"Oh thank God, my legs are cramping like nobody's business." She let her legs relax, chuckling softly.
"Oh thank God, my legs are cramping like nobody's business." She let her legs relax, chuckling softly.
Rio laughed, "I know the feeling," he said, holding her close, his tail flicking every once in awhile.
"Anyone who has been watching us probably thinks we drowned."
"Nobody comes anywhere near this lagoon" said Rio, "And I don't particularly care what they think either."
"And this is where you learn that I care too much about what people think of me. Just a habit."
"I do the same thing" said Rio, "But honestly most people end up seeing my fins before I stay under this long. So then I have every right to believe they're idiots if they thought I had drowned."
"Yeah but people don't think I'm a mermaid." She chuckled.
"And who said I was one?" asked Rio, "I get the reference, but one, I'm not a maid. Two others like me prefer the term Aquantae"
"Yeah but I prefer mermaid. Sorry, sorry, merman. It's less technical. Or do you like siren better?" She teased.
"Either one is fine" laughed Rio, tail flicking again.
"I think I'll go with siren. It suits you best."
Rio grinned, "So what do I call you?"
"Whatever you please. I'm not all that special." She laughed.
"But you are special!" protested Rio. "I'll find something eventually."
"I bid you good luck because you will certainly need it."
Rio laughed, though he paused when an abnormal current swept by. Rio frowned, "Why do you always have bad timing." he muttered, staring up at the surface.
"Who is it now?" She glanced up at the surface, not immediately seeing anything worth noticing.
"My brother" Said Rio in annoyance, "Unfortunately that meas we have to surface" his arms wound gently around her waist. Then his tail moved, more than just a steadying flick as he propelled them upwards.
"Ohhhh, this is going to suck, isn't it?" She let the last moment stick in her memory, just so she could remember it.
"Who knows" said Rio, "Honestly you can never tell with him." One more powerful thrust and they broke the surface.
Rashi was hovering above the water, wind swirling around him. "Nice of you to allow me the pleasure of staying dry." He said wryly.
She just stared up at him with a 'Seriously?' look on her face. "Bit overdramatic but okay." She muttered under her breath.
"How else do you expect me to get out this far without swiming?" Asked Rashi, gesturing to the fact that land was very far away.
"Don't make me drag you in!" Said Rio, who had his arm around Fiona to support her. "Now what do you want?"
"Yeah that's a good question, why exactly are you here?" She brushed her now wet hair out of her eyes.
"Checking on my twin." Said Rashi, "and harping on him for going out with a beautiful lady, getting her soaking wet, and skipping out on work, and pulling an all-nighter."
"You were the reason I pulled the all-nighter," said Rio, "and wet wasn't a problem till we surfaced."
"And to be fair, I was kind of dying just a little bit so he kind of needed to watch to make sure I didn't bleed out on my bathroom floor."
