Drew opened his eyes. “What if I don’t have magic? What if I’m useless?”

"Then you can do something to make your self not useless." Nykidia said.

Drew sighed. “But that requires seeing.”

"Not always. Beethoven was deaf and he was a composer of music." She said.

“But he could see. And probaby feel the frequencies of the notes…”

"And you can hear. Homer was blind and he was a great philosopher." She pointed out.

“But I’m not very smart,” Drew protested.

"Nonsense. You have more sense than most people on this ship." She said.

Drew tilted his head. “And what’s that gonna do?”

"You could become a…a….OK I'm not very creative but you could become something." She said.

“Like what?” Drew interrogated anyway, tilting his head.

"Like I said I'm not very creative. But you could become literally anything you want." She said shrugging.

“With a bit of smarts and me being blind? Uhh… okay…” He turned his head this way and that.

"Yeah. You can." She said.

Drew shook his head. “I don’t think I can. You should just… not.”

Shadow wacked him in the back of the head. "Stop it with that attitude, Mr pessimist." She said scolding him.

Drew squeaked and grabbed his head where she hit it. “What was that?”

"I smacked you hoping it would knock some sense into you." She said. "Your acting like your life is about to end."

“You threatened to throw me overboard!” Drew squeaked out, sitting up.

"That was a joke." She said. "Jake would literally kill me if I did that."

Drew blinked a couple times. “B-but why does he care?”

"Well for business terms it's kinda bad to deliver a dead hostage. And also if possible Jake tries to kill the least amount of people he can get away with." She explained.

“But I’m not a hostage!” Drew protested.

"Well you still kinda are." Shadow said. She couldn't lie to him.

“I am?” He tilted his head. “But… but…”
