"Oh. Okay," Gabe said with a nod, hopping off of the stool and starting to follow Lucifer out. He hadn't expected to be getting a room of any sort here, let alone the good side of Lucifer.
"Oh. Okay," Gabe said with a nod, hopping off of the stool and starting to follow Lucifer out. He hadn't expected to be getting a room of any sort here, let alone the good side of Lucifer.
As Lucifer walked out of the bar, the hall way blurred around the edges, but thankfully he kept himself from stumbling. He led Gabe down the halls, past his throne room, to a large set of spiral stairs. He walked up, but his eyes looked down, at the never ending bottom of the stairs. “By the way, don’t go down there,” He told Gabe as he walked, one hand one the railing to keep himself steady.
Gabe glanced down, but all he could see was darkness as he followed Lucifer up the stairs. "Oh. Okay. Is that…the basement thing you were talking about earlier?"
“Yes, unfortunately. I’d rather you not experience what’s down there.” Lucifer said quietly. He didn’t want Gabe to see that side of him. The part he tried to keep hidden from most he took a liking to. They usually found out eventually, one way or another. But Gabe… Something was different about Gabe, Lucifer could just feel it. Maybe he really wasn’t- Lucifer cut himself off mid-thought, face growing hard and his feet stopping where they were. “Just go up the stairs until the first door. It opens to a hall, one of the demons there will get you settled in a room.” He explained, almost coldly.
Gabe nodded. Lucifer's change in demeanor was probably expected for the Devil, but he still couldn't help feeling like he had done something wrong. "Sorry," He mumbled quietly as he continued walking up the stairs past Lucifer. He felt like he needed to apologize, even though Lucifer hadn't scolded him about anything. He always did - he was used to it, he supposed. Whenever he would do something that was even a mild inconvenience to Abby, she would curse him out for hours.
Lucifer was about to turn and tell him not to apologize, but he forced himself to start walking down his spiral staircase. No reason to get attached to any weak mortals… even if they’re hot… and don’t automatically assume you’re evil… Lucifer dug his nails into the palms of his hands. Maybe he just needed another drink. But he feet did not falter when he passed the first floor, no, he walked further down. Down into the basement.
(So we could timeskip about now or something else could happen to Gabe when he goes into his room?)
((Either one is fine, do you have an idea for something else to happen to Gabe?))
(I have an idea, but I think it might be better to save it for a little bit later)
((Alright, timeskip is fine. :) When should I skip to?))
(Ummm we could just skip to next morning or we could skip maybe a few weeks ahead when Gabe has kinda gotten into the swing of things (and we could say Lucifer has talked with him occasionally and had drinks with him, but still seemed reserved). Idk, whenever you want to skip is fine with me :)
((A few weeks ahead sounds good. What idea did you have in mind for later?))
(We could build off on the ‘basement’ plan I have (although I think we should save that for after Lucifer and Gabe get closer), or Lucifer and Gabe could just get to know each other a little bit more, or Gabe could have some more encounters with other demons (and lucifer could save him maybe or something)))
((I like the one where Lucifer saves him from another demon sometime soon. :))
Gabe ran a hand through his black curls, opening his door and shutting it behind him. He walked down the first flight of stairs, stopping at the first floor and then stepping out into the hallway.
“Hey boy!” A deep voice called to Gabe. Three tall men, each with sickly grey skin, were leaning against the wall smoking, not too far away. They looked almost identical, but the one who called Gabe had the longest black hair -down to his waist- that contrasted their pure white suits. His hair seemed to shimmer when he moved. “What are you doing in boss-man’s little castle, eh?”
((Ooh stylish demons))
Gabe turned to them, his thoughts of danger quickly interrupted by one of Abby. Boy. She used to call him that in the last couple of months, not even wanting to use his name. But he pushed the thought away, realizing that these demons were probably not ones to mess with.
"Um," He said, clearing his throat. "Living. Here."
“So your his new plaything, eh?” The demon to the leader’s right chirped, then let out a sharp cackle.
The leader started to walk closer to Gabe, the other two following behind him, “What made the drunkard so fond of you, hmm? He didn’t allow us to live in his pretty little palace.”
"I have no idea. He just…I don't know," Gabe responded, looking up at them as they advanced. He knew he should probably run, but this wasn't the surface world, and it probably wouldn't do much good against demons.
“He hasn’t been using you…?” The demon to the leader’s left trailed off, then let out a dark chuckle. The other two demons joined in, the one on the right with a sharp cackle while the leader’s laugh was like silk in the wind.
The leader walked close enough for Gabe to be able to smell his breath -it smelled like mint- a smiled. “So you’re free game?”
((of course they have mints in hell lmao))
"Depends on what you mean by game," Gabe replied nervously, backing up just a little bit. Goddamnit, even the mint set him off on thoughts of Abby. Even at the worst times, she was never not in his head.
(lol)
“Means you’re free in the bed, kid, and your ours,” The leader purred, taking a step closer to Gabe.
“Excuse me?” A cold voice interrupted and three demons froze in their tracks. Because behind them stood Lucifer, his face as cold as granite. He grabbed the leader demon by the back of his suit, yanking him back. The two others jumped in fear, quickly giving Gabe and Lucifer space. But the devil didn’t let the leader go just yet. The fear was clearly visible on the cowering demon’s face.
Lucifer looked at Gabe, his eyes softening as he asked, “Did they hurt you?”
Gabe looked up at him, eyes wide. He really hadn't expected Lucifer to come and…well, come and save him, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him. He noted the way his eyes softened, tilting his head ever so slightly. "No, but…I think they were going to."
Lucifer didn’t know what was coming over him, but it only took a blink to be shoving the leader against the nearby wall. “Guards!” Lucifer shouted angrily. The two demons he didn’t have pinned down were already starting to try to flee, but his guards met them, in demon form, and quickly made sure they wouldn’t be able to run. “Take these rats downstairs, I’ll deal with them later,” Lucifer ground out. He wanted to make sure they’d never do this again, but first he wanted to check in with Gabe.
Lucifer’s guards started taking the two demons towards the stairs, and third one coming to grab the leader. But Lucifer whispered something in the leader’s ear that made him pale even more just before the guard could take him away. Once the demons were taken captive, Lucifer’s shoulders finally relaxed. His hard demeanor that’d he’d been keeping up for weeks fell away quickly as his eyes looked to Gabe again, “I’m sorry about that. They must have sneaked in through the cracks. They won’t be bothering you again, I promise.”
Gabe glanced back at the stairs for a moment before looking back up at Lucifer, again noting how his entire expression changed. But then he remembered what the leader had said - 'He hasn't been using you?' Was he going to? And did he normally use people like that? "I, um…thank you."
“I… I’m sorry.” Lucifer said again. When he had seen those demons advancing on Gabe, his blood had boiled. He didn’t even know why. “I’ll tighten up security. I just haven’t, you know, needed it for some time.” He never really cared to make sure his palace was clean of intruders, mostly because he didn’t care for his own safety. After all, he was the devil.
Gabe nodded, glancing at the floor. "You…it's okay. You don't have to."
