M chuckled softly and glanced up to check if they were outside yet. They were nearing the front doors.
βIt is quite bothersome,β M agreed after a moment.

Alison went back to smiling at him. She was glad she was able to make him smile and laugh. To her it seemed that he didnβt get to do that often enough because of how much work he had to do, but Neo was his brother, so she understood why he did so much for him.
M glanced down at her, giving a slight grin. βI am assured your few weeks without me were okay?β
Alison crinkled her nose slightly. βThey were all right. Fairly uneventful. I missed you, of course. I saw Evelyn a few times, and we talked for a bit.β
M smiled a bit, nodding. βEvelyn is nice. I think sheβll make a fitting queen when the time comes.β
βI think she will, too. That is, if Neo ever actually proposes,β Alison said with a light laugh.
M chuckled softly and pushed open the front doors, holding them open for her.
βHe will do it in his own time. Or Evelyn will propose,β M mused with a shrug.
βThank you,β Alison said as she stepped outside. βAnd wouldnβt that be fun to watch? I bet Neo wouldnβt know what to do if she did that.β
M shut the doors behind him, gave a curt nod to one of the guards, and turned his attention back to Alison.
βIt would be very entertaining.β M smiled a bit. βBut proposing is very stressful.β
βYou looked so nervous when you proposed to me,β Alison giggled softly, her eyes soft as she remembered the day. βBut you did a wonderful job.β
M nudged her as they made their way down the large marble staircase. βYou canβt blame me for such a thing. Nervousness is natural.β
βI know, dear. I just found it cute, is all,β Alison said, smiling over at him. βIβm very glad you proposed.β
M carefully avoided her gaze, though his smile was apparent. βIβm glad I proposed, too. Now, which way to home?β He asked once they reached the bottom of the steps.
βLeft. And then right at the next street,β Alison directed as she turned in that direction. She slipped her arm through Mβs as they walked, leaning into him slightly.
(Pooped)
M held her arm close to him, curling their fingers together. He was careful to keep his stride short and slow for her as they walked down the street, then left.
(Oh my word⦠Why, autocorrect???)
βWhen do you think you fell asleep last night?β Alison asked softly. Or this morning, more likelyβ¦
(Lmao)
M frowned. He didnβt really keep a close eye on his clock. He didnβt even have one in his office.
βMaybeβ¦ three oβ clock?β
Alison nodded slowly. βThen you are going straight to bed when we get home. Wellβ¦ After you change out of that shirt. Howβd you manage that, anyway?β
M felt a rush of gratitude for her press into his heart. She was too kind for him, really.
βI have no idea,β M admitted. βProbably a leaky pen.β
βMakes sense,β Alison mused, nodding again. βThat would also explain why you needed a new pen, as well.β
M nodded. βI need new pens every other week. They donβt make them the way they did all those years ago,β M privately reminisced, sighing.
βMaybe you should just buy a crate of them, hun,β Alison teased him, chuckling lightly. βThen you wouldnβt run out as quickly.β
M frowned. βBut theyβre Almasian (kinda like the British in this world). Theyβre that rare and special, too.β
Alison hummed a bit, looking thoughtful. βWellβ¦ What if you just ordered a few at a time, then? Or could you send them the ones that break and see if theyβll fix them?β
M nodded thoughtfully. βIβll try that. Thanks.β He smiled warmly at her.
