"Sir!" Raven said, quickly getting in between the merchant and Izzy. "No need for any of that. I can pay for her." She said, pulling coins out of her pocket. "Is this enough?" She asked, depositing more than enough money into his hand.
The man counted the coins, letting go of Izzy with a nod, "That's should cover it. I'd make sure your friend knows how things work before tryin' to steal down 'ere." He grumbled, turning away from the two girls. Izzy relaxed behind Raven.
Once the man turned his back Raven grabbed enough apples to make up for what she payed for. Raven grabbed ahold of Izzy's hand as she pulled her away from the booth. "Not to pry, but it doesn't look like you're from around here." She said, pulling Izzy close enough that she didn't have to raise her voice above a whisper.
Izzy blushed lightly from embarrassment, "I mean I wouldn't say I'm not from around here. I just don't get out much." She replied, looking up at Raven for a moment before back to the path ahead, "Where are we going?"
"We're getting off the main streets." She said as she pulled her off down an alleyway. "When that merchant notices a few of his apples are missing, he's going to alert the guards, and I don't feel like being chased today."
Izzy bit her lip, letting Raven drag her away. She'd rather not get caught out of the palace, anyway. Otherwise she'd never get any privacy, "Of course, right that makes sense. What's your name?"
"Raven" She said with a smirk. "What about yours, princess?" She joked as she made a few more turns.
Izzy blinked a couple times, "I-I.. what did you call me?" It wasn't obvious she was the princess, was it?
"Well your from the palace, aren't you?" She asked as they came to a dead end. "Only people from the palace dress as nice of you, princess."
She bit her lip, sighing softly, "I didn't think it was that obvious. Please, just call me Izzy, there's no need for formalities."
"Alright, Izzy." She said as she hopped up a few boxes to a window. "You must be important there. Head servant? The princesses handmaiden?" She guessed before slipping inside, expecting Izzy to follow.
Izzy did, being careful not to hurt herself or fall off the boxes as she climbed through the window, "Ah right yes I'm uh, the princesses handmaiden." An easy lie, one she hoped Raven wouldn't pick up on.
"You're a long way away from where your supposed to me." Raven said as she helped her through. The top floor on the building was abandoned, though voices could be heard downstairs. "Would the princesses be alright with you doing this?"
She couldn't help but smile a little, shrugging her shoulders casually, "I doubt she's going to care. We're pretty close so one day where I am not around isn't going to hurt."
"So you and the princesses are actually friends?" She asked. She walked across the building to another open window. "What is she like?"
Izzy followed, taking a moment to think about it without sounding like she was being narcissistic. Not that Raven would know, "She's kind, sweet, even. Cares for everyone even when it gets her in trouble."
Raven smiled softly. "She sounds nice. Wish I knew what she looked like." She swung her legs out the window before jumping down.
Izzy sighed a little before she peered out the window where Raven went, "Are you sure this is safe?" She asked, looking slightly worried.
Raven wasn't too far below the window, balanced on two pieces of wood that were between the two buildings.
"Come on! It's not the high of a jump." She yelled up at her. "I'll catch you!" She held out her arms.
Izzy eyed the wood with worry. But, she swung her legs over the edge of the window and jumped. She just hope Raven would catch her.
Raven caught her, bridal style. "See! Told you, princesses." She teased as she stared to walk across the planks of wood, onto the next roof.
Izzy blushed, wrapping her arms around Raven's neck almost immediately after she was caught, "You're quite good at that."
Raven chuckled as she set her down once they were firmly on the next roof. "Why thank you, miss." She said, miming her tipping her hat. "Do you need to be back to the palace soon?"
Izzy shook her head, wrapping her cloak around her shoulders, “No, I don’t. Well I don’t think so at least.” She smiled.
"Good!" Raven said with a smile. "Then I can spend more time with you." She said as she jumped across a small gap between buildings. "That is, if you want to spend time with a street rat like me." She smirked.
