Juliet had to look away at that, but she nodded. Who is he? I'm fairly certain I don't know anyone who looks and talks like him. "Lead the way then, Casanova."
Juliet had to look away at that, but she nodded. Who is he? I'm fairly certain I don't know anyone who looks and talks like him. "Lead the way then, Casanova."
He snorted. "Nice nickname."
He lead her to the dance floor. A slow song was playing. (Yeah, I know, very cliche, I'm sorry lol) He put his hand around her waist and gripped her hand with his other hand and started to sway slowly.
Romeo couldn't believe he was doing this.
Juliet was absolutely definitely screaming in her mind, and her face was pretty red by now. She stepped a bit closer to him, closing the awkward distance. "I-I'm pretty sure this is just swaying. Think you can follow my lead?"
He shrugged. "Sure."
He was sure his face was red now too, but he was enjoying himself a lot. "So, what do you do for fun?"
She was quiet, thinking, as she started off with easier steps for him to learn and get the hang of. "Art. Writing music. Nothing too special, I guess, and I'm not too good at it. You?"
Romeo shrugged. "Well, I like running. And listening to music. And I draw, too, but I'm horrible at it." Then he grinned. "Have a guy in your life?"
"Uh-no, not really." Juliet shook her head, but didn't break eye contact. "All my romantic pursuits have ended in heartbreak, regardless of gender. Though I think that might be my fault."
Romeo looked at her closely. "Anyone you like?"
Juliet choked, her steps faltering as her face turned a bright red. "I…u-uh, yeah. Yeah, t-there is."
He smiled. "You don't have to tell me, I was just wondering."
She was quiet for a bit, long enough that it seemed she wouldn't answer, and then she spoke again. "I do like someone, but…it's unrequited, and that's all it'll ever be. Our families…"
Romeo's heart lept. Did she mean him? But then again… well, it sounded too good to be true. "Well," he said, choosing his words carefully, "I think I know who you are talking about, and if I'm right about it, he likes you too."
Juliet snorted at that, shaking her head. "There's no way in hell. 'Montague's and Capulets don't mix, they're like water and oil.'" She mockingly quoted her grandfather. She loved the man, but she wasn't even quite sure why the feud had started in the first place.
Romeo almost took off his mask right then and there. He wanted so badly for her to know… but no. He was too shy. "I know for sure that he likes you."
Juliet narrowed her eyes curiously. "How could you possibly…are you close with him?" He likes me. He doesn't despise me.
He shrugged. "He told me himself."
She tilted her head, shock evident on her face. "He did?"
Romeo smiled. "He did. And yes, I'd say that we're… close." His heart was beating fast, and he was sure that she could hear it.
"You are incredibly cryptic." Juliet stated, a small smile on her face. "Wait, do you know if he's here? I should…I don't know, talk to him, right?"
Romeo hesitated slightly. Then, taking a deep breath, he lifted his mask. "Should you go talk to him? I think he would like it," he said with a faint smile.
Juliet's eyes widened, and a flush crept up her neck. She had just admitted that she liked him. To him. "I-uh…fuck. Fuck fuck fuck."
He smirked, enjoying her reaction. She was so cute when she blushed. "You know," he said, eyes intense, "I meant every word I said."
"R-really?" There was an uncharacteristic tinge of nervousness in her voice. What was it about him that did this to her? She wished she could figure that out.
Romeo suddenly realized what he was doing. He spotted his brother in the crowd and quickly pulled his mask back on. "Shit, I didn't think he'd be here," he muttered to himself.
Juliet followed his gaze, understanding flashing in her eyes. She pulled away from him, but didn't let go of his hand, and tugged him off of the dance floor. She led him to the stairwell, and used one of her bobby pins to pick the lock on the door that led to the roof. "Nobody ever comes up here, so we wont have to worry about getting caught."
