Frankie nodded, finally starting to feel his muscles burn. ”Yeah they are but there are just days when you need your own space.” he admitted. ”I like hanging out with you too, Selina.” he smiled a little shyly. ”Hey, when should we get going so we reach that other place you wanted to show me at sunset?”
Selina sank a little further into the water before coming back up, smiling and shrugging a little, "The sooner we leave means we can walk a little slower, but I would also say we should eat something before we get going. It's a long hike and we'll need the energy."
He nodded in agreement. ”I did pack some snacks, a couple of sandwiches and plenty of water.” he told her. ”They’re all in my backpack. I thought it'd be nice so we could spend more time together today.” Frankie had a faint blush on his face as he admitted that. ”You wanna eat now or later on the walk?”
She felt her own cheeks heat up a little and she did her best to shrug again as she started to swim to shore, "You're the one in control of the food, it's up to you when we eat." Frankie packing snacks so they could spent time together today was something that made her smile again, even just at the thought. Dang, when did she start developing a crush on this boy? He'd only been here a few days and she already had a crush on him.
He nodded and swam after her, not noticing her blush. How did a guy like me get to meet someone as amazing as her? he wondered. They had only known each other for a short amount of time and yet… He would admit that he really liked her. No one else ever really understood or connected with him the way she did. ”We could have something for a snack now if you want.” he offered, glancing at the sun’s position. ”We can have the sandwiches later during the hike.”
"Sure, and then I'll help get something together if we get hungry when we get there," She replied, slowing her swimming so she could swim a little closer to him. The walk would be long but most likely nice as their clothes dried and cooled them off on the walk.
”Sounds like a plan.” he smiled as he swam alongside her. More than a plan; this was starting to sound like a perfect day. Hiking through a beautiful park, probably on a trail very few people knew of, to something no doubt amazing with a good friend. ”I can't wait to see it.”
Selina smiled a little through the effort of swimming, quite excited to spend time with him and show him one of her favorite trails in the whole park. The path leading to where she wanted to show him was gorgeous and she liked it even more than the path leading them to where they were now.
The water shallowing Frankie stood up and stretched out his arms, walking over to the rocky but dry shore. He shook out his hair and, having nothing else to use, picked up his shirt to dry off his face and hands before he would reach for his backpack. ”Want something to drink?” he asked as he grabbed his canteen and a spare bottle of water.
"Yes please," She replied, following him up the shore and wringing out her wet hair at the same time. Her clothes were fully soaked and they stuck to her like a second skin as she found a dry spot in the sun to try to dry off a little. "Swimming is tough," She said after a few seconds, happy for the break but loving the feeling of how tired she was from swimming.
He blushed brightly and tried to only look at her face when he saw… her coming out of the water. Thankfully, the shirt he gave her wasn't white. That would have been… He quickly shook his head to keep his face from turning even more red. ”Yeah, tiring but rewarding and a lot of fun.” he smiled a little as he gave her the bottle and lay down next to her.
Selina smiled and gratefully took the bottle, taking a much needed drink before passing the bottle back to him, "Thank you, I really needed that." She didn't seem too bothered by the soaked clothes, laying back and closing her eyes, "We'll leave in a few minutes, I want to dry off a little."
”You’re welcome.” Frankie smiled taking the bottle and setting it nearby before drinking from his canteen. He knew it was a little dorky but he liked having and using the canteen when he was camping. ”I’m in no rush, I think we could both use a little break before we start hiking. This is pretty nice here.” he sighed, resting his head on one of his arms and looking at the clouds.
"It's really nice here," She agreed, opening her eyes and looking over at him with a smile, "We got a really nice day too, blue skies and warm weather." Selina was really happy that she had been able to spend the day with him, even if it was making her blush because of the fact they were laying down in the sun together.
”Yeah. Great day for swimming and hiking.” he smiled, turning to look at her face. He still couldn't believe that he got to spend a whole day with her. She was just so incredibly amazing… where he was known as a tree-hugging weirdo back home. Maybe he actually did fit in better out here.
(lol I had to actually go do some sleuthing to find Selina's eye color again)
She met his eyes and continued to smile, resting one of her hands behind her head as a pillow of sorts and really studying his face for the first time. His eyes were gorgeous to her, gray and soft compared to her own golden brown eyes. "You know," She said softly, breaking eye contact but not really looking away from him, "My kind would label humans like you as monsters and killers, and since I had firsthand experience with how bad they were, I agreed. Spending time with you though…it's making me rethink that."
(lol I’ve had to do that before too)
Frankie nodded with a small sigh. ”Well, we’re not all like that but I won't deny that humans aren't always so great either. I can actually think of a few who are definitely monsters.” he agreed, looking at her warm golden eyes. ”But I’m glad that you don't think of me like that.” he smiled.
She nodded as well but shrugged, "Not all of you are bad." her cheeks flushed though as she continued, smiling at him, "You're probably my favorite human, and by far my favorite human or one of my kind to be around." It felt like a lot to admit only after a few hours of being around him but she did really enjoy being around him.
His own face heated up at her words as if she had just said given him the best compliment in the world. ”T-thank you, Selina. Y-you’re my favorite werewolf to be around too and I enjoy your company more than that of any human I know.” he smiled back, hoping it wasn't too much to say so soon… even if she said it first. The feeling was definitely mutual.
Selina's cheeks just grew more flushed and she just responded with a bright smile and a, "Thank you, Frankie." She was so relieved that he enjoyed her company, even though she knew he had said he enjoyed being around her before. Maybe it was the fact that she felt like she finally had a friend outside of the pack, and even better one who enjoyed swimming and nature.
Frankie's smile grew a little but was still kind of shy. ”You’re welcome, Selina. I really mean it too.” he told her. He had never had known someone who he could talk to so easily and without judgment.
(lol do you ever write something and immediately come up with a heart wrenching way to see a character die and are just like NO to yourself (That just happened to me lol))
"I mean it too, Frankie," She said, flicking a wet piece of hair out of her face and keeping her bright smile. Selina turned back to look up at the sky after looking into Frankie's gray eyes again, happy she had someone she could talk to and trust even if they hadn't known each other for long.
(honestly, not very much. I tend to get too attached to my characters then I don't want anything to happen to them. … you don't mean Selina, do you?)
He smiled brightly back before slowly sitting up and opening one of the outer pockets of his backpack. ”Here. I bet you're a little hungry after swimming.” he said pulling out a couple of apples and energy bars.
(……It may have been Selina….)
She laughed lightly and nodded, sitting up when she saw the food in his hands and gently taking one of the apples from him, "Swimming works up an appetite, I'm starving. Thank you." Within seconds of grabbing the apple and saying thank you, she bit into it the same time her stomach growled loudly.
(yipe… Dare I ask what your idea was?)
Frankie nodded a little and gave a light chuckle. ”You’re welcome.” he smiled before taking a bite of the second apple. He put the two energy bars back in the pocket, fairly sure he would still have one later, and laid back down.
