"I'm just glad you're getting used to this life with me." He smiled, kissing Bryn sweetly.
"I'm just glad you're getting used to this life with me." He smiled, kissing Bryn sweetly.
Bryn kissed him back. "I'm glad I even get to have this life. I never imagined I could be with anyone like this, let alone a human."
Sebastian smiled softly, playing with Bryn's hair a little.
"I never thought something like this would happen either. But I would never give this up."
Bryn purred quietly, leaning into the touch. "Yeah, me neither. You're an amazing guy Sebastian, I'm really glad I got to know you."
"Me too." Sebastian knew just how close they had come to a totally different life, and he was so, so glad they had changed direction.
"Love you."
"I love you too." Bryn nuzzled the crook of Sebastian's neck, basking in his human's warmth. He was still amazed by how loved he was with his human. How appreciated. It made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. "So so much."
Sebastian smiled, kissing the side of Bryn's head and giving him a hug. He closed his eyes for a moment, just enjoying being able to hold his boyfriend in their nest of a bed.
Bryn hugged him back, leaning into the kiss with a sigh of contentment. He stayed still for a long time, just basking in the feeling of being held, but eventually the stillness started to make him antsy. "Sebastian, how come your friend did that talky thing before she ate when we visited?"
Sebastian opened one eye when Bryn spoke, then the other. He thought for a moment on how best to explain this.
"Well, it's part of her religion. It's called prayer, and she does it all the time. She believes that it allows her to talk to God."
Bryn nodded, keeping quiet as Sebastian explained it. "Oh. I've done that, only… not with a god. And what is this god thing anyways? Is it like a daemo?"
"I'm not entirely sure," Sebastian admitted. "What is a daemo?"
(boop?)
(Sorry, computer troubles!)
"Like… a big demon." Bryn said big like it meant something more, something special. "More magic, more power. They created us, the little race, and they created the world from the bones of their fallen and they are… more than Demon."
Sebastian thought for a moment, then nodded.
"Yes, kinda like that. CC believes that her God created everything, and that he knows everything too." He paused, remembering the other big part of her religion.
Bryn nodded, eating up the information eagerly. "So a god is like a Daemo but one, and human, and all powerful?" He waited for an answer before he asked his other questions, wanting to make sure he understood. "Then why does she talk to him before lunch? Does she do that every day, or just special ones? And why lunch, is lunch special?"
"Kind of," Sebastian said. "CC insists her God isn't human, but that he is? It's weird, she says there's only one God, but also three?" Sebastian shrugged a little.
"And she prays all the time, not just before lunch. She says it's because God likes to listen to humans, and that He won't do anything for them if they don't ask for it, but He also will if He decides to. It's all very… complicated."
Bryn frowned, trying to absorb this web of contradictions. "How… how do you even believe all that? Doesn't he have things to do? Like… taking care of the animals or the earth or the sky? How come he's got so much time to mess with you humans?"
"I'm not really sure myself. CC said he was omnipresent, but… I don't really get how that could be possible. She also said that- and I'm paraphrasing here- 'The robin knows God will provide for it, but it won't just sit on a telephone wire with its mouth open to the sky. You have to use the opportunities God gives you.' I, personally, think it's a load of bull." Sebastian sighed, explaining as best he could. He didn't know much about it, though.
Bryn frowned even more. "I don't think I undertand. Why… why woudn't he feed the robin? They're so cute, if it's waiting to be fed he should give it a bit of bread or something, not make it wait with it's mouth open." His usual pout was settling in as he tried to decipher this uniquely human riddle and came up short. "But… you said you don't believe he does that at all, so which is it? Does he feed the bird or not?"
"It's… oh, I don't know how to explain this- He doesn't feed the bird, per se, but provides opportunities for the bird to go get food. Like… Like if someone's house was on fire, and they prayed to God to put it out. When the firefighters show up, the person says 'don't worry, I prayed about it and God's gonna put the fire out.' The house burns down, because the person didn't take the opportunity to put the fire out." By now Sebastian realized he was doing a really crappy job of explaining, but he was doing his best.
Bryn, who had been a tad worried that God was just being an irresponsible pet owner, felt more relief than understanding, but he nodded anyway. "So… God wants to help you, but… he also wants you to figure it out for yourself? And because of that, his help is like… sneaky? This is all really weird, shouldn't he just help you if you need help? Isn't that the nice thing to do?"
(Omg, I shouldn't be laughing this much. "Irresponsible pet owner" XD)
"That's what I think, but whenever I bring it up CC just scoffs and says 'you'll get it someday.' I just find the entire idea stupid, but that's besides the point." Sebastian rolled his eyes when he quoted CC.
"I personally don't have a religion."
(lol, glad I could make you laugh)
Bryn nodded, glad the whole confusing business could be over now as they moved onto a new topic. "Really? How do you do that?? What do you think made the universe if it wasn't a god or a daemo or… or some other big strong thing?"
"I figured the universe just made itself. It's called the Big Bang theory. At first nothing, and then, something. I just can't wrap my head around the idea of someone else making everything- how could someone be that powerful?" Sebastian knew that the universe spontaneously existing didn't make any more sense, but he figured it was better than thinking there was some other being that made him.
Bryn hummed quietly, considering it. "Maybe it's harder for you because you weren't raised with magic, but… demons can have a lot of power. It's not so foreign to think that in the times way before ours there were people more powerful. People who could throw stars and planets into alignment. That makes a little more sense than just… existing suddenly."
