"Hehe yaaaay!" He giggled and clapped his hands, then blushed and looked away. He was really shy about his regression, as he moved out of Fun's lap and scootched away to a corner of his bed. "I dun wanna be disgusting or a bother to you…like I has been before when I've explained me being a little…I pwomise I not gross…"
"Evan," Fun said gently, "I know you're not gross. I could never be disgusted by you, Evan, not for being you. I really do love you." Fun carefully offered his hands to Evan again, a small sign of acceptance. He wasn't disgusted, not at all.
Evan looked at Fun and put his hands in lovers. "Do…do you pomise? Coz coz…people have said that an an then they learn me and break up with me coz I'm weird an' a lot too handle jus' like my sister." He hung his head low, mentally preparing for Fun too just walk away.
"I promise," Fun said gently. "I'm not going to break up with you, and I don't care how hard it is to handle you. It's all worth it, if I get to be with you. If I get to make you happy." Fun came a little closer, holding Evan's hand. He held his hand up, still with Evan's hand in his own, gently resting it on Evan's cheek.
"I love you, Evan. My baby boy."
Evan smlied widely. "I love you too!" He was overjoyed to find someone who accepted him, he just hoped it'd last. His siblings shrieked ran, yelled and talked around him throughout the house. It was a very noisy and busy family. Evan just sorta babbled and crawled slowly into Fun's lap. "Whaaaaa do we do nows?"
Fun held Evan in his arms when Evan crawled into his lap, rubbing his back a little.
"Do you want to try to read together? We didn't really get to earlier. I could read a story for you, how about that?" He gave a small, gentle smile, kidding Evan's forehead.
Evan nodded, then a realization hit him. "…I left da books downstairs. An I too tiny to waaaaalk." He whined in complaint, giving off a few more small whines, kicking his feet. "Buh buh I also dun wanna be around my family and I don't wan you to gooooooooo…" He pouted even harder.
Fun thought a moment about they're situation.
"I know! Why don't I tell you a story, no books. How does that sound?" He held Evan close as he kicked his feet, holding one of his hands. He wanted to see Evan smile.
Evan smiled widely with excitement, bouncing up and down in Fun's lap as he grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around himself, and looked up at Fun with wide eyes after pushing up his glasses. He then kissed Fun's cheek before he started. "Thank you for loving meeee." He said cheerfully.
Fun smiled softly, keeping Evan close to himself.
"You're welcome," he said quietly. He cleared his throat a little, beginning. He put on his best narrator voice, because yes, he was going to do voices.
"Once, long ago, there was a lonely man who lived in the moon. Every day, he looked out from his home, wishing he could be like the people on the earth."
Evan looked up at Fun with wide eyes and a smile, entranced by the story. He whispered cutely to himself. "I like the moon…oh no poor lonely moon man. He needs a hug…" He then went silent, giving a tiny pout as he waited for Fun to continue the story.
Fun smiled at Evan's whisperings, kissing his forehead lightly.
"Why can't I be like the humans?' The man asked himself. 'Is there no one who could love me?' The man was lonely for many years, but one day, there was a solar eclipse, and the man saw the most beautiful person he had ever seen, right there in the sun. And he fell in love."
"Oh yay he's not lonely!" Evan smiled, happily clapping his hands. He then jammed his thumb in his mouth so he could shut himself up and listen to the story silently, rocking back and forth in Fun's lap impatiently waiting for the story to continue.
Fun gently took one hand from around Evan to hold his hand that wasn't by his mouth, kissing him lightly again.
"The moon gazed lovingly at the sun, but the sun's eyes were closed. He earned to be with them, but soon the eclipse ended, and the moon was taken away from the sun. Everyday, he wished and wished to just be able to see that beautiful person again, and the wish alone made him feel less lonely. One day, the man has a plan. 'I'll go to them,' he finally said. And so, he set out to travel to the sun."
"Oh no don't do that! He might get hurteded!" Evan cried out in worry, now chewing on his thumb anxiously, already deeply caught up in Fun's story. "Wha happens next Daddy? Tell me tell me tell me!" He said with excitement and worry in his voice, bouncing up and down on his butt.
Fun patted Evan's head lightly.
"He won't get hurt," he said softly before continuing.
"The man had thought the sun was so close, because they looked to be only a few feet from him. But he kept going, and going, and going, and the person kept getting bigger, bigger, and bigger. Finally, he arrived, and the sun was so big, he was like a mouse. The sun finally opened their eyes, cupping the moon in their hands. 'Oh my little moon,' the sun said softly. 'You've worked so hard to get here.'"
Evan grinned just like the little child he inwardly was, listening so intently he fell onto Fun's chest from rocking so hard. He immediately cuddled in, hoping to not bother Fun too much with this sudden action as he looked up at Fun, eyes big and wide and sparkling, waiting for the story to continue.
Fun adjusted so his arms were around Evan now, holding him close. He looked down gently at Evan, smiling softly as he continued.
"'Please,' the moon called out to the one holding him, 'Please let me stay with you. I've been lonely for so long…' the moon wiped at his eyes, hiding his tears at the next words the sun spoke. 'Oh, my sweet boy, I wish we could stay together. But we are both needed elsewhere. I'm so sorry, but you must go home.' *The sun gently kissed the moon's head, letting him go. 'I'll always think of you,' the moon said, tears in his eyes, already being brought back to his home."
"Oh no…the moon did all that work for nothing…" Evan's face fell, getting all sad as he looked down, not liking the sad turn this story had taken. It reminded him much of the french song Crystal always sang as she worked, and that song was also sad.
Fun held up one finger. Be patient. He cupped Evan's cheek gently.
"And so, the moon returned home. Every day, just like he had said, he thought of the sun. And it made him less lonely. But one day… He heard weeping. 'Who is there?' he called out. 'I am!' a voice called out. 'because no matter how long I have been here by your side, you do not see me! You think of the one you can never truly have, but I've been here the entire time.' The moon looked around, but all he saw around him was… The earth."
"Why is the sun playing hide and see? Why are they sad?" He asked curiously, perking up at Fun and his voices with those lights returning to his eyes. He clung too Fun tightly, now worried about the sun as well.
Fun gently patted Evan's head.
"You'll see," he said softly.
"The moon called out- 'Where are you? Who are you?.' 'I'm here! I'm here! You stare at me all the time, but never see me!' The moon's eyes widened a little, looking closer at the earth. And finally, he saw the woman living in it."
"But what about the sun?" He asked quietly, now confused. Because as far as he knew. The earths center was made of magma. And the sun was made of fire. Therefore they are two different things. Wasn't the moon in love with the sun, not the woman in the earth? He was very lost indeed.
"It'll make sense in the end," Fun promised softly. "My momma would tell me this story all the time…" He gave a soft, bittersweet smile. He missed her. And papa.
"'I know you love someone else,'" he continued. "'I do not ask for you to love me. But please, please be my friend. I don't want to be lonely anymore, when you're right here next to me.' The moon was shocked. He had never seen the woman, too busy longing to be like the humans. To have a friend. 'I will!' he called back. 'I love another, but I will be your friend. I won't ignore you anymore.'"
Evan nodded and listened intently. "Hehe yay, fwiendship is maaaaaagic!" He cried out, then remembered people were home. He went back to sucking on his thumb softly, babbling a bit as he quieted down and snuggled right back into Fun's chest.
