"that it is" said Skye, flopping back on the floor, completely relaxed.
"that it is" said Skye, flopping back on the floor, completely relaxed.
"So who are you anyway? I mean, I know your name but that doesn't explain why you're here when you could be out doing good for other people with those powers of yours and, y'know, not interacting with a street rat like me." She tugged at the torn edges of her sleeves.
"Hey" Skye twisted to look up at her, "I'm a street rat too. That's who I've always been. Mind you I did end up leaving this city to figure out a few things that I found out a few years back, but this city, it's always gonna be my home."
She glanced out the broken window to the palace in the distance. "That used to be my home. Then my world was ripped out from under me and my fragile understanding of who I was and what I wanted in life was shattered in front of me."
"Where you a Royal?" Asked Skye following her gaze.
(Sorry! I had to go do gym. Also Im out of school now)
(So am I but I'm at play practice)
"No. My father was on the King's council. But after my mother died, someone accused him of killing her and ruined his reputation."
"Ouch" said Skye. "Not to be rude but I can't eally i.avgine what that'd be like"
(Also i just realized that Skye and Crystal are opposites. Skye is technically… in wolf terms… the equivalent of a crown prince.)
(And that's what makes them so perfect)
"Yeah…" She shook the memories away. "But it doesn't matter now. It's not who I am anymore."
(Also sorry for the bad spelling…im on my phone and the edit function won't let me edit….)
(Oh oof.)
"Who you are has nothing to do with Rank or status" said Skye "it has everything to do with your actions, and the people you surround yourself with"
"That's not true to everyone else." She muttered under her breath.
"It is to me" said Skye. "Most of the other kids I met on the streets when I was a kid were innocents. Sure they were all thieves. But they never stole from the poor, or when it would seriously hurt the wellbeing of another. And they, and myself, never took more than we needed."
"Exactly! But to everyone else, we're just common criminals. We're nothing more than wanted posters waiting to happen for one crime or another." She tugged at her sleeves again, the raised scars on her wrists screaming her failures.
Skye looked down, knowing full well that what she said wasn't true for him. He had friends. He had family too. And he knew he was more than a street rat, but he didn't care about that part. "Well they're wrong" he said, "When I look at you I see a strong young woman who could probably rival a close friend of mine." he quickly thought of his firey haired younger sister.
"You don't know me." She mumbled quietly. "Don't jump to conclusions." After all the mental abuse, she'd lost all self confidence.
"Well I tend to have a knack for figuring people out" said Skye flopping at her feet once more, "And I stand by my conclusion."
"Good luck with me though." She chuckled softly, refusing to meet his eyes. He'll see everything I don't want him to.
Skye watched her carefully, "Luck always was on my side" he thought.
(Said* the edit function still isn't working…)
She sunk down to his side, flashing a soft smile at him. "Well then I'm sure you'll be done in no time."
Skye watched her every move, not bothering to say more as he studied her hair.
She'd since draped it back over her eye to avoid explaining her bruise. She combed through it with her fingers, letting the silence grow.
Skye eventually stopped, staring up at the ceiling. Why is she so pretty?
She felt his stare move off her and she let her eyes trail to him. He's so cute…
