What could we do for after?)
(Uh……… I dunno…
What could we do for after?)
Well, if we skip a weak or so, we can say that they’ve talked a bit more and stuff idk
Uhh… maybe Seb shows up to pick Ella up with a bleeding cheek and a bruised and beat up face?
(Ooh. That sounds good!)
Alright! Be aware that I’ll be making this up as I go along, lol
Would Layla be scared of the bruises and scabs?)
(Okay, that’s fine. Lol.
No, probably not.)
(Kk)
(Ugh okay give me like fifteen minutes to type up something relatively okay)
(Lol. Don’t worry about it; I’m sure it’ll be fine!)
(Oof sorry)
The whole world was tilting, spinning, blurring before Sebastian’s eyes, colours and shapes distorting, sounds blending together in a hopelessly confusing symphony. He pressed a hand to his throbbing temple, squeezing his eyes shut in an attempt to stop the wave of dizziness that was threatening to overcome him.
He’d been on his way to pick up Ella when a small gang of three had surrounded him, demanding for him to hand over his wallet. Like an idiot, he’d refused, and ended up on the ground, spitting out blood while the guys made off with his credit card.
His first priority had not been cancelling his card, nor had it been cleaning up his badly bruised and beaten up face, but making sure his beautiful daughter got safely home. So, Sebastian merely wiped the blood off his face with the back of his sleeve and entered the daycare, praying in futile that no one would stare.
Devon was just about to leave the daycare with Layla in her arms when she looked up and saw Sebastian walking in. She gasped at the blood and cuts and bruises on his face and immediately made her way over to him.
“Oh my gosh… Sebastian, what happened?” she asked, her gaze flickering over him worriedly.
Sebastian turned his head at the sound of a familiar voice, shaking his mop of curls in front of his black eye, which hurt live the devil and was swollen half-shut. "Devon, hey." He tried for a smile, but it came out looking more like a pained grimace. "Nothing—Just, ah, ran into some trouble on the way here."
Jodie, one of the daycare managers, hurried over, her round face a picture of shock and concern. "Sebastian?" She was probably the closest thing he had to a friend right now, but her worry only caused him more pain. "I'm fine, it's fine. Where's Ella?"
As if on cue, his daughter came toddling unsteadily over, giggling excitedly. But when he hoisted her up despite his weak limbs, she gawked at the bruises on his face and touched one of them with her finger. "Daddy…. hurr?"
"No, daddy's not hurt," he reassured her gently. "Daddy's fine."
“Gosh, Sebastian, that’s not nothing…” Devon sighed, tightening her grip on Layla as she little girl tried to squirm closer to Sebastian. She just wanted to see what was on the fun man’s face, so why wouldn’t her mom let her? “You should get those cleaned up… And make sure they won’t get infected or anything.”
"Honestly, it's fine. A couple of guys jumped me on my way here, no big deal." It was evident that Sebastian was getting antsy in a room with so many people looking at him—he was practically brimming with nervous energy.
Ella pushed back his curls to reveal his black eye. "Daddy?" she said again, sounding so genuinely concerned for someone so tiny that Sebastian's heart melted. "Daddy's fine, remember? I'm happy to see you, pumpkin." Turning apologetically to Jodie and Devon, he bit the inside of his cheek. "I should probably get going. Nice seeing both of you, though."
Devon sighed and glanced at Jodie, slowly shaking her head. Maybe she should go offer to help him… But that would mean getting very close. And she wasn’t exactly comfortable with being close to people or touching them.
“Sebastian, wait,” she finally called, hefting Layla higher up. As she started toward him.
Sebastian was halfway out the door when Devon's voice stopped him. He turned around, making sure his tone was light and casual when he spoke.
"What's up?"
“I can help clean you up if you’d like,” Devon offered after she had made her way back to him.
Layla laughed and reached for her friend. “Ella!”
Sebastian tightened his grip on Ella when she began to wriggle, reaching for her friend.
"Oh, it's fine, I don't want to bother you," he said lightly, pulling off an air of nonchalance. "It's not bad, anyways."
“It’s not a bother. You’re hurt,” Devon said softly. “Let me help you get fixed up.”
Ella struggled against her father's embrace, trying to worm her way out in order to get to Layla. Sebastian sighed, slowly caving in. "Alright, but only if you have nothing better to do," he relented, shifting positions.
Devon smiled a bit and shrugged. “I really don’t, honestly. I was just going to go home, set this one—“ She nuzzled Layla’s forehead, earning a giggle. “—down with some toys, and binge watch the Flash on Netflix.”
(fangirls internally)
"If you're sure…." he murmured, raising a hand to rub self-consciously at the gash on his cheek, which had begun to bleed.
“I’m sure,” Devon said quickly, nodding just as fast. She chewed on her lip as she looked over his face, trying not to get distracted by his caramelly eyes like she had when they first met and instead looking at the cuts and scrapes and bruises. “Did you need a ride?”
"I could just walk," Sebastian answered, fighting the urge to fidget beneath her gaze. He just wanted to melt away, forget he'd ever been marked up like this…
“Oh, yeah… If you’re sure. It’s pretty chilly out today, though,” Devon mused, glancing outside.
"I'll be fine.. thank you for your offer, though." Sebastian kissed the tip of Ella's nose as an attempt to distract her from her attempts to wriggle away from him. "Your address is [insert address], right?"
Devon turned back to Sebastian as he spoke, nodding when he listed off her address. “Yeah, it is. Good memory,” she said, giving him a small smile.
