself. Why had she let herself be vulnerable? Jemi wondered. She grabbed for the necklace. "And it's none of your business where I got it."
Chesh chuckled. "I grabbed it." She said as she pulled the necklace out of Jemi's grasp. She jumped onto the ceiling where Jemi couldn't reach her. "Also you are adorable when you are mad."
(Is the necklace an amulet or is it a symbol that means something?)
(it's an amulet but Jemi doesn't actually know that. Her grandmother just told her to keep it safe and that was like the dramatic final wish so Jemi has to keep it safe)
Jemi took a breath to reset her mind. She couldn't make another mistake and her head still really hurt. "Give. It. Back." she crossed her arms. Chesh had floated up and there wasn't a way for Jemi to get to her. She glared at Chesh trying to devise a plan to get the necklace back. Unfortunately her head hurt so much, she could hardly think of anything at all.
Chesh studied over the necklace. "Looks important. Better take care of it." She said dropping it so Jemi could catch it. "And you might not want to keep it where other's can see and, therefore, take it." Chesh said, laying down on the ceiling.
Jemi snatched it and put it back on. She cursed at herself for being so careless and glared at Chesh. "When did you take it?" she asked. When I was asleep?
"I took it after you passed out." Chesh said. "If I didn't take it, someone else was." She said with a smirk as she floated down from the ceiling.
"You're lucky you're cute." Jemi glared at Chesh before stalking back to the cot where she had slept. She couldn't let her guard down again. She couldn't be so reckless. She couldn't.
Chesh chuckled as she followed her back to the cot. "Lucky?" She asked, wrapping her arm around Jemi's waist. "It's not luck, darling~."
Jemi looked at Chesh into her purple eyes. There was something irresistible about her. It wasn't fair. She couldn't let herself be vulnerable again. Not after what happened last time. "No. I can't- no."
"You can't what?" Chesh asked as she rested her head on Jemi's shoulder.
Jemi got up, removing Chesh's head from her shoulder. "This. You. Are. Dangerous. I seem to have forgotten that. I can't afford to make a mistake like you."
