Rio stopped next to her, drifting around her as he studied the ring. "Pretty looking thing." he commented, "Wonder who lost it."

"I don't know it looks… familiar. My mother's wedding ring looked like this but once her and my father divorced she…got rid of it. I never knew how though."
Rio frowned studying it for a moment, "Unless it's enchanted somehow, I don't see how it could be your mom's ring."
"I know, it's probably just some random woman's ring. But a ring like this would probably be pretty expensive, why would someone just throw it out?"
"Who knows" said Rio, "Like I said it was probably lost while they were swimming, either that or it held painful memories."
"I don't know, it's probably nothing." Then why do I feel like I'm attached to it? She slowly slipped the ring on. "Perfect fit." She mumbled to herself.
"Finders keepers" said Rio with a grin, "Wanna resurface before Rashi freaks?"
"You can go ahead, I just want to analyze this a little more." It almost felt like the ring was pulling her down, telling her to swim deeper.
Rio shook his head, "That would be irresponsible of me." he said, staying by her side.
"Rio I'm not going to drown, I'll be fine." She flashed a quick smile before returning her attention to the ring.
"True, but Rashi would be liable to murder me if I left you alone." he said.
"Alright listen, if I don't come back up in 5 minutes, come find me. I'm depressed, not stupid. I'll be alright, okay?"
Rio sighed, "Alright," he said, "I'll be right back," and with that his tail propelled him upwards.
She couldn't help but smile. "You're adorable, Rio, you really are." Once she knew he was far enough away, she finally listened to the ring and swam farther down until she could feel the pressure start to get to her head. "Okay, where to next?" She noticed a small cave in the corner of her vision and a couple figures in the entrance. "Well would you look here boys. We got ourselves a little explorer. And she's a pretty one too." A smooth voice purred, making her tense.
Rio smiled, breaking the surface.
"Where's Fiona?" asked Rashi,
"She'll be up in a few moments."
(Right, this got all kinds of messed up but I swear I answered 😂😂)
(Cool I'll roll with it…)
(I like to yeet in extra drama. It's fun to throw people off I'm sorry 😂)
After a few minutes Rio frowned, "Alright I'm going to go look for her." he said, turning to dive down, leaving Rashi behind him. His powerful fins propelled him downwards to where he left her. Seeing that she wasn't there he whipped up a blue aura that sent a shockwave around him in all directions. His form of echo location.
(It's cool, I do the same thing)
"What do you want from me?" She kept her voice strong and clear. "Well sweetie, that depends." The voice came out of the shadows, revealing an almost perfect Christian Grey (I don't know actors, I know characters) lookalike with black and blue shimmering scales. "What do you think I want?"
Rio soon swept off in another direction heading deeper. Why would she go deeper? That charm I gave her won't protect her from the pressure… he thought. His tail moved, swimming deeper, soon he saw Fiona, and another merman. "Fiona!" he called, swimming to her side. "Who are they?" he gestured to the two figures.
"Wait they're real? I thought the pressure was just making me imagine things. But to answer your question, I don't know." "Oh, she has a friend. I'm so sorry but I must take the young lady. She's too beautiful for the land above." Before she could even react, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her to himself, one arm tight around her waist and the other against her back.
Rio's face hardened, "She can't survive in the deep idiot." he said, "And if you're looking for a girl then find one yourself." He moved closer, just a little. "Let her go, and I'll pretend this never happened." he said flatly, his fingers twirling to send a message to Rashi.
Rashi saw it, cursing under his breath as he swept back to their house to grab his staff and Rio's sword.
"Hmm, I'd rather not. Besides, she came looking down here, she must've been expecting something." However, she couldn't even answer, she was still in shock and when she opened her mouth, no sound came out. Maybe this ring was more than it seemed.
