Kallista sank to the floor, head in her hands. She started to groan, unhappy with what had just happened.
Kallista sank to the floor, head in her hands. She started to groan, unhappy with what had just happened.
Again, Rhys sighed, sending a snowflake Kallista's way, "Well… that went… well?"
She looked up at him, tears starting to form in her eyes. "That was horrible!"
He looked down, swallowing, "Sorry," He said quietly. He stood and walked and sat next to her, "It'll get better. I know that once you're better with your powers you can go back and show her how much you love her and your kingdom."
"How do I do that though? I can't control myself! I could feel myself almost about to slip!"
He took her hands in his own, giving them a small squeeze, "Breathe, Kallista. Getting upset isn't going to help you. Breathe."
She did what he said, trying to focus. "I'm sorry," She said softly. "I just have too many emotions."
"I know, and it's okay to have emotions, that's what makes you human," He replied, rubbing his thumb in soft circles, "You just need to learn how to control them when you need to."
Kallista looked at him. "And how do I do that? I know that you've already tried to help me, but look how that ended up."
"It takes time and repetitive practice," He replied calmly, "You have to remember that."
"How did you learnt to control your powers?" She asked. "Were you born with them?"
Rhys shook his head, resting his head on the wall behind him, "No, I wasn't… I… I got into an accident and… and I died… but then I was alive and had these… these powers and the staff but no one could see me."
"So…you are a ghost?" She questioned. "Before you said you weren't, but if you died….that means you are."
He sighed, closing his eyes, "Yeah… I guess you're right…"
She sighed, leaving the subject alone. "No! You can't go in there! She hasn't done anything wrong!" She heard Elina yell, and she jumped up as the door was slammed open. She ran up the stairs, trying to get away from the people who she couldn't yet see.
"Kallista!" Rhys called after her, but he didn't want to leave this level defenseless so he stayed where he was, ready to attack.
Someone came up the stairs, and Kallista started to back away, holding up her hands. "Leave me alone. Please." She was ready to defend herself should they attack, especially with other people starting to join.
Rhys’ attention shot to Kallista and he was at her side in a moment, creating a wall of ice between her and the other person.
Her breath started to get quicker, but she tried to remain calm even as the ice began to shatter. Someone aimed a crossbow at her and fired, and ice shot up to protect her as an self-conscious reflex.
Rhys looked over, eyes wide but glad that Kallista was okay, "We have to get you out of here!"
"We're am I going to go?" She asked, jumping back as she realised the arrow tip was centimeters from her face. "We're at the top of the mountain and there's no way for me to get down without them catching me."
Rhys sent her a smirk, "How'd you think I got up here? I didn't come through the front door, the wind will help."
"You can fly?" She asked, blocking a few more arrows with ice. "I didn't know that."
"Well, kinda of," Rhys blocked an arrow of his own and then held out a hand, "Come on."
She hesitated slightly, but as an arrow narrowly avoided her, she took his hand. "I'm trusting you. Don't make me think it's a mistake."
