Blake listened, taking a moment to think it through before responding. “That’s…a very good way of explaining it. Thank you.”
Blake listened, taking a moment to think it through before responding. “That’s…a very good way of explaining it. Thank you.”
Kye hummed in response. "You'll have the choice if you want to stay here y'know… otherwise you'll get to be reincarnated like normal," he started, hoping that was somewhat of a comfort. "I'm… sorry we kidnapped you," he added, nearly forgetting to apologise while Derlik wasn't awake.
Blake nodded quietly. “It’s okay Kye. Things were pretty shitty down there anyway.” He reassured, hoping it’d somehow make Kye feel better.
Kye blinked some, seeming surprised before his expression changed to a frown. “I’m sorry,” he said, wanting to take their hand. The boy hesitated though as the human was too small, and he didn’t want to simply do anything without asking.
“No, it’s okay, really. You don’t need to feel bad about it. It’s all over now, right?” He reassured, placing his small hand on Kye’s bigger one.
Kye felt curious as to how the other seemed to read his mind. It felt strange feeling a small hand on his own. He was used to being tiny himself, not the other way around. “I mean, I guess so, but that doesn’t mean it was fun for you.”
Blake shrugged. “It’s in the past now.” He said simply. “No point in holding onto it anymore.”
Kye attempted to offer the other a small smile. “That’s a good mindset to have,” he noted. He remembered getting quite depressed over the past, until eventually getting used to life as it was. And it was good now. Better than good even.
“Thank you.” He replied, smiling a bit at the other. If there was one thing Blake was good at, it was letting go of unneeded emotions or memories.
His smile turned into a saddened one for a moment. “I’m also sorry that dad’s making you stay small. I guess it’s a custom we have now,” he said with a light chuckle. He was small for the longest time before ever being allowed to be full sized. Even then, he was still kind of short in human standards.
“Eh.” He shrugged. “It’s manageable.” They said nonchalantly. But they did miss being full sized sometimes.
“If you say so,” Kye replied. He looked over at Derlik a moment before looking back at Blake. “Anything more you’re interested in knowing?”
Blake shook his head. “I don’t think so.” They said softly. “But thank you.”
Kye nodded, kind of unsure what to do with himself. He hadn’t had a friend to talk to in some time now.
Blake lay their head down on Kye’s hand, turning to look up at the sky. It had been a very long day.
Kye allowed himself to do the same, watching the stars twinkle in the night sky. He didn’t know any constellations, but he knew what the stars really were now…
Derlik was still dead asleep on the boulder. He probably wouldn't be in the best of moods in the morning, but he always got more cheery with his hangover pills and some nice, strong coffee.
Blake let out a soft breath, enjoying the view. “Aren’t they so beautiful? We normally can’t see too many in the city. Too much pollution.”
Kye hummed, agreeing with Blake. He’d seen it for himself. Over the years the sky grew more and more faint. The thick air and all the light drowned out the original beauty of night. “They are. I suppose that’s one thing you’ll like while being here. It’s like this every night…”
Blake smiled some at that. “That’s nice….I think I will like that a lot. I’ve always liked the stars.”
“Do you… know any of the names of them?” He asked, a bit curious for himself. He never learned them as they were officially named hundreds of years after he was first born. Kye decided it would also be best not to tell Blake of the origin of the stars either. It might creep him out some.
(Derlik, when he finds out Blake likes stargazing: I like looking at the souls too, I can point out the ones that are mine if you'd like and tell you their names :D)
“A few. But not a lot. It’ll take me a bit to point them out though since the sky’s a bit different here.” They said, looking over at Kye.
(Kye: DAD NO WE DON’T NEED TO RUIN THE STARS FOR THEM)
Kye leaned back a bit further into the tree. “It’s more than I know,” he replied with a shrug.
“Okay then just give me one moment.” They studied the sky for a minute or so before seeming to find something. “Okay I found one!” He declared.
