Skye laughed, "I thought all you had to do was put a quarter in, not kick it!" he said.
Skye laughed, "I thought all you had to do was put a quarter in, not kick it!" he said.
Rick glanced at the sound of his laugh, it was light, and the expression his face took in amusement was a rare sight. He wondered if laughing was the same rarity to the stranger as it was to himself. He laughed too, "Didn't have a quarter on me."
Skye laughed again, "Fair enough" he said, grinning. Finally he paused, listening to the music before humming along.
Alaric hung his head and tried to hide his smile, he walked back and sat on his abandoned stool, he considered having another cigarette. "Smoke?" He asked, sliding his pack halfway.
"No thanks" said Skye, giving him a weak smile."Weird as it sounds that stuff never sit well with me."
"Mh, I hear ya." He nodded, "My mom used to smoke these ones, all the time." Alaric shook one out, "Dad would kill me if I smoked these at home. It's the smell."
"I don't blame him" said Skye wryly. "Not to be rude or anything but I have to agree with your father."
Alaric nodded thoughtfully, "He hates them cause they remind him of her. I saw it on his face." He clenched his jaw and stared down at the unlit one in his hands. Alaric tried to change the subject. "So what about you? Is Junebug Lewis butthurt too?"
"He can be, he always tries to use me in his threats" said Skye. "Though I get why, it's just annoying, like I have no life of my own."
"You have one out here." Alaric gestured out the windows into the dark night. "You got a life, free from him out there. You can meet whoever you want. Get into your own trouble."
"Ha ha I wish." said Skye, "He'll have the entire city swarmed with men if I'm not back by morning."
Morning. Alaric thought Oh my god, morning. He quietly glanced at the clock, it was later than he thought. He turned back to hi seriously, fidgeting with his own hands. "Yeah, um." He looked past him through the window. "How far are you, really, from your place? Dad's got early risers out here."
Skye thought for a moment, "Couple hours if I really book it" he said. "Listen I'm not scared of any crimelord's men, there's a reason my father uses me to threaten others." he said.
Alaric rested the side of his head on a supporting arm, then gestured the waitress to come over. "Yeah? And why's that?"
"Not telling" said Skye, his eyes turning hard, holding a glint of danger. "Just don't cross me"
"Hmm, You're dangerous, huh?" Alaric smiled playfully, this was so unlike him. He flicked a gold strand of hair out of his face,
"And what if I did?"
"You'd regret it immediately" said Skye, "And I don't wanna do that to you"
Alaric frowned, he didn't like secrets. "Why?" He asked, looking straight at him.
"I told you I can't tell you" said Skye, a flash of sadness appearing in his eyes.
(I just thought of a fun plot thing, I'm gonna use it, you can figure it out!)

"Hm, alright alright." Alaric nodded, frustrated. the waitress came over with the bill. He stood up, getting ready to leave, but hesitated. Tapping his foot, he looked at him and said, "You keep your secrets, child of Junebug. I'll keep my mortality." He tossed a five-dollar on the counter and grabbed his pack of cigs. "I won't see you around."
Skye sighed sadly, "I kinda wish I could tell you.." he said, to quietly for the other to hear. But hey, I'm lucky I can even get out here.
"Hey, wanna meet up again sometime?" he asked, calling after the other.
Alaric froze in the doorway, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, incredibly confused. He quirked an eyebrow, "Why?"
"I've never had a friend before…" said Skye, "And I like you…" he gave the other a faint smile.
He stared back at the person talking, he could hear his words, but he couldn't process. Alaric leaned on the doorframe, almost at a loss for words, "I don't even know your name."
"It's Skye" he said, "Skye Wolfheart" he got up and came over, his violet eyes showing a glimmer of hope.
