“Oh my god…I trusted you! I can’t believe it, I told myself not to trust anyone for fear that they would be an alien who would be trying to kill me in my sleep or something and to think I actually started to like you!” She took a deep breath, her eyes stinging as she fought to hold her tears in. “I…I’m such a fool…”
Logan took a step back, looking down. "I know…I'm sorry." He replied quietly. "It isn't your fault." He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry." He said again, not looking at her.
Allie began to cry, turning away from Logan in embarrassment. “When were you going to tell me?” she asked quietly, her voice strained.
Logan bit his lip. "Never? I don't know…" He shook his head slightly, exhaling. "I'm sorry." He said again, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Are…are you going to kill me now?” she whispered, almost afraid to say it. She wiped at her eyes, glancing at Logan for a moment.
He shook his head slowly. "No." He replied simply, looking away. "I'm not." He raked a hand through his hair anxiously.
“Then why are you here?” she inquired. “Why aren’t you with the others?” She had stopped crying now, thankfully, and turned to face Logan after wiping her face one more time, hoping she didn’t look as bad as she thought she did.
He closed his eyes, shaking his head. "It's complicated." He replied slowly. "But…I don't mean you or any others harm, I swear. If my word is worth anything to you, anyway."
“You let me believe you were human too!” she fumed, getting a bit angry now. “And I hate it, but I…believe you.”
Logan nodded, eyes still closed. "I know." He replied softly, then opened his eyes, looking at her. "You…do?"
She narrowed her eyes. “I’m an idiot, but yes.” She was very tense. “So what are you going to do now? Go find someone else who you can pretend to be human with and play with her feelings?”
(i gtg to bed now. Good night!)
Logan flinched slightly. "I… don't know." He replied slowly, looking up at the sky. "I'm sorry." He said again.
(night!)
“You’ve said that already, Logan,” Allie responded. “I don’t want your apologies. I want to know whether you can give me a reason to trust you.”
Logan sighed. "I…what sort of reason do you want?" He asked, looking at her.
Allie sighed. “I don’t know…why are you here? I understand if you can’t tell me, but it would mean a lot if you at least give me something I can go off of to know that you can tell me truth, at least.”
"I…" He shrugged. "I don't know. I was dropped off six years ago with orders to wait for my instructions. Which…never came." he sighed, raking a hand through his hair.
“So you pretended to be human for six years?” she asked, curiosity and hurt fighting a battle in her eyes. “Do you have any idea why?”
Logan blinked, then shook his head. "No. I don't." He replied slowly, sighing softly. He looked up at the sky.
“Are you sure that they didn’t implant some sort of chip in you? What if they sent you here for this very thing? To ma—befriend someone and then they use you guys to snuff out the last survivors of the human race!” Allie theorized, beginning to get slightly hysterical. She took a step back, fear shining in her eyes.
"I don't know!" Logan exclaimed. "I don't know what's going on, or why I'm here. All i know is i was told to wait for orders, and those orders never came."
Allie sighed. "I want to trust you so badly," she said after a moment. "I want to just wave it off and continue with how things were going, but I don't know if I can." She looked at him miserably. "I'm hurt and confused and…scared."
Logan nodded. "I know…I'm sorry." He replied slowly, gently. "I can…I can leave, if that's what you want." He bit his lip, looking at her.
"I don't know what I want…" she whispered, looking back at him. "What do you want?"
Logan hesitated. You. Some tiny voice whispered in the back of his mind, and he blinked. "I… don't know." He replied slowly.
“I suppose we’re at an impasse,” she sighed dramatically. “Neither of us know what we want.” But I do kind of know what I want, the real problem is that I wish I didn’t want to stay with you, she added mentally. Allie paused, unsure what to say next. “Do you want to leave?” she asked after a few moments. She wasn’t sure what she wanted the answer to be, because as much as she wanted him to want to stay with her, if he didn’t want to, it would be much easier to cut all ties and go back to the way things were for her.
