It was silence again until they heard scrapings from inside the house. The scrapes grew louder and Alex appeared, handling a firetable.
It was silence again until they heard scrapings from inside the house. The scrapes grew louder and Alex appeared, handling a firetable.
"Need any help?" Autumn offered, standing up from her seat.
Alex grunted. “Nah. J can help, right?”
J grinned, rolling his eyes and rose to help Alex. Soon the table was positioned in the middle of the circle.
"So… How long have you all known each other?" Autumn asked as she sat back down.
Alex stretched out his back before sitting. “We’ve known each other since we were in second grade.”
J trotted off to go plug in the table.
"Wow. That's a long time," Autumn said, surprised.
Alex nodded slowly. “Yeeeessssiiiiiirrrrriee. It sure is.”
"I'm sure there are a lot of good stories, then," Autumn prompted with a smile.
Alex laughed, his face glimmering in the now burning fire of the table. “Ah, yes, there are a lot. But we vowed on our lives we weren’t going to share them.”
"What? That's totally not cool," Autumn laughed.
Kayla chuckled lightly, her gaze drifting to J once again.
Alex laughed. “We only tell them on double dates.”
“That was my idea,” B snapped suddenly at Alex.
“No it wasn’t!” He snapped back just as fierce.
"Double dates, huh?" Autumn said, looking thoughtful. If that was she case, she might never hear the stories. After all, Alex didn't seem to like her that way…
Alex huffed. “Anyway, I never get to tell them. I have so many good ones that these guys don’t even remember.”
Suddenly, for no reason at all, J looked worried.
Kayla saw J's expression change and tilted her head to the side, curious.
"You never get to tell them?" Autumn asked.
(I think I got a cold…)
(Awww I’m sorry! Take a cold bath! It’ll help clear up your nose.)
Alex shook his head. “No one’s ever asked me out on a date.”
J glanced over at Kayla, noticed her staring and smiled a little.
(I don't like/have time for baths…)
Kayla blushed and looked down again.
"And you've never asked anyone out yourself?" Autumn questioned.
(Oof. Sorry then. Idunno what to tell you. Maybe ginger and honey will work?)
J smiled and glanced away.
Alex frowned. “I’ve thought about it, but the woman I wanted to ask is out of my league by far.”
(Idk… I have to work tomorrow…)
"I doubt that," Autumn laughed. "I don't think anyone could be out of your league. Unless they're royalty… Is she a princess, by chance?"
Kayla glanced at her sister and gave her a look. It was totally obvious to her who Alex was talking about, but she wouldn't say anything… Yet…
(I’m sorry! Get well soon.)
Alex shook his head, slighty exasperated by her blindsightedness. “No. Just forget it.” He grinned a little. “I’ll just die a lonely old man.”
(Thanks. Lol. Did some essential oils, so hoping that helps…)
"I'm sure that's not true," Autumn chuckled. "I bet there are plenty of women who'd date you." Including myself, if you asked…
(Aaah)
Alex shook his head. “I only want one, but she’d probably say no.” He shrugged a little.
(Peppermint oil is cold…)
"Hm. Well, if she said no, then she'd be missing out," Autumn said softly, blushing a bit at her words.
(It sounds like it, too)
Alex blushed a little and glanced away, sitting back in his chair. “You really think so?”
(It feels weird sometimes… Like, it's so cold it's hot…)
"Yeah, of course. How could I think otherwise?" Autumn asked, looking down at her hands in her lap.
(That’s so odd…)
Alex looked at J, who gave him a ‘Just ask her you wimp’ look.
“What makes you think it isn’t you?”
