Gabriel nodded and drove for another few miles before pulling into an area. Beyond that were gates that led into the Night Carnival.

She adjusted her mask and smoothed her dress. Never look good enough… A spike of anger and sadness stabbed through her, then it was gone.

Gabriel got out of the car and helped Nathalie out. "You look stunning, love." He whispered in her ear before offering his arm

She smiled and took his arm to get out of the car. "Thank you, Gabriel," she murmured in reply.

He nodded and lead her to the gates "It's amazing, I wonder how we never heard of it until now."

"Well neither of us have gotten out much before recently, so it's a wonder we found out at all," she murmured. Her miraculous was pinned to her dress, and it glistened as it caught the lights of the nearby booths.

He nodded "true, guess we're a lucky few then." He smiled and pulled his mask on, glancing around at the booths and performances happening on the streets and pathways

"Maybe we are," she replied, unfurling her fan absently. She stayed close by his side the entire time.

They walked over to a performer who was doing tricks with fire and a hula-hoop. He watched in awe before moving on to other booths

Nathalie's eyes swept the crowd in front of her. It was almost like she was looking for something, or someone. She followed Gabriel's lead between booths and performances.

He glanced up as heard an announcement
"All participants are welcome to join us in the center green for our traditional dance!"
Gabriel tilted his head in intrigue and glanced at Nathalie "Up for a dance, love?"

She blushed. "If you are, then I am," she answered gently.

He grinned and pulled her towards the area. "Always." He said over his shoulder, feeling free from all the expectations and responsibilities along with his revenge and planning
