It had been some time since the King’s oldest daughter had been seen in public. Rumors around the kingdom were that she was ill. Only the royal family and a few trusted servants knew the truth. She had been taken and for the longest time, no one knew who was responsible or where she had been taken to. Finally, the King received news of his daughter's whereabouts but was unable to send even a single knight to bring her home without it being seen as an attack.
There was another option, however… Sirius Nightfang. The man was something of a rouge but had an impressive reputation. So the King sent out a messenger with the proposal and a modest incentive payment to encourage his decision.

Sirus had recieved the message, of course. And the money. In truth he would've taken the job anyway, needing an excuse to move around again. But the money didn't hurt.
And so now he was out in the middle of nowhere, tracking the edges of tribal territory in wolf form. He had what looked like a backpack strapped around his shoulders with his supplies, and was currently scenting a trail, trying to find the end of it.
(I apologize for having this take so long…)

(It's fine. I understand being busy.)

The area was fairly peaceful and very much unlike the bustling crowded streets of Olarien. The paint covered face smiled a little at the difference before the two warriors walked out together for a brief hunt. It was more a rite of passage for the younger one while the mentor only supervised. A lot of training had gone into this moment and the excitement was palatable.
After traveling together for a while, the mentor fell behind to give his student control of the situation.

Sirus always seemed to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of nature, even if he was working on a job. The scents of trees and grass and various woodland critters were calming, as was the feeling of the forest floor under his paws.
Soon he picked up the scent of three warrior and began tracking it, maybe if he made contact with the tribe, he could get further inside it's borders.

The younger of the two was immediately aware of when the teacher became an observer and became fully alert. Listening carefully to every sound and scanning the terrain for any tracks or signs of a good hunt before heading off, quietly as possible, just outside the camp’s borders. Though they were staying in the tribes own hunting territory for the younger’s safety.
Corvin had grown fond of his charge despite already having a child… who was too young to start training. Honestly, he considered this to be as much of a test for him as it was for his student.

Sirus soon came within eyesight of the little group, moving as little as possible, the shadows subtly moving to hide him among the trees as he watched and followed them slowly.

The pair froze as Sirius came up to them. They had been hoping to find a deer or something like that… not a red-striped predator. The young brunette looked over at Corvin who shook his head before stepping defensively in front, gripping his spear tightly.

Sirus backed off warily, not expecting to be spotted so easily. Slowly he moved back into the bushes, trying to get out of range of the spear before he could attempt to shift.

Corvin smirked slightly as the wolf backed away. He didn't really want to harm the creature unless he needed to defend themselves. The idea of getting into a one on one fight with a wolf was usually a foolish idea in his opinion.
Feeling safer now that they were alone, the young hunter crouched down to check for any tracks to follow.

Sirus let out a soft huff when he saw the other's smirk, this time making triple sure he was out of sight before beginning to track them again.

Corvin relaxed his grip but stayed more alert as he proudly watched his student found some deer tracks. Though both were confused by the earlier sight. The student had never heard of a wolf that size and with that unusual pattern… Unless it had been blood. While the male was wondering why a ”Changer” was so close to their lands.

@StarryWolfy flash_onCrazy Procrastinator

Changer, halfblood, wolf shifter, whatever you wanted to call him, he was still tracking them, figuring he'd wait until after their hunt before showing himself again, hoping he could finish the mission without too much violence.

It took a while before they finally came upon the deer they were stalking, a lone buck, fortunately. Neither of them wanted to find a young fawn or a doe for the hunt. A buck, with antlers that size, would be perfect to bring back. Corvin stood several feet away as his student got within a closer range.
She stayed upwind just as she had been taught and silently notched her bow. Taking a slow deep breath to steady her shot, and pounding heart, she pulled the drawstring taunt and took careful aim.

The sudden silent whistle of the arrow cutting through the air only lasted a brief few seconds before the deer dropped with the projectile sticking out of its side. The young woman raced over to the animal and grabbed one of its antlers to keep it still for this part. Even though the arrow had struck the heart, it was still too slow. Taking a much more shaky breath, the girl held out a sharp knife. She was a little more nervous about this part. ”I’m sorry.” she whispered, before bringing the dagger quickly down.

Sirus nodded with a approving, near silent, rumble as he watched the girl make the kill. Then he slowly stepped out into the open again, this time shifting as soon as he was sure one of them had seen him.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

”You did well.” Corvin beamed proudly at the newly deemed hunter before turning to the other male. ”Did you enjoy watching the hunt?” he said calmly but still obviously on guard at the Changer’s presence.

The girl looked away from her kill, not expecting to see the stranger and let out a surprised noise before standing and gripped her knife tightly.

@StarryWolfy flash_onCrazy Procrastinator

"She's quite good." hummed Sirus quietly, "I apologize for startling you earlier, I got closer than I meant to out of curiosity." he hummed softly when he saw her with her weapon. "I wouldn't do that." he told her, "I'm not hear to harm anyone. At least not yet."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

The young woman grew flustered by the compliment while Corvin seemed even more proud. ”Thank you. She learned quickly.” he said before glancing at her and shook his head slightly. ”Clean your knife, cub. It’s alright. If he had meant to kill us he would have done so when we first spotted him.”

She nodded back, thankful that the paint kept her embarrassment at the term of endearment hidden. Through a small huff escaped her lips in affectionate annoyance before she heeded his direction.

@StarryWolfy flash_onCrazy Procrastinator

Sirus hummed softly, watching her for a moment longer. "Do you know why I'm here?" he asked the man, watching the girl curiously. noting her movements.

@StarryWolfy flash_onCrazy Procrastinator

Sirus nodded, "I'm here for a girl that was kidnapped a few moons ago. A royal." he said calmly, turning his attention away from the girl. "Her father would greatly appreciate her return."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Corvin raised a brow at that while the girl froze in place. ”And you are a bounty hunter searching for her to claim the reward?” he asked curiously, not intending to offend the other man.
A soft growl came from the young woman. She knew what this stranger was after and he wasn’t going to get it. Not if she had anything to say about it.

@StarryWolfy flash_onCrazy Procrastinator

"I was paid to go after her, but I'm doing it more because I needed an excuse to move around again. I missed the hunt. Depending on what I see here.." he shrugged leaving it open for interpretation.
