Scipio was quiet for a moment. "…He made me feel weak again."
Scipio was quiet for a moment. "…He made me feel weak again."
"You're…you're not, though," Bridge told him, flicking his eyes up to his face.
"But he made me feel like I was…" Scipio brought his knees up to his chest again. "He tased me and I didn't do anything to stop him."
"If you did…did, he would have hurt you more," He said, making sure one arm was still carefully wrapped around his body.
"Maybe, but at least I would've put up a fight. I didn't do a damn thing. I… I got scared. Stupid fear…"
"You…you didn't get hurt as much as you could've. That's good," Bridge told him.
"What even is good? Typically everything I do is considered 'bad' by society." Scipio sighed, staring at the floor.
"Good is when…" Bridge blinked, considering. "It's when things feel…anything…positive. Happy, or glad, or proud, or safe."
"I'm never truly safe… Dave's out to get me, and that's not happy or positive or glad or proud or, most of all, not safe."
"Dave's…Dave's not good. He shouldn't be any of those things," Bridge said quietly, glancing up to look at Scipio again.
"But Dave becomes good for doing those things because I'm 'bad'. Society likes Dave. It doesn't like me." Scipio tapped his fingers on top of his knees.
"Yeah, but…we're not in society. We're here," He pointed out.
Scipio shrugged. "Doesn't matter. What matters is society says Dave is right and I'm wrong because I'm the one behind the bars."
"You're…you're doing a good job of fighting him, though," Bridge said, letting his eyes slip closed. He was tired, although it couldn't be that late in the day.
"Yeah, but that's not 'good'. Fighting against authorities, however insufferable they may be, is frowned upon. I'm not a good person. I don't do good things."
"It…it doesn't have to be good for everyone. It's good…good for you," He mumbled tiredly.
Scipio rolled his eyes. "I'm a psychopath and a murderer. Nothing you say can make me a good person."
"I think you are…a little bit," Bridge muttered softly. "You…you fought them for me."
"That doesn't necessarily mean I'm a good person. It means I'm aggressive and possessive."
"It was good for me." Bridge leaned further onto Scipio, sure he would fall asleep soon.
Scipio sighed. "I don't know why you're so determined to try and prove that I'm not an awful human being, but it's not going to work."
"You're…you're not awful to me," Bridge murmured before starting to slip off into sleep.
"Yeah, but I'm still awful as a person." Scipio noticed that Bridge had fallen asleep and stood up, tucking Bridge under his arm and heading over to the metal bench.
Bridge's body leaned on him, and he sighed a bit in his sleep.
Scipio lay down on the bench as well and held Bridge closely. I won't let Dave take him while I'm sleeping…
