“I have no idea,” Autumn said with a light laugh. “A certain someone refuses to tell me.”
“I have no idea,” Autumn said with a light laugh. “A certain someone refuses to tell me.”
Alex laughed with her and hailed a waiter, calling for their wine and steak bites. The waiter hurried off again.
Autumn studied him from across the table. What was he up to? She was incredibly curious, now.
Alex grinned happily at her. “So! Drinks. They’re coming soon.”
“Yes, they are,” Autumn said, an amused tone in her voice. “And I’m still incredibly curious about this whole date.”
Alex tapped his hands on the table, humming. “I just wanted to take you out!”
“I see…” Autumn hummed, giving him a slightly amused and disbelieving look.
Alex beamed and laughed softly. “What’s that look for, baby?”
Autumn shook her head, smiling. “I know you’re up to something. I have no idea what it is, but I know it’s there.”
“I’m not up to anything, my love,” Alex said innocently, his eyes widening cutely.
“Sure you aren’t, babe,” Autumn said with a light laugh, grinning at him. “But I guess I’ll stop trying to get information out of you because I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.”
Alex giggled softly into his hands, waving them. “Oh, don’t be such a fret. Let’s just have a good time.l
What are you hiding, my rockstar?
“Of course, Alex. That’s what we’re doing, are we not?” Autumn said with a teasing gleam in her eyes.
Alex laughed softly again as the waiter approached again with their drinks and steak bites. Alex thanked them and went straight for the tiny bit of steak dressed in spices and shredded, melted cheese.
(I just noticed that I’ve been on Notebook for 11 months… Wow…)
“Oh, those look good,” Autumn hummed as she picked one up and took a small bite. “Mm… Mmhm. It is…”
(That’s cool!)
Alex nodded enthusiastically and popped the cork off of the wine bottle. “Let’s try it with some wine.”
Autumn smiled across at him and held the glasses to be filled. “Do I get to know where we’re going after this?”
Alex gave them both a hearty dollop of wine, then set down the bottle. “I’m not sure. Where do you think we should go?”
“Hm… I honestly don’t care. I thought you might have a plan for that, though, which is why I asked,” Autumn admitted with a shrug. She handed Alex his glass and lifted her own to her lips, taking a small sip of the dark red liquid.
Alex sipped delicately at his wine, shrugging. “I don’t really have much of an idea. We can go back home, if you’d like, when we’re done.”
Autumn nodded slowly, taking another piece of the steak bites. “That sounds good. When was Jilly getting back? Were they keeping her overnight?”
Alex took a bite as well, nodding. “Yeah. Jilly seemed excited about going over for so long.” He laughed softly.
“Well, she is getting to hang out with my sister and J. And Kayla really likes hanging out with her, so it’s really no surprise,” Autumn chuckled softly, taking another sip of her wine.
Alex nodded. “I’m glad she’s finally relaxed. She seems to be much happier around us.” He beamed. “I never could’ve thought we’d be such good parents.”
Autumn softly smiled at him and reached for his hand. “I know… And we’re not even starting at the beginning, either. I’m sure we’ll do great, though. With both raising Jillian and our own when the time comes.”
