“Sounds good, love. I hope to see you soon. Don’t forget to eat lunch, okay?” Ashley reminded him softly.

M nodded and sighed. "Yeah. I won't forget. I'll be home as soon as I can. Sorry for running out on you 'n stuff."

Ashley smiled a little at his words. “That’s okay, hun. I’m just glad I got to see you before you left.”

M smiled faintly, but he didn't feel willing to it whenever he did smile. It was really strange, and he let his lips fall again with a sigh.
"Yeah, I'm glad to have seen you too."

“Well… I suppose you should get back to your work, right? So I guess I’ll let you go,” Alison said softly.

M looked down at a thick stack of papers lined up on his desk, almost plauging the brown, wooden surface of it.
"Yeah, I should. I'll talk to you later."

“Mmhm. Talk to you later, M. Love you,” Alison said before hanging up.

"Love you too," The detective said back, fiddling with his pen. He really didn't want to hang up, but he couldn't leave to go back until his work was done
