Drew followed her, trying not to stumble over himself. “Okay. If you say so.”
Drew followed her, trying not to stumble over himself. “Okay. If you say so.”
She dragged him out onto the deck. She looked at Drew. She bent down. "Drew do you know what a piggy back ride is?"
Drew shook his head slowly. “N-no, I don’t. What is it?”
"Your going to put your arms around my neck and I'm going to grab onto your legs." She said bending down. "Could you do that?""
Drew blinked a couple times. “Er-er I can try.”
"Ok than." She said. "I'm already bending down."
Drew felt around for her and finally found her neck, wrapping his arms around her.
“Okay.”
Shadow grabbed his legs in a piggy back ride. "Can you wrap you legs around me?"
Drew squeaked when he left the ground and clung to her. “Wh-what?” He instinctively wrapped his legs around her.
"I need to climb up to the crows nest and I won't be able to climb very well if I have to hold your legs." She explained to Drew.
Drew set his head on hers and widened his eyes. “I-I, okay?”
"Thanks!" Shadow said as she started to climb up the net leading up to the crows nest.
Drew clung to her for dear life, not wanting to fall off. He felt himself slip and held on tighter.
Shadow got up to the crows nest and set Drew down. "How was that?" Shadow asked as she breathed the sea air.
Drew was still clinging to her like a lost child to his mother’s skirts. “Ar-are we on solid ground?”
"Well you are." She said standing on the edge of the crows nest.
Drew felt around him before letting her go, grasping the wooded side of the basket-like perch. The wind tossed at his hair, and salt nipped at his nose.
"You doing OK?" She said laughing.
Drew looked up, down, left, right, behind him, trying to look at her. The wind stole her voice from clearly reaching his ears.
“Er… I don’t know,” He answered unsurely.
"Good enough!" She said hopping back down. "Do you like the wind? The air? The sun?" She said sighing.
“I-I guess so?” Drew answered slowly, shrugging.
"I guess so?" Shadow said laughing. "You don't seem to have a opinion on anything."
Drew blinked. “Well, I should not be allowed to.”
Shadows mouth stood open at that. Not being outside was one thing but not being able to express feeling was a whole different thing. Suppressing your emotions was like not showing 99% of your body. It hide who you were. "You have every right to express emotion here." Shadow said. "And you should."
Drew looked down and sniffed the air doggedly. “What is that smell? It smells nice.” He was unaware of her shock in him. What he just said was completely normal to him.
