Awake.
That's all she was.
Awake as she stared at the ceiling, her legs up on the wall, her head dangling off the bed. She groaned for the fifteenth time that day and shifted, rolling off the bed. She'd walked in circles, carved drawings into the walls, and how many times she's blinked in the last hour. Boredom was an understatement.
Insanity had set Cupid to bed in her room, locking the door for good measure. He had done what Death had suggested. Keep Cupi away from Dhiscord. He wasnβt entirely why, but he did, for the sake of his child. He swept down the hall to his βZooβ where he kept the animals he was monitoring.
Dhiscord looked out the small window of her room. Insanity had not come to see her or bring any scraps of food. She slowly pushed the door open, it was easy to unlock, and stepped outside. Looking down the hallways, she took a deep breath. But besides that, she just stood.
The lights in his lab were on and illuminating. They shone on th mottled gray walls that looked highly textured and plesant on the eye, as well as the checkered black floor of the lab. The air around her was cool and relaxed.
Dhiscord looked about. So many more normal aspects she'd ignored when she'd first arrived. She took a deep breath of cool air, much different from the stuffy air around her in her "cell".
Soft hums touched her ears as she poked her head around. Insanity was enjoying feeding his animals, one of which was a cute seal-dolphin hybrid, called a Rny. Theyβve been extinct for thirty years, and Insanity had managed to snag one just before it died off.
Dhiscord finally decided to move. She stepped down the hallway, hands clasped behind her back. SHe walked without fear. She'd either get caught or she wouldn't and that was that.
The Rny clapped its fins together when Insanity entered the room, squealing happily. It was a brown-blue male, with a tiny tiny pup under its tummy.
Insanity smiled warmly, stepping closer. βHey boys! Hereβs your food.β He gave them a couple sea bass.
She heard Insanity and the clapping, instantly her curiousity sky-rocketed. She turned in that direction and neared the hall way. Stepping quietly, Dhiscord stopped once Insanity came into veiw.
The older Rny βarrrfβed at him and gobbled up a fish, while the pup scooted forward a little to grab up its tiny one. Insanity laughed, shifting his grip on the bucket and watching them.
Dhiscord stepped out of sight, but continued to watch. For the God Insanity, the being before her was rather calm and gentle. It confused her beyond repair.
The pup laid down with the fish between its paws, chewing at the tough skin of the fish. The older Rny leaned down to help it, gently tearing at the skin of it. Insanity smiled a soft, happy smile, turning to go into another room.
Dhiscord waited for Insanity to move before she did. She followed his path and peeked from a corner as he went to another room. Where did these animals come from? She thought.
The elder Rny seemed to have seen her movement because it turned to look at her. It grabbed its pup and backed up warily, βaaaaarrrfffffβing warily.
Dhiscord didn't acknowledge the creature in the slightest. Trying to be friendly would make it think she wanted to play, being mean would make it think she was the enemy. And she was neither, she was just her to watch her captor for the lack of anything better to doo.
Insanity shut the door to the next enclosure, which unfortunately happened to be locked. For good reason, too. Inside of the room was a strange ape-like thing. It seemed to be interlocked between the evolution of human and ape (which I donβt care what you say, exists in this Universe). Insanity grabbed a banana from his coat, which the ape screeched for and grabbed.
Dhiscord's head cocked when she heard the screech. What was that? Where did all of these fantastical beast even come from and why did he have them? SHe pressed her ear to the door.
Insanity hummed to it as he passed under the knarled branches of the habitat. The ape sat up from its meal and hummed back, its eyes shutting as it swung from a branch and plopping onto the floor next to him.
Dhiscord stepped away from the door, the room was deeper than it looked from the outside and she couldn't hear the noise anymore. She went back down the hall and turned left. Maybe she could find some food.
