"Well… I suppose it could either be mine or Alex's," Autumn mused. "Would you want it to be?"
It would be a hassle to change, though, if she took mine and then I got married… But it would be worth it if that was what she wanted to do.
Jilly looked at Alex tensely. “You don’t have the same last name?” She asked softly, tilting her head.
Alex shook his head. “No, we don’t.”
Autumn blushed slightly. "Nope…" Not yet… I'm hoping we will, though…
Jilly looked down at her hands. She wanted to keep her name, suddenly. It made her feel happy. But she wanted to share a name with her new parents too…
Alex smiled a bit and rose a hand. “How about we just wait to choose?”
"That's a good idea," Autumn said, smiling over at Alex. "We don't have to decide right now. We can wait as long as we need to."
Alex smiled back and patted her cheek gently. “Thanks babe. We all just need some time together.”
Autumn nodded and looked back at Jillian, leaning into Alex slightly. "So, is there anything you might want for your room? We could go look for stuff if you want."
Alex gently wrapped an arm around her as Jilly thought. “I’d like another bed. But mummy said those were expensive.”
"Another bed is fine, don't worry," Autumn assured her with a gentle grin. "I think that would be a good idea, actually. We could even get you a new bed frame, too. Make the room truly your own."
Alex nodded happily, beaming. “A new bed sounds wonderful! And maybe we could just sweep the room with stuff you like. A rug, a desk, a nice little chair you can read on…?”
"Ooh, we need to go shopping again! We could go to Ikea! Have you ever been to Ikea?" Autumn asked Jillian with a smile.
Alex wrinkled his nose immediately. “Mmmm… I’m not sure about Ikea.”
Jilly’s attention went to Alex. “Why not, Alex?”
Autumn glanced over at him, looking slightly confused. "Yes, why not, Alex?" she asked, echoing Jilly.
Alex frowned. “I’ve had bad experiences with Ikea.”
Jilly giggled softly. “Did you get lost?”
Autumn grinned a bit and glanced at Jillian. "I second that question."
Jilly giggled again, leaning forward a bit.
Alex huffed at the pair, shaking himself out. “I happened to get lost, yes.”
"Aw, babe. We'll make sure you don't get lost. Promise," Autumn giggled.
Alex glared at her. “Hush. It was a rough time. I wasn’t found until closing. And I was fairly young.”
Autumn smiled at him and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Are you sure we can't go to Ikea?"
Alex wrinkled his nose. “No! Let’s go to Wolf Furniture.”
"Aw, babe…" Autumn pouted playfully. "But Ikea is so fun! We can play hide and seek!"
Alex huffed at her as Jilly expressed her agreement.
“Let’s just go to Wolf!”
Autumn sighed and turned to Jillian, rolling her eyes jokingly before she looked back over at Alex. "Fine, fine. We can go to Wolf."
Jilly giggled softly into her hands, looking up at Alex owlishly. “You’re funny, Mr. Alex!”
"Oh, he's very funny sometimes," Autumn chuckled, nudging him playfully.
