Lucifer’s mouth parted in surprise, his mind going completely blank. A feeling fluttered up in his chest, like an old grimoire finally shaking off the dust. “I…” His mouth fumbled for words. “I… thank you?” He silently cursed himself about how that was the only thing he could come up with. If you didn’t know any better, he looked a kid who didn’t even know what love was.
"You're welcome," Gabe replied, his voice soft as he blushed even harder. He could hardly recall what he had just done, but he knew Lucifer didn't seem opposed to it.
Lucifer swallowed, looking at Gabe for a moment as he tried to just think. “Gabe, I like-“ Lucifer bit his lip as he stopped himself. No, he was stupid. What could he possibly be thinking? He would drag Gabe into his life and his problems. The farther away Gabe was from Lucifer, the safer the mortal was.
"Yeah?" Gabe asked, somehow feeling very self-assured. ((just like the leo bby he is)) "You can finish that sentence."
“No, I can’t,” Lucifer said, biting his lip nervously. How had he gotten so flustered? The kiss. Definitely the kiss, Lucifer answered himself. He sighed, explaining softly, “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Gabe smiled softly. "It's okay. I'm…I don't care. You can tell me."
“Well I care and I cannot possibly tell you I like you or else that would cause a whole mess of things,” Lucifer told him, putting his hands on his hips.
Gabe smiled a little more, blushing some. "Come on. I'm already a mess."
Lucifer looked at Gabe. He really wanted to. But after what had happened to Emilia… “Gabe, I could hurt you. You- you deserve better.”
"You've been nothing but kind to me since I got here. Everyone else has just been…kind of shit to me," Gabe told him with a small shrug. "I don't think there is a better."
Lucifer held his breath, but then the words finally came out, “Okay. I really like you. A lot.” He confessed, daring to take a nervous step closer to Gabe.
"I like you too," Gabe replied with the same smile. And it was truth. Lucifer was incredibly hot, he seemed to care about Gabe a lot, and he really had been nice to him.
Lucifer smiled. It felt nice, to be able to open up for once. To feel comfortable enough to do so. And maybe he could work his way around everything, maybe he could keep Gabe safe and happy despite the circumstances. His legs moved a few steps closer to Gabe, and his lips seemed to move on their own when Lucifer asked softly, “Can I kiss you?”
Gabe nodded, blushing a little deeper. "Yeah. You can."
Lucifer slowly leaned in, his lips brushing against Gabe’s gently before he finally kissed him. Stars, Gabe’s lips were so soft. Lucifer hadn’t kissed someone like this since… he didn’t even know when.
Gabe kissed him back, smiling into the kiss a little. His whole demeanor seemed to convey a message without having to speak at all. It's alright. Everything's okay.
Lucifer’s hands drifted in the water until it brushed up against Gabe’s hand. He felt so small, yet being with Gabe… it made him feel free, for once. Free from his duties ruling hell, free from her, free from everything. Just being here with Gabe.
Gabe took his hand, pulling away gently for air. He looked up at Lucifer, his dark brown eyes almost black in the lighting.
“I… Wow,” Lucifer mumbled. His heart fluttered like a butterfly in stuck in his chest. It had only been a gentle kiss, but Lucifer felt alive for the first time in a while. “Gosh you’re stunning…”
Gabe blushed a little, smiling. "Thanks. So are you."
“I’m the devil,” Lucifer pointed out with a tiny laugh.
"A very hot devil," Gabe told him, the smile growing wider.
Lucifer laughed, splashing a bit of water at Gabe in response, “You’re hotter than me.”
"Yeah, right," Gabe said, the smile breaking into a small laugh as he splashed him back. "I wish."
“Pfft, you are 100% hotter than me,” Lucifer told him with a laugh, splashing more water at Gabe.
