She smiled weakly at him. "Alright, I will," she assured him.
She smiled weakly at him. "Alright, I will," she assured him.
He pulled her to his chest and started to hum lightly, "Im not going anywhere love." He promised
She smiled. "I know. Are we sleeping here then…?"
"if you'd like. A little tight but we'll make do." He stood to grab a blanket from his bed room
"You don't have to, just because of me," she insisted quietly.
He returned with a couple blankets and sat next to her "that's exactly why I'm staying."
She blushed and shook her head. "Alright, then…"
(hey good to see you're back again!)
He smiled softly and wrapped his arms around her, leaning back to lay on the couch "comfortable?" re asked, tugging a blanket around them
(Thanks! ;)
"Yes," she replied quietly. Everything is going to be okay, she told herself. Not when I fall asleep… Not when I wake up with a nightmare! another voice jeered.
His hand moved to rest on her upper back and rubbed gently "sleep my love, nothing will happen." He kissed her brow
She smiled, but her eyes looked tired. "Alright." She laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes.
"Good night, my love, andsweet dreams." he whispered, nuzzling into her hair and falling asleep
Nathalie sighed and reluctantly gave in to sleep. The second her eyes closed, she slipped into a dream. However, it wasn't like her normal dreams, and she made it through most of the night without terrors. She only wandered through a dense forest, looking for a way out…
A twig snapped, and she whipped around. Nothing was there. Only a oak leave floating down lazily from the top of the tree. She pressed her lips together before turning and continuing on her journey. After a few more moments, she stumbled across a clearing. Literally stumbled – she tripped on the root of a tree, staggered forward, and looked up to find herself in a meadow with the forest behind her. Strange, she thought, but it was a dream, so anything could happen. The meadow looked as if it went on forever with it's sloping hills and lush green grass.
"Wait," someone behind her said quietly. Nathalie quickly turned and saw her kwami, Duusu, hovering at the entrance to the forest.
"Duusu?" Nathalie asked, and her voice was carried up into the air. Her sound surrounded them for a second, then was gone. However, Nathalie didn't have time to question it.
"Don't go out there," Duusu warned.
"And why not?" Nathalie questioned, narrowing her eyes curiously.
Duusu looked beyond Nathalie. "Because of that."
Nathalie turned and her eyes widened instantly. A huge monster was storming across the field. It was looking around angrily, like it was searching for something. It's eyes landed on Nathalie, and it suddenly roared louder than any sound Nathalie had ever heard. She winced and held her ears. This proved costly as the monster was headed right towards her. Nathalie straightened again and tried to pick up her feet to run, but to no avail. The grasses had grown into thick ropes that snaked around her ankles and held her fast to the ground.
Suddenly, Nathalie had an idea. "Duusu, feathers out!" she cried. Her kwami came to her aid, and Nathalie became Mayura. Now with her powers, Mayura used her fan to cut away the knotted grasses that held her down. She began to run back to the safety and cover of the forest. The monster was getting closed now, and she could feel the ground shaking beneath her violently. She felt a shadow fall over her–
Nathalie gasped and woke up with a sharp pain in her head. "Oh…" she moaned, pressing her fingers to her temples. Gabriel! she thought, opening her eyes quickly and looking at him. She hoped that she hadn't woken him, but the chances were unlikely.
He glanced down at her "You alright love?" he asked sleepily, stretching a bit and then relaxing. He stroked her hair and brow soothingly. "Bad dream?"
"Not bad, per say," she whispered, her head throbbing. "Just… strange."
He tilted his head "Ok…so better than most nights at least." He kissed her temple and sighed "I'm going back to sleep." he mutterd, snuggling close
"I don't blame you," she murmured. Instead of falling asleep however, she stayed up until early morning, trying to piece together her dream and its meaning. The more she thought about it, the more its strange events faded from her mind. By the break of dawn, the only thing that she could remember was her headache.
He woke in the early morning hours and glanced down at her "You didn't sleep did you love?" he asked, stroking her hair lovingly
She sighed. “I can’t hide anything from you, can I?” she asked, attempting a light-hearted tone.
He shook his head "No, not really." He kissed her brow "what was it this time."
(Haha, except your son being your enemy….)
"Nothing. I can barely remember," she sighed truthfully.
He breathed a small laugh "we need to start keeping track."
She smiled weakly. "That's alright."
His brow creased with worry but he didn't ask questions "Ready to get to work?" he asked with a sigh
"Yes," she said softly. The muted dawn light was beginning to fill the room with a hazy glow. The warmth made her feel happier, and she didn't want to leave.
