Alex beamed brightly. “It does! And expensive. But fun!”
Alex beamed brightly. “It does! And expensive. But fun!”
Autumn chuckled a bit. “Well, we could spread it out over a few dates. Maybe do one a week?”
Alex nodded. “That would be awesome. And fun! Very fun. Did I say that already?”
“Yeah, you did,” Autumn said with a light laugh. “But that’s okay. I think it’ll be fun, too.”
Alex laughed sheepishly, waving his hands. “Sorry. I’m excited about our future dinner dates.”
“Well, so am I! One date a week sounds amazing,” Autumn mused, grinning at him excitedly.
Alex grinned back brightly, looking around. “It does! Where is our cake?”
“I’m sure it’s coming soon, babe,” Autumn chuckled, smiling.
Alex grinned back at her brightly. “Of course. We did order a big piece. So…”
“So… It’s taking them a while to get it,” Autumn declared with a teasing grin.
Alex chuckled and nodded. “Yeah. That’s how we know it’s gonna be good. Right?”
"Definitely," Autumn chuckled. She glanced up and saw the waiter coming back with their dessert and smiled. "And here it comes now."
“Really?” Alex asked child-like, turning in his booth. “Ah!” He smiled at the waiter as they set down the cake and two forks. And the bill, which Alex took.
Autumn hummed and took a bite of the cheesecake before Alex could. "Mmhm… Very good," she murmured with a mouthful of food, though she covered her mouth.
Alex flicked open the menu and stuck his card inside, hiding it from her and setting it away at his end of the table. He didn’t want her seeing how bloody expensive it was and insist on paying a portion. He plucked up his fork promptly and went to the cake, taking a bite.
“Mmmm… it is good.”
(Do you want to skip to after they've finished eating?)
(Sure!)
Autumn sighed when she went to take another bite of the dessert and found the plate to be empty. "Darn… Maybe we should have ordered two," she half-joked with a chuckle.
Alex had leaned back for her to finish the cake after his fifth bite. He burped softly, patting his tummy.
“Maybe for the go, babe.”
"Hm, yeah… Then Jilly could have tried it," Autumn mused with a small smile. "Are we ready to go, then?"
Alex smiled faintly and nodded. “Yep. Ready when you are.”
Autumn gathered her things and stood, grinning at him. "Well, let's go home, then."
Alex shouldered his jacket back on, grabbed his wallet and left a twenty for the waiter. He stood, feeling around for the box.
“Yep! Let’s go.”
Autumn reached over for his hand as they walked out. "Am I driving or did you want to?"
Alex took her hand and hummed softly. “I will. But I wanted to go check out the fountains they have a couple minute’s walk away. I heard they’re really pretty.”
