She saw the hand, and hesitated for a few seconds. But just when he thought she wouldn’t take his hand, she did. She took it and squeezed it. Then she smiled to herself, but Theo didn’t know that part.

They sat like that for the rest of the movie, even into the credits. Neither of them wanted to let go. But, once the lights in the theater came on, she lifted her head up, and left her hand in his.

“The movie was pretty good,” she said and yawned a tiny yawn.

(Heads up, I'm going to be gone up until Sunday!! I have to go on a school trip, but I'll see you in a week <3)
"Ah okay, I get it, you're a fake fan," he said with faked disappointment. They were out in the street now, walking side by side… their hands brushing with every step. If he went to take her hand, it would be a public announcement. People would turn and look: Oh look, they're dating.

She scoffed. "Whatever, he's not that great anyway." She squinted and leaned her head back to get a better look at the clouds. "I think it might rain, we'd better hurry up," she said, and held her hand out to see if she could catch some raindrops. She happened to hold the hand out that was closer to him, so it was no longer close to his hand.

They made their way down the street to the little restaurant that they had agreed upon, and made it just before the rain started coming down. Soft, steady pounding on the extended roof in front of the building gave her an idea.

"It's been a long time since I've gotten to be outside in the rain," she turned to him, her eyes shining and her lips slightly clenched. She was trying so hard to hide her excitement; this was just like something out of a movie. "You want to eat out here? There are tables over there under the roof, so we won't get wet."

Theo had been staring out at the rainfall, studying the miniature reflections in each individual drop racing others down the glass pane.
He jumped at the sound of Piper's voice and turned to face her. It took a minute for him to register what she'd said, but the minute he had he was up on his feet.
Her eyes were shining with excitement, rich in colour and joy. It truly was a beautiful site… With an unconscious shake of his head, he nodded towards the doors before going over to tell the waiters their change of seating.

She very excitedly moved her bag over to the chairs at a table by the wall, thrilled by the prospect of sitting outside for so long. It really had been a while since she got to enjoy something like this.

“So, how’d you like the movie?” She asked Theo when he returned. “I usually don’t watch stuff like that, so it was pretty interesting to me.”

(Agh sorry! School :’( )
“Was pretty good!” Theo admitted, taking his seat. “The music was great, obviously, but I liked the acting too.”
With a sigh he tilted his head back to the crying sky, inhaling the smell of damp earth. “This would be a mix of brown and blue, maybe silver,” he murmured half to himself.

@Periwinkle_

She smiled at the last comment, watching with rapture at his eyes scanned the sky. Those were really nice eyes.

She caughed herself staring at him and cleared her throat, then looked up at the sky with him. “The funny thing is that there’s no contrast, which is usually why we’re drawn to the sky. It’s just dark and grey and gloomy and I love it. Raindrops dancing on down to the earth, their tails wagging behind them.”

A slow, eager smile lifted Theo's lips, lighting up his entire face. "Their tails wagging behind them… There's almost more power in a solid colour that creates something like rain. A colour most everyone casts off as grim and boring brings us this, the rainfall, one of the best sensations nature could've given us…" His voice was soft and dreamy, his eyes almost glazed over– he was so obviously lost in a creative world of his making.

Although her world was slightly different from his, she primarily being a writer, she understood. She understood what moments like this one did to the soul, she understood every word he said.
"It doesn't get much better than this," she said equally as lost in the moment. She nodded her head quite slowly to indicate that she agreed. Then she looked at him, praying he would look back at her, and the moment would be that much better.
