"I-I guys so, I just… isn't it going to be a lot of work?" He asked weakly. "I shouldn't force my problems on you."
"I-I guys so, I just… isn't it going to be a lot of work?" He asked weakly. "I shouldn't force my problems on you."
“I’m agreeing to teach you because I want to, not because you’re making me,” Nick said firmly. “End of story.”
Cas winced a bit at his tone and nodded. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry… I'll shut up."
Nick frowned. “Dude, you don’t have to apologize,” he said softly, feeling bad. “But don’t tell me that it’s gonna suck either. Deal?”
Cas nodded a bit and fell silent, just holding onto his things and keeping his face half hidden in them. He still seemed nervous, but he stopped arguing.
They reached Nick’s house not too long after that, and Nick opened the door for Cas. “Welcome to my humble abode,” he joked. His house was pretty average, and it smelled like clean laundry.
Cas looked around curiously. "It's nice." He said softly, moving to the side so he wasn't in Nick's way. "Sure beats the streets."
“Thanks,” Nick replied, his face softening. “Make yourself at home.”
"Thanks…" Cas set his books down on the table so he wouldn't have to keep carrying them.
Nick opened the freezer and grinned, remembering the ice cream in there. “Want some ice cream?” he asked Cas, pulling out the container.
"Uh…" Cas seemed rather confused. "I take it that ice cream is something that I should've had before now?"
Nick blinked, just staring at Cas for slightly longer than was polite. "You're kidding," he exclaimed. "You've never had ice cream before? You have got to try some!"
Cas flushed a bit, fidgeting with his hands. "Alright… is it good?" He asked, heading over to Nick. "I've heard good things about it but I've never had it myself…"
"Yes it's good!" Nick replied, scooping some into a bowl for Cas and handing it and a spoon to him.
Cas got himself a big bite of ice cream and shoved it in his mouth. "Mm… it's nice. Really cold, though, but I assume that's kind of the point." Within a few seconds, he was grimacing and gritting his teeth. "Shit… why does it hurt to eat? Am I allergic??"
Nick laughed. “No, I don’t think so. It’s just cold. Maybe you’re sensitive.” He got himself some and then put the container back in the freezer.
"Wait, no, it's going away now…" Cas slowly relaxed as his brainfreeze faded. "This stuff is really weird…"
Nick laughed. “I suppose so,” he replied, eating some himself. “Did you give yourself a brain freeze?”
"Brain freeze?" Cas asked, confused. He shoved another large bite of ice cream into his mouth and winced again soon after.
“Yeah, when you eat it too fast it hurts your head,” Nick said with a laugh.
"Mmmm… that's no fun." Cas whined, getting himself a smaller bite and tentatively sticking it into his mouth so he wouldn't get another brain freeze.
Nick laughed. “It’s part of the experience!”
"But it huuurts!" He whined, taking another bite. "How could that be fun?"
"Don't eat it so fast, then," Nick responded with a grin.
"But you said it's part of the experience!" Cas swallowed and scooped up another spoonful of ice cream.
